A rare gem of a small, home-style restaurant. It’s a tiny cafe on the east side of Decatur. So glad I found this place! My meal was delicious and made from scratch. The chocolate pie was delicious too. No complaints. Great service. Will definitely be back 👌🏽

Sit yer caboose at the Whistle Stop for some good groceries in a classic throw-back, but not kitschy restaurant.
Homemade pies are always a good start, the lunch specials have generous portions, and the menu items are tasty as well.
Not a bunch of tables and popular with the locals so can get filled up at noon which slows the kitchen some, but the food is fresh and hot, the locals friendly and the service hustles.
Then check out the station next door made entirely of petrified wood!

This place is amazing!! We ate here the day before Thanksgiving and the pies that were pre-ordered wow!! Non stop people picking them up. Tiny place but down home cooking lots of history to this place !! We loved it. Should've saved room for pie. Maybe next visit!!! Highly recommended!!

What a great place! Everyone knew everyone and it was charming to hear all the conversations about local happenings. The food is just great food, done really well. Oh my goodness the pies!! What ever you order....save room for the pies!! It was a great experience and if given the chance, we will definitely be back!

Wonderful little place, off the beaten path but busy! Clearly a local favorite. Fried mushrooms were very tasty and probably the best mushroom swiss burger I've had in a while!! Great service...even though we arrived 20 minutes to close.

A great place to enjoy a good country style breakfast. Service is great, you'll never encounter an empty coffee cup. They also have a beautiful selection of fresh baked homemade pies!
The setting is awesome! This cafe was established in the 1920's. The cafe is part of a perfectly preserved early 1900's motel and gas station complex built of petrified wood. Take the time to stroll around after eating!

Very good place, I stopped in Decatur for a quick bite to eat and left very full the biscuits and gravy were very rich n flavor and u can say the biscuit was amazing, I loved every aspect of the cafe. The old diner feel the old town vibe. To the locals talking about the local talent and how they are playing state champions, super dope, I gotta go back and try the chili and the pies they looked very good

Cute little place with a mom and pop feel. 2 lunch specials, 1 burger, 3 drinks, and a slice of pie was $60 before tax and tip. I'm adding pics of the menu, but they have signs up that due to raising food costs they add $2 to each item.

Husband and teen LOVED IT. I didn't love it as much because I had to hear repeatedly from my child how their food is so much better than mine. Mixed feelings on that. 😁

Go, go early. Try to make it at 11. There's only a few tables. They close at 2, closed on weekends.

What a great experience! We placed our breakfast order and were eating in just over 5 minutes. My food was hot and cooked perfect, I had a veggie omelette with a biscuit some gravy and hash browns. We read a few reviews before coming here which were kinda of negative, but decided to give it a try anyway. So glad we did, others reviews suggested there was a long wait time between ordering and eating, but we practically had no wait. The restaurant isn't huge & I can see it filling up quick so get here early. If you pass this place up, you are missing out on a treat. The restaurant is family owned and they want your business, I was never overlooked and my glass was never empty. They cook all sorts of food and even homemade pies, the kind your great grandma made when you were a kid. If you never got to experience that, here is your chance!

Great old home breakfast in a historic setting. It was a step back in time, the way we'd go to Ft Worth before the new highway. Very nice people & good service. Not to be missed.

My family of 7 was taking our oldest daughter to Dallas airport to fly back to college. We stopped here on the drive. This was great food and service, with an old fashioned diner feel. When you step through the door you feel like you step back in time to the 50's and 60's. The old petrified wood stone building is small and won't hold a large amount of customers. But that gives it a cozy feel for the customers inside. Even the plates and dinnerware's were a retro to a childhood memories of old diners. Real ceramic plates. Cups were the old fashioned indestructible hard plastic cups of decade's past not those styrofoam cups of today that get littered onto our roads. The food was fresh cooked and a pleasure to the taste buds. They also had fresh baked pies for dessert out on the counters to make the mouth water. Ohhhh - did I ever want some of the chocolate pie. But I had my limit of sugar intake for the day and couldn't really get a piece no matter how badly I desired it. This was a Wonderful nostalgic experience. If anyone goes here. Go not just for the food but the experience of a little nostalgia. Set back . Put the cell phones down like they don't exist. Talk to the family and friends around the table, Relax and enjoy a treat of nostalgia and food. And don't forget to get a piece of old-fashioned chocolate pie for me.

Cute little country diner. Nothing crazy fancy. I had a bacon cheeseburger, not a top 5 burger that I’ve ever had but not bad at all. Fries were very good. I gave this place 5 stars because the pecan pie was amazing and the fries made up for the average burger.

small place, maybe 10 tables. service is efficient, all business. biscuits and sausage gravy were good and hearty. coffee was good too. atmosphere is what you'd expect in an old cafe which is okay with me.

This place is good homemade food place to eat at!
The mashed potatoes are real potatoes mashed....so good!
***Only thing is there is only 12tables at this cafe.****
***We showed up when it was busy ....we had to wait outside 20min.*****
***The thing i dont like is there is no checkin with waitress to put our name down.***
You have to hope that they dont forget about you.
Note....this is a historical location**
It is a fun place to visit!

We've been wanting to try this place and finally we did today. Beautiful historic buildings on the lot. The restaurant itself is very small, but the servers are very quick to clear off a table for new diners that want to sit down. Breakfast is served until 10:30. Me and the wife ordered Chicken Fried Steak. Everything was delicious and homemade. You can't beat a big hunk of fried meat for $8! They also make pies. Only tried the chocolate, but it's one of the best I've had. This place was worth the 30 mile trip!

Ok so I did NOT eat here! But I wanted to share this cool place next door! The old gas station... review is for this historic stop NOT the restaurant. 😊

Not only is this little diner a neat place to visit in general, the food is great! The staff was friendly, chicken fried steak had a great breading to meat ratio. I'm picky with chicken fried steak and this place hit it perfectly. I highly recommend checking them out!
