Tsunami

I decided to try this place out on a first date I was really excited for and I decided to put in the reservation that it was a first date. The waitress, who's name I sadly can't remember, came to get our drink orders in an appropriately timely manner and seemed keenly aware of the fact we were taking our time and that looking at the menu was going to take some time 😂.
I'm a bartender so I'm very picky over my cocktails and both I ordered were actually AMAZING so they definitely have a knowledgeable bartender.
The food was simple, in a very elegant way. Each dish had a personality and it knew how to express it.
The atmosphere was also just so wonderful. Understated, with a little chic modernity, just enough to still feel inspired rather than derivative. The sound of the restaurant stood out to me a lot. Great music choice, and the sound dampening is perfect. Just enough of the bustle gets through to remind you you're sharing moments with strangers, but also just perfect to make you and your date feel like the only two people that matter in that moment.
Please give this venue a shot, they will not disappoint and they deserve your money for their passion.

The food here reminds me of a very fond gastronomy memory from Cartagena Colombia.
The staff was amazing. I got the thai mussels appetizer, sea bass entree and lychee cobbler dessert.

We came here for our 4th wedding anniversary with our 15 month old in tow. The food was top notch (sea bass and shrimp pasta) the service was amazing, the drinks were fabulous. We cannot wait to come back. Thank-you to the chef and thank-you to our wait staff 🥰. We had a wonderful experience!

High service standards here and the food is great. I had the sautéed shrimp with mixed vegetables and coconut-turmeric sauce on the small plates menu - fantastic! My server was Jeff - refreshingly great service by Jeff! I highly recommend!

Exceptional, we loved it! We have the meatball appetizer (yum) and the potstickers - the dough was light and buttery and the potstickers were just the right amount of spicy. My son had the black bean soup, it was such a lovely creamy texture. I had the sea bass, it was cooked perfectly. My fam said the fish tacos were awesome, and I tasted the pasta myself, it was perfect! Desert was also amazing - we shared the creme brulee and the carrot cake was perfect. Our only critique was the flourless chocolate cake, it was a little too cocoa flavored, not rich, more bitter. I stand by "exceptional" because that one flub had no affect on our enjoyment of the meal, the atmosphere, and the wonderful service!

I had my birthday dinner at Tsunami… Jeff and Kaitlin were so sweet, professorial, and attentive. My guests were excited and raves about their experience! The sea bass is ALWAYS my favorite and it was delicious( cooked and served perfectly!

Meal was delicious!! We had the scallops and sea bass for our entree and they were excellent!!!

Service was equally exceptional!! We highly suggest dinner here.

This place is phenomenal. The food is always delicious and the service is always on point. My prefer to order from their nightly specials menu. Most recently, I tried the Mango Curd Tart dessert special. It was topped with lime whipped cream and kiwi and strawberry salsa and it was the bomb. I highly recommend this place.

This is one of the great restaurants in Memphis. Located in the Cooper Young area there is always activity right outside the door. The food is some of the best in Memphis and the waitstaff is alway professional!

Great food enjoyed by all. The service was impeccable for our small party. I was happy enough that I didn't bring up an irritation during paying of the bill--an alcoholic drink wasn't good and wasn't taken off the bill. Quiet enough venue with some outside seating!

My go-to! Fish prepared creatively yet simply. The Roasted Sea Bass on black Thai rice is legendary. But equally good are the weekly small plates of fresh fish served on genius set ups.

One of the best meals I've had in a very long time. They're sea bass with the black rice was absolutely the best fish I have ever had. Service was exquisite. Will be on my list of restaurants to eat and enjoy repeatedly!

The service and the meal was outta this world delicious. The scallops were on point with butternut squash raviolis and a brown butter sauce. Thank you so much Ben Smith, Kevin, Donny, Scarlett and the rest of the wonderful staff at Tsunami !!!

Wow! Always wanted to go there... always forget to. Until I didn't.

Inventive flavors from an exciting menu!
The bread and salted butter are a low-key star of the place.
Lots of dining space spread across two separate rooms, so it remains intimate.
Reservations recommended.

My husband and I have loved this restaurant for years and last night was an especially nice experience there. Without a reservation at Tsunami we arrived, after being rudely turned away from the rooftop bar/restaurant at the Memphian because one in our group couldn't prove she was over 21 (she's 76!) .
We were seated, served drinks and small plates and treated which such exquisite class and kindness. We'll never go back to the Memphis, but we'll always love Tsunami.

Tsunami is simply the best seafood in town! Food is excellent and consistent quality! Staff is super great! Be sure and try the Sea Bass.

I haven’t lived in Memphis for years, but Tsunami was always one of my favorites. Went there again last night and had the best service from Jeff. The interior decor and art remains wonderful and whimsical. The list of cocktails had some interesting and creative choices. And the food was excellent, just like I remembered. We had the potstickers, meatballs, noodles, 2 different salads, and the fish special. Yum! Big thanks to Ben and his staff. Thank you for being a bright spot in the Memphis dining scene and Cooper Young community

Ben and the team at Tsunami do a wonderful job. Consistently delicious dishes, friendly & professional service, and a great environment. The rotating small plates menu is my favorite and always has tasty, flavorful items to try out. One of my very favorite restaurants for over fifteen years!

The entire experience was superb!! The black bean soup is still the BEST (and with that smoked chile cream....Wow!)! The sea bass was wonderful - that is some seriously delicious food! And the strawberry crumble with the rosemary ice cream - YUM!! The bread, as always, is so fine!!
