Love this neighborhood bookstore in The Loop. Staff is always very helpful and their new space makes shopping easier. Ran into today to grab a book before heading to the airport. Asked the staff for recommendations and ended up buying 3 books I couldn’t decide between. The service and good feels of being IN a bookstore is 100% better than clicking buy now on Amazon.

We had a bit of time after we got to town before we were able to check in at our Airbnb, and happened to stroll past Subterranean Books (while hauling our luggage and dodging rain showers). Along with a wide selection of books, there was a fantastic selection of bookish tees, tote bags, stickers, etc. The staff was lovely - even let us leave our roller bags at the front counter while we browsed, which was greatly appreciated.

Wonderful local bookstore in Clayton, MO. The staff were friendly. Wide selection of books. And had a Photo Booth to take pictures of your books (we’ll come back to do that later).

My all-time favorite book store! The energy and environment is upbeat, eclectic and amazing. The staff is super helpful and has helped me pick out books for loved ones based on generic descriptions of their personalities and has been spot-on every time.

We only went in briefly after wandering to walk off our dinner. The woman working was super friendly and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. They also had quite a few good books that immediately jumped out at me. They had a great young graphic novel section where my daughter found several books that she loved and read as soon as we got them home.

Love the feel of this bookstore. A bit of a smaller selection, but they still have tons of options and cover every genre. They even have literary t-shirts, mugs, and pins too. The loyalty program is a great reason to keep shopping here, in addition to the friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely local bookstore who either stocks or can order any book you need! Leave your drink at the door and sanitize your hands so you can get to browsing! Their new bigger location is accessible with a stroller, wide aisles, no steps. I usually browse the kids section and there’s a big variety of classics and newer titles. I am able to find books with characters of color (Ruth Forman, The Pinkneys, Anti-Racist Baby, Have I Told You Black Lives Matter?) which is important to me. I usually end up with a pile of 4-5 excellent titles that I narrow down to 1-2 to take home :)

When I am ordering books online, I try to find them on subterranean’s website in order to support a local business. They can get pretty much anything. Shipping is slightly slower than Prime but it’s worth the wait to feel better about my purchase.

This is the coolest bookstore. They are indie, they are small, and still- they somehow seem to have everything you should want to buy for decent prices. The staff are peerless, and even for the kids section alone; if you have young readers this place is a MUST visit. They get bonus points for being right next door to the best coffee shop in St. Louis, Meshuggah. There are other tremendous book stores and coffee shops in St. Louis, but Subterranean is the benchmark bookstore they all fall just short of.

It's a very nice book store. The atmosphere of the place is very friendly, and the staff there were very helpful. If you're looking to buy a few new reads and support a local business, this is the place to go!

Vibrant and stacked floor to ceiling with books for every breed. The staff was friendly and helpful with any questions. Nothing replaces a old school book and it's great to still see the passion Subterranean Books has for them. There is an adorable dog that roams the store, those interested can shower it with praises and love, but it's something to keep in mind if you are hyper sensitive.
