Z Bakery and Cafe

We called prior to arrival to determine if the menu was the same all day. The staff couldn't have been nicer and even offered to add us to the wait-list. Upon arrival we were day almost immediately. It was a beautiful day and day at the tables outside in the garden area. The menu items are consistent with other restaurants, like pancakes or eggs; however, the items are made very different and unique. All of the food seemed very fresh and was delicious. We had a small hiccup during our visit and management quickly addressed our concerns. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I decided to try Z Bakery and Cafe for a Friday brunch.

1. We were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant/event space is a small renovated home. They did a great job of utilizing the space. The front porch is basically the reception/waiting area. Once you walk in there are dining tables on the left and right. Straight ahead there is the bakery section with a glass case displaying baked goods. If you walk through the hallway there is a restroom and more seating. There is also plenty of outdoor seating in the back. It's a nice cozy space that makes you feel welcomed.

2. We had a love/hate relationship with the service. Everyone was really friendly and patient. They explained the menu items well and made sure we were taken care of. However, service was extremely slow, we waited a decent amount of time for our drinks and what felt like a really long time for our food.

3. Once the food came out it was amazing! It was all fresh and delicious. We had the avocado toast which was excellent, stuffed french toast with strawberries, honey butter croissant, and a veggie omelette. Everything was great, there was nothing that I could complain about.

4. Parking is a bit tight. Once a few cars are parked in the small gravel parking lot it can be a bit challenging to move your vehicle.

5. All in all we would definitely go back. I only saw 4 workers that day so I assume they were short staffed for the amount of guests they needed to serve. Once again, the food was fantastic and they really did treat us with kindness.

Delicious food, I love everything I tried. Such a farm house vibe in the middle of the city of Fort mill. Delicious food and great atmosphere. We had a great brunch time with girls here. The place is cute. You can buy handmade soap and lip gloss here too :)

Cute, charming, and good! In a world of big breakfasts and bland mass produced flavors, this little cafe stands out as authentic, quiet, and quite tasty. Came early on a Saturday morning, service was quick & extremely friendly. Had a croissant with eggs and cheese, egg frittata, fresh biscuit with honey butter. Really nice gem tucked away in Ft. Mill. Will return!

We just left Z’s and had a great experience. Our food was delayed but we were kept informed and they offered a very generous discount for the wait. Food was fantastic and the backyard area is kid-friendly. Our waitress was great and checked on us several times. We will definitely be back!

If I can give them 10 stars I would. This place is amazing, affordable, great food, amazing taste. You can feel in your mouth the high quality of the ingredients. I haven’t feel this peaceful atmosphere ever in any restaurant I been. Go there and support this business you won’t regret it.First time here and won’t be the last.

Our server, Shawn was excellent. He took his time with us and made some great recommendations. He also let us know. We could modify some of our choices if needed. We got the breakfast sandwich on the croissant and the lemon, blueberry ricotta stuffed French toast. it was just the right amount of food to share. We will definitely be back again! We took home a pastry to have later on that evening, and it was fantastic! And only five dollars!

I have been every Saturday for a month. From the sweet women who sits you to the servers who help you to the cooks making that awesome food. It’s the most homey tasting and feeling place ever. I haven’t met a single item I didn’t like. Their coffee is 10/10 and I love their baked goods. Breakfast every Saturday is a thing for us here now!

This is the cutest little place! From the outside, it looks like it might be your southern grandma’s yellow house (with several picnic tables for outside seating). Inside is cute and has more seating. I ordered the strawberry stuffed croissant French toast and it was incredible. I loved the whipped cream and fresh (soaked in juice, but not macerated) berries on the top (no weird strawberry-flavored-goo). The cream cheese filling was perfectly sweet - no need for the extra syrup they give you on the side in my opinion. I also ordered a “blueberry puff” to go. All the staff members were nice, helpful, and expedient. Check this place out for breakfast or lunch if you’re in the area. They’re open Wednesday - Sunday. 😊

This was my first time here personally. My wife has been once before, but today we stopped in with our youngest and we had a blast!! The Old Charm Feel and attentive staff really stood out to me. The transformation of the building and the grounds are looking great! Oh and last but not least, the food is great as well!! I consider myself a club sandwich expert and this did not disappoint! Awesome bakery items and treats for all ages. PS if you like Caesar Salad, the dressing is excellent! Thank you Z Bakery and Cafe for a great first visit. It definitely won’t be the last! Oh and I almost forgot, I love the fact that they feature local artist’s work and other small business owners. Ask what is for sale on the walls, a lot of it is!!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff! It is possible that I ate the most perfect sandwich to ever be eaten here. It is a great spot for lunch or breakfast, I will absolutely come back.

