Camp Salmen Nature Park

This park is great! We're from out of town and brought our kids here for a few hours. It's beautiful. Secluded with a large playground and benches everywhere (a parents dream). Lots of walking trails, and a large pavilion with lots of picnic tables. Definitely worth the visit!

One of our favorite little gems on the northshore! Quiet, fairly well established trails, well-maintained playground, and free!

I love this gem of a park. There are so many elements of Slidell History. The swamp trails are so peaceful and my go-to for my down time. We went for family pictures today. The biggest thing for me is the cleanliness. The wooden trail system is well maintained. The other trails are kept clean. Easy walks and beautiful views.

This is an amazing place to enjoy the natural sounds and beauty of the area. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The area is rich with some Slidell history. Very beautiful place to come time and time again, especially since I live nearby. I love watching the wildlife and listening to their communication.

We love this place. Nice clean bathrooms. Clean playground. Love that there's big fans in the ceiling corners under the main pavilion for hot summer days. If only they had a small splash. That would be the cherry on top! But regardless my kids and I spend a lot of days here exploring and playing.

This is a nice and clean family part. The park was well cared for. We spent a couple hours hiking a few of the trails. The trails are fairly short but fun for a quick hike. We like how they have both swamp and pine forest trails here. The trails were well cleared and most had gravel surfaces. It also has a nice play ground for the smaller kids.

Beautiful views, perfect for riding bicycle or just walking around, definitely would recommend and will go again, loved it.

My family and kids love this nature park in the outskirts of slidell la. We love going on nature walks and kids love the playground equipment by the really nice outdoor pavilion. The board walk out to bayou liberty is very nice as well seeing all kinds of wildlife including gators and turtles and all kinds of birds.

What a great place!!! A park for the kids and paths to walk. Great nature views and the wildlife likes to make frequent appearances.

Great local park. Good for kids as there's lots of room for them to run around and tire themselves out. There's a playground available for them as well. Lots of trails to explore either by foot or bicycle. Bring insect repellant as the mosquitoes can be bad during certain times of the year.
Be sure to make it out of the park before the gates are locked. If not, you'll need to call the police department to come let you out.

Three different tribes were in this area. Very interesting much to learn here. Need donations everything needs a little bit of update because it is so old. You can also donate time to help. The history has fallen to the wayside we need to do everything we can to keep it and it is very beautiful even in the winter.

Very nice place to walk around and enjoy nature. Watch your step tho!! You are in nature and a swampy area there are poisonous snakes, Gators and other things on the ground!! Enjoy and be safe.

My kids & I loved it out here! It's well kept & plenty of shade to stay cool.

This is a great place to bring the kids lots of area to run around in a bunch of old oak trees and yes the kids can climb on them without anyone screaming at them just please be respectful And don't hang off of the limbs

Beautiful, very well preserved & maintained piece of history! That whole area has a story, and it’s a really cool one at that. Most definitely recommend checking it out.

A cool trailhead to go from Slidell to Lacombe or Mandeville if you can handle it! I went to Lacombe and back from this location! The park staff were very friendly here and pointed me in the right direction!

Camp Salmen is a little hidden gem. That for a long time we didn’t realize was there. There’s little spots by the water, big Live Oak trees, paths, a playground.

Absolutely beautiful!! What a gem. A lot bigger than I expected it to be and parts of the trace run through it.
