They have made a recent change and they are now BLACK OWNED. They are changing the hours and I came after hours and the owner let me and my family in so we could put flowers on our family I greatly appreciate him for. I was told they will start staying open later very soon.

Please please give this new owner a chance. I was there on 12/9/23 decorating for Christmas. I figured the problems with our loved ones grave were not fixed. I went to the office and talked to new owner Bruce. He was very nice and concerned. He has only owned this facility 40 Days and he went to my relatives graves and looked at the problems. He took my number and told me he would send a text with pictures once everything was corrected. Sure enough after years of trying to correct our problems he did it within the week. Please give them a chance he and his crew are very compassionate to correct all the neglected problems !!! Please give them a chance us all I would like to see.

The new owners are making a good change. Lots of my family members are buried there and I can see the change just in this little time. I know it will take time but the change I have seen will end well.

I would never have found my GGGrandpa's grave without the kindness and help of Ron. It was a Sunday, the office was closed, and he was preparing a grave for a funeral. Thank you, Ron. This is a very interesting, old, historic cemetery founded in the early 1920's to present a park-like experience, built on high rolling hills. I don't know why my GGGrandma chose to bury him half way down a steep hill, but it is beautiful and peaceful. There are no upright headstones, lane, or section markers. You must phone ahead to get the information you need. Kindly ask for help finding your loved one when they aren't busy. They are a small crew. People are buried up and down hills, making it extremely difficult to maintain, and built at time when graves were dug by hand. Please be kind to them, and remember; it is the responsibility of the families, in most cemeteries, to maintain the headstones of their loved ones. I found that the graves that are visited were the ones maintained. The plaques are beautiful. With Ron patiently helping us; we three searched until we found it. I knew I would be cleaning it up so I took a few gardening tools, a brush, and a gallon of water. It was such a pleasure to do and a special day for me. My grandpa has been there for 100 years. Appreciate the natural beauty and original intent, take a picnic and enjoy spending an hour or two with your loved one. I hope you have good balancing skills!

I went to the cemetery a couple weeks ago, and there is definitely maintenance improvement. Glad to know there are new owners, and the cemetery will be kept up. It’s been a long time coming. It is nice to write a review and be able to give more than one star. However, I am confused why some reviews mentioned that it is a black owned cemetery now. I didn’t realize that race was an issue. I wasn’t aware that the previous owners were not black. Even if the previous owners were purple, the cemetery was not being taken care of. Props to the new owners!!

This is a Very large cemetery. It is mowed, but the grass is not pulled back from the markers. They sink, the grass grows over them, then they get mowed over. It is beautiful and peacful with all the green hills and trees, but good luck finding your loved one's resting place.

CALL BEFORE YOU GO. Here is the letter I just had to leave with the main office….

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this office’s service as I’m currently waiting for the cemetery to open TWO HOURS late, and I have driven all the way from Connecticut to visit my dear mother who is buried here. This is my second time here in the last few days since it was also closed when I tried visiting on a Saturday afternoon, when one would expect a cemetery to be open - especially on a holiday weekend when so many people would want to visit a loved one. After calling the office that day, I was told you close at 1 on Saturdays and we’re closed on Sundays, both of which make no sense (given that you’re a cemetery) and that your open 9-5 M-F. None of those hours align with the information on this website. I would hope that a cemetery’s staff would understand the importance of honoring its hours given the nature of your business. The fact that I’m waiting to see my mother because someone is “running a little late” and showing up to work 2 hours late is not only unprofessional but highly disrespectful to your customers (because we are not the only family waiting outside) and the memories of the loved ones we’re trying to honor during such a special and emotional time. Your business should be ashamed and do better.

PK McField — This was a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I am from California and went to visit my grandparents, my Great Aunt and Uncle’s and my father’s grave site. Upon enter the circle where my family was, I noticed the chains surrounding the statue of Saint Mark had been removed and the barriers were left laying down in the grass, the head stones of all of my family members were covered with dirt, weeds, and grass. The whole grassy area of the cemetery was completely overgrown and needed to be cut. It took my family and I twenty minutes to clean the area so that the headstones were visible. My regret is I didn’t take any pictures so that I could have shared them. This is not acceptable! My family has been at this peaceful place since 1969 and I am appalled by how it is being taken care of. If anyone at this company reads these comments you must do something to correct this situation immediately. Also, before my family and I left the cemetery, there were two car’s doing burnouts or donuts on the property desecrating the cemetery and other burial sites. This is such a shame because there’s no appreciation for the burial sites of the many people and families that are buried here. Will something be done to restore and correct the maintenance of this property? This is a cemetery, a place of rest, and the way it is being cared for needs to be addressed and improved. Would you want the final resting place of your loved ones to be in an unclean and disorderly environment? PK McField

At one time this park like cemetery was adequate, the roads weren't crumbling and trees growing into the roadways.

The upkeep of this resting place of my family has gone down hill over the years. The graves aren't trimmed and it's up to the family to clear off their loved ones head stone.

Now my Grandma passed in January, she had prepaid for her plot, they charged to dig the hole and still haven't removed the excess dirt from her grave or the family member next to her. Have made multiple requests through the Funeral home, it is frustrating to see the lack of concern. The date of death hasn't been added to the stone because it was covered in dirt and weeds. Called the funeral home again today to get something done, it's frustrating...

What a disgrace! This business should be ashamed of themselves! We went today and couldn't even find THREE stones as they were just mowed over so many times. Last year I took my shovel to dig all the dirt out from around them, this year, couldn't even find them!

I have 5 loved ones..I went today and could not even find their stones. The grass has covered them and when mowed...they sink in. This is a disgrace that people have paid thousands of dollars to be buried and this man has not done any upkeep to this property in many years. He should be so ashamed of himself.

I visited my brother’s grave at Memorial Park Cemetery located at 3223 N 18th St. in KCK on May 30, 2021, and the grass looked like it was never cut. What about using weed control? There are more weeds than grass. It is sad how the cemetery has gone done. I am sure that this place is doing good business so how about spending some of the money to keep the place up? Even the building looks abandoned like no one ever comes there. It has a board on the window. Our loved Ones deserve respect while they lay at rest.

Today, I took my mother to visit my sister's grave since this is her 4th death anniversary. It took us, at least 10 min in the hot heat, to find her grave. It was totally covered up by dead grass and weeds and sunk in. This is totally unacceptable! I will be contacting Parks and Recs concerning this issue. This is not a 1 time issue, we usually have to go there to clean it off but have not in a few months. MY FAMILY WILL NEVER USE THIS AWFUL CEMETERY EVER AGAIN!!! I WOULD'VE GIVEN 0 STARS BUT I HAD TO GIVE AT LEAST 1 FOR THE SAKE OF POSTING.