They offer lots of seating in different rooms of the this nicely updated old home turned cafe with great outdoor spaces too.

I attended a bridal shower and was very impressed! The beautiful venue was nicely decorated conducive to any event. The food was wonderful, most especially the chicken salad croissant. There are so many touches that were noticed by attendees that elevated the experience.

Very happy I stumbled upon this super cute little cafe while visiting Fort Mill. I stopped in on a Wednesday morning and enjoyed a nice breakfast of tomato spinach quiche and stuffed strawberry croissant French toast, along with a pot of English breakfast tea. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the service was fantastic. I wish I was staying here longer so that I could make a second trip back. Can't recommend this place enough.

Very good food and a nice menu variety for breakfast and lunch. I had the breakfast platter and strongly suggest getting the hash brown casserole. Bacon portion was generous. Another person at our table got the chicken salad croissant which was huge. Prices weren’t bad either. Inside is larger than you would think and decorated with local art which was for sale. Nice collaboration. They have some on premise parking and extra at the church across the street. Good location a couple blocks from downtown close to the police station. Very nice experience.

THE BEST breakfast place in/near 29708 with both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a to go option. Friendly, fast service by a caring team.

Make sure to come early on the weekend to get a freshly baked cinnamon roll (or call ahead and ask them to hold one or two for you). Brunch with creamy grits and hash brown casserole as well as 🥞 🥓 🍳 is until 11 am, the lunch menu features sandwiches, salads and many kids’ favorites.

Such a cute lunch spot just a short stroll from the heart of downtown! I know if I lived in the area, I'd pop by for a quick lunch often, but instead I'm planning to return sometime soon to try brunch!

Z Bakery and Cafe is set in a beautiful home just a block off of the main Street in Fort Mill proper. There is ample seating in one of the four rooms inside. Each is tastefully decorated with local artists work.

The food is great. We had pancakes, quiche, and blueberry French toast. Everything was excellent. We plan to become regulars for sure.

Time to FES up:

A great local spot! I have been trying this place since it opened. I think they have really improved on some things since the beginning.

F(ood): Most recently, I had a fabulous soup, turkey Reuben and pecan pie cupcake! I’ve also enjoyed the Mozzarella Panini. The Mac and cheese very good. I didn’t love my Belgian waffle at a breakfast but they were quick to make me another (too hard first time around). Mac and cheese very good. Need to try some salads. Overall very good food just once in awhile I’ll have something I don’t love. I’m giving five stars because last two meals were great!!

E(nvironment): a renovated house in downtown Fort Mill. Cute welcoming space. Can eat on porch, outside or there are various rooms in house. Local art adorn different areas. Able to reserve rooms.

S(Service): Always met with friendliness. Trina and Kristen have helped me organize a Sunday event and were extremely flexible and helpful. Service has always been friendly and accountable.

Good job on social media posts and email list serve! Seeing a post got me in the day they had their soup special and pecan pie cupcake. I ran into a friend also there for the cupcake!

***I also love that this locally owned group cares about their committee. They have had events on holidays to support those lonely, homeless, etc. Love in action!

I hosted a bridal shower at Z-Bakery and the experience and food was fabulous!! The staff answered all my questions as I was extremely stressed out planning a shower from out of state. We showed up and they were ready to assist in any way I could ask for to ensure that our guests had fun. As a Maid Of Honor, the prices were cost conservative than other venues throughout South Carolina and North Carolina, but the experience and staff did not lack. I wish I could lived closer because Z-Bakery would be my weekly brunch selection and I wish I could plan all future wedding and baby showers at this location.
