Wow real customer’s service! I had an incident with LoliPup-in my driveway with Cris and the pups - and we couldn’t use it to go to snow tubing last weekend. So I -indeed- forgot to cancel the campground but called like 2 hours before the reservation. Well thank you Grandfather Campground &Cabins for the rain check. We will be back as soon As Lolipup is back on her feet. More reviews after we’ll visit.

Beautiful campground, great view of the mountain. It has a kids jungle gym and sand pit next to the bath house. Good general store on sites. $7 a bundle of firewood. Centrally located to go to Boone or sugar mountain. Had a great time.

We made a reservation for 3 nights but as we arrived it was only for 2. Luckily they were able to move the next reservation from our site so we didn’t have to pack up and leave. It was a bit nerve racking but they are really nice in the office and fixed the problem right away! It’s so beautiful and we love coming here. The white squirrel and all the chipmunks were a nice surprise!

We stayed here 2 nights the last week of June. Last minute reservation for campsite and got one by the creek. Didn’t have any issues as all hook ups worked great. Staff was gone for the day when we arrived but reservation paperwork was right where they said it would be when we arrived. The fenced in dog area was nice and we did our part to keep it that way. Price was very reasonable for week before July 4th weekend. Ladies in the office were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again if in the area.

This is a great place. I've been camping here for 30 years. I have a ton of memories here. Even now, with my kids, we love it.

New visitors: camp to the right of the bathhouse, either right in front of the river or up the hill in the woods. Our kids love playing in the river.

There's a stocked trout pond next door. We like to catch a fish and throw it on the fire.

Enjoy

This is the most amazing campground I have been to in a long time. The staff, the cabin, the grounds are wonderful. We were in the Camping Cabin right across from the bath house. Very clean inside and out. The cabin has the best mattresses. The store had everything we needed and wanted. It was so peaceful and the views are to die for. Close enough to go into town but far enough away to enjoy. There is a trout pond beside campground too. I only have two things that I would suggest. (1)Bathrooms were clean, but needed to have trash taken out each night and sweep and mop floors. They were not bad at all and I love that fact that it is all in one and showers were not in separate part. It was really convenient. (2) Screen doors for cabins would be amazing so you can get the fresh air in without getting bugs. We are already planning several trips next year to stay here.

We rented the 3 "cabins" for a 2 night Scout Troop's trip to Sugar Mountain to ski. The cabins were very clean, good size, and while simple they met all our needs perfectly.

The little heaters has a hard time keeping up when the temperature hit 24F degrees. If you'll be in those temps, be sure you bring extra blankets, just in case the heater goes out in the night.

One nice campground with plenty of things to do nearby. Clean showers and restrooms. Very nice people that work there to. I've been there a couple times and plan on going back often. Beautiful scenery and restraunts and more.

We came here for 5 days and it was absolutely beautiful. Be very careful driving there you can get stuck with your camper on some crazy roads

Very nice campground with friendly staff. Live the fact any type of sleeping arrangements are available (tent, rv, cabins, etc.) My only issue would be the cleanliness of the bath houses. Could use a bit of updating and cleaned daily with the trash being disposed of. Aside from that, will definitely stay again.

It pains me to write this, but I'm the Scoutmaster for a local Boy Scout Troop and had made arrangements to stay at Grandfather Mountain Campground last December. The trip was cancelled due to poor weather and Grandfather mountain offered us a raincheck to use anytime in the next 12 months. Fast-forward 6 months. We requested to use that raincheck this month. However, campground management stated we need to submit the raincheck letter they sent to our sponsoring church. We never received a letter and didn't know to expect one. Although they acknowledged they had emails with proof of our cancellation and them offering a raincheck, they would not honor that evidence and stated we needed the letter. They cannot prove they ever sent the letter...Horrible customer service and shame on forcing a non-profit to eat hundreds of dollars on a wasted trip. We will never patron this campsite again.

052123 Update: After discussions with management, Grandfather Campground has reissued our raincheck. The Troop appreciates the gesture and I am adjusting my review accordingly.

Nice little campground with any amenity you may want. Has primitive campsites all the way up to cabins. Had 2 sites reserved, a primitive and an electric. Both were fantastic in their own ways. Bathrooms and showers were clean and stocked. Office/store staff are great and helpful. Store has essentials like firewood and snacks. Also has souvenirs and shirts to take home.

This place is 100% underrated, quiet camp-grounds with a surprisingly nice bathroom for campers to use. Give them a try I enjoyed camping here, I think I will try a cabin next time.

This is a great place to stay. We were there for 1 week. Great open spaces for kids and pups, beautiful streams running down both sides of the park, with plenty Gravel road for walking. The back end of the campground butts up to Grandfather State Park with trail accessibility, we loved finding this. It can get quite windy here, and the gusts can be scary. Beautiful place to appreciate the beauty of the area in a relaxed setting. The owners have done a great job of not overcrowding, I hope they keep it that way. The WIFI could use some work.

Our 1st campground in our new trailer! ⛰🤪
Easy check in, great price, and perfect location from so much.
Scenery is beautiful.
Little shop has essentials, firewood, ice. Neighbors are all quiet, pet friendly, nice little dog run, very clean, etc. We are very happy with this campground.
