The Boro Restaurant & Bar

We arrived at a quiet time in the afternoon and were seated immediately. Our server was at our table taking our drink order right away. We both agreed that the Bloody Mary's had too much ice and not enough seasoning; however, we drank them! The food we chose was the low country shrimp boil and fried flounder basket. I thought the flounder was good, but the breading was a little heavy. My daughter thought it was perfect. Her shrimp boil was delicious. I loved the corn on the cob. The shrimp sauce and tartar sauce were not as tasty as we expected. Our server was very good. She checked on us frequently and was very friendly. Having the ocean as a background was really nice. We enjoyed our dining experience very much.

Nice quaint spot in historic Swansboro. Enjoyed the scenic views. Great customer service. It didn’t take a long time for the food to come out. Everything was delicious.

We are a little disappointed that they discontinued the bourbon street scallop pasta, it was our favorite! But I've heard that their cajun pasta has a similar sauce, so we are excited to go back and try that!

The dog-friendly patio was perfect for dinner & the shrimp Tuscan pasta was delicious. The other dogs & local ducks added to the coastal ambiance.

The Boro is one of our go to restaurants. We’ve been coming here for years and not one bad memory. No complaints. The ambience is perfect. Set in downtown Sawnsboro near the White Oak River. They have a good selection of beer and wine. The service is consistently great. The food is outstanding and creative. You’ll find dishes here that are unique and flavorful. Stuff you’ve never heard of like putting watermelon in their shrimp and grits.
Their lunch and diner menus are different. Once you try this place once, make sure on your second visit to try the opposite menu.

First time here. Low country boil and shrimp po boy were FANTASTIC!!! We live an hour away but will definitely be back. Beautiful views, great staff, yummy food. What more can you ask for?

I had the fried shrimp and it is probably the best fried shrimp I've ever had! I substituted a side salad with blue cheese dressing. Often when I go out I find they are very skimpy with the dressing but as you can see in the picture they were very generous with a super tasty chunky blue cheese dressing. The service was spectacular and the food was amazing!

Went here for the first time last night. I got the pesto-pecan crusted grouper and mom got the shrimp and grits. Both meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. I also tried the mango blueberry cocktail and it was good. Our waitress was really nice too :).... 10/10 would visit again.

Enjoyed lunch on the patio. The eggs Benedict was wonderful!

Came for lunch and had the Cajun Chicken Pasta! Delicious! Service was fantastic and they accommodated my two little ones very easily (brought out coloring books). Great craft beer menu! Can’t wait to come back!

The staff was kind of helpful! The food was ultra delicious! Outside seating was breezy and sunny but set low so that it wasn't aggressively windy that close to the water. The appetizers were above and beyond delicious! The chef's seafood platter was very lightly seasoned I would recommend exchanging wilder rice as a side for something else.

My sister and I came in for lunch. Our first time here! We don’t get out much.
We arrived at the restaurant, it was slightly busy, we were seated promptly and with a friendly smile. Seating was a bit tight inside, however outside was beautiful.
Was greeted by a young lady named Nicki, she was superb. Extremely sweet and very funny. Knew everything about the menu and the daily specials. Which was a big help. We received our lunch in a timely manner, everything she advised was amazing. Excellent service, Compliments to the Chefs. Definitely be back over and over again.

Afternoon well-spent! So I have been meaning to take a day and actually eat in the area and enjoy what it has to offer. I took a young lady here for a first date and it lived up to its hype! Good food and service and was genuinely fresh! The prices were reasonable and the parking wasn't that bad either. (Was there from 1 to 3pm) Genuinely happy I went FINALLY... They have an outdoor seating area that is really nice and good beer on tap as well. Go for the Mahi tacos! The pita chips were great! They came with the crab dip that was topped with fresh shredded Parmesian and Asiago. Her shrimp burger looked great and was a decent amount of food. I would say they should do fries not potato chips but that's just me. A good choice as far as lunch or dinner though. I should have visited sooner... So Instigator fishing and diving charters keeps their boats on the pier/dock close by and is where I worked as a mate. (If you fish or dive check them out) so early mornings and too tired at the end of the day to do anything in the area is why Ive been here so often but never genuinely participated in the local brewhaha and what not. I'll be back though TO EAT AND DRINK... Constance was our waitress and fantastic! Music is live Wednesday, Friday, and Saturdays year round and starts at 7. Enjoy!

Highly recommended! Great atmosphere, delicious food, and their cocktails were amazing. Great customer service! You can make reservations if needed, but not for the same day. The most we had to wait was 10 minutes, then it got very busy, most people wanted to seat outside. Either way, we had a great time!

Live music with E-Squared. Wonderful spot with patio heaters outside. Fantastic service. And they swapped out the shrimp for chicken in the curry due to my allergy.

My parents are quite the fans of this restaurant and frequent it often when they are at their vacation spot. They highly recommend us to The Boro. They enjoy all the food options and the live bands.
I am drooling thinking about the scallop risotto and cannot wait to visit again! My partner got the chicken sandwich and fries and also really enjoyed it!
It was a stormy day when we went so we will definitely be returning on a nicer day to eat and enjoy the band.

I absolutely loved this restaurant. The food was the best we had while we were at the beach. The service was friendly and fast. The offer indoor and outside seating. I had the shrimp basket for lunch and chocolate cake for dessert. Oh my, so so good.

Decided at the last minute to have a date lunch with my husband. So happy we went here. I got the crab toastadas which came out more like egg rolls and were AMAZING!! Order them. Husband got the chicken BLT without the LT. He couldn’t finish it and loved it. Service was great. Right on the water.

I took my wife here for her birthday and it was AMAZING. We had a nice scenic view of the water sitting outside. Our server Anthony really took care of us considering he was the only server working the exterior of the restaurant. The food was great, not over or under cooked. The appetizer was amazing, we got the shrimp and black beans dish and boy,that mango salsa was very very tasty. If you're out and want to try something other than the normal Western Blvd restaurants, head to Swansborow and give this place a try.

Great sea food, good drinks, and amazing staff. Clam linguini and feta and lemon shrimp (both on the photo) were excellent. I would definitely recommend this place to every sea food lover, but not only since they also have a lot of other options in their menu, a few vegetarian as well.
