From The Ground Up

Since coming back to central WI, my partner and I had our first date in a while at the Coffee House. We came at 2:50pm, had our drinks and played our favorite card game before leaving. The owner let us stay til 4 without letting us know we’ve overstayed our time. 😅 I only realized this when we came back a second time that their closing time was at 3pm. Friendly service, wonderful display of arts, variety of books and games to choose from while staying there. And I love getting coffee served in mugs! The atmosphere is very cozy and homey!

I like it. Nice coffee. I've had really good lattes. Good service. They don't have a problem using my travel mug. Good food, like pastries, muffins, biscotti, bagels, sandwiches, and soup. Teas and coffee gifts. Love the variety of seating from tables, booths, and group size table in the back. Fun decor. Free little library inside. Bulletin board.

I work remotely, and although I have a fantastic home office, I work from libraries or coffee shops about once a week becaues there are just too many distractions at home. From The Ground Up is in my regular rotation of away-from-home work spaces. Some of the older reviews mention that there's no WiFi and they don't take card payments, but that is no longer the case, so don't let that deter you. It's a friendly atmosphere and the baristas are incredibly welcoming, even if you just buy one drink and sit in a booth or at a table for several hours. (Guilty.) I haven't tried the food, but it looks and smells great. My go-to drink is a mocha, and I've never had a bad mocha here in the 2+ years I've been coming in. This is a nice little coffee shop, and I'm glad we have a place like this in downtown Wisconsin Rapids.

really like this coffee shop! it’s a cafe/study area/ mini library. tons of types of coffee and different places to sit. didn’t get pictures but your coffee or latte comes in a mug (if you plan on staying)

Cozy and not overcrowded. Great place to do some work when in between appointments. I've eaten twice here and have enjoyed thoroughly!

Excellent place to meet your friends for a cup of coffee. The batista was friendly, and very good, and the windows were decorated for the holiday with antique mechanical elves.

This coffee shop has to be one of neatest ones I've ever been to! It's gorgeous on the inside and the coffee is delicious!

I was riding through Wisconsin Rapids and decided to stop by. Lovely place in downtown with fantastic coffee! I had the sunrise latte and it was splendid. Didn’t try the pastries but they looked appetizing!

Everyday I'm finding something new I like. The coffee no doubt is good but the tea is amazing. The baked goods are also very well done, made fresh daily.

From the kind and generous owner to the friendly “regulars” and the delicious coffee to the funky atmosphere (there’s a 60s VW bus behind the counter!), this coffee shop is just simply the best. Stop by for a cup of joe in the morning and you’re sure to walk out feeling like a million bucks. This place has my patronage for life!

We visit Wisconsin Rapids 2 or 3 times a year. This place has the best coffee and tea in town. Staff is always friendly and ready to say good morning.
A note to non-locals, stop at an ATM and get cash. They don't accept debit or credit cards. Still worth your while.

I love this place. The coffee is great. I live all the things to look at while you drink your coffee. The sandwiches I've had are good. . .their baked goods are great. I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookies. The have Life Is Good products, tshirts etc and lots of tea and fresh roasted beans in bulk. Great place

This place is bigger, cleaner and cozier than most coffee places I've gone into. The customer service is always really nice, and there's a really cozy atmosphere. Free WiFi, too. Also, the coffee is very tasty. Every time I'm in town this is my go-to.

Also: this place has a lot of kitschy decorations inside, murals on the walls, and even an old vw van and a mini weeniemobile inside.

This has been a favorite coffee hang out for years. Customers and staff are all warm and friendly. Great coffee and tea menu compliments with tasty bakery and sandwich options. Highly recommend.

Been coming here for years. Best coffee in town. Know the owner and he is very nice and hires nice people. Food is excellent, includes soup, sandwiches and pastries like cookies and scones. A bit expensive but worth it for the quality.
