The Wood Duck Bar and Grill

Kind of great local place you hope to find in your travels. And I found this one, and it was all it lived up to be.
Matthew's super super nice, the people will wonderful. The service was fantastic, and the food was fan freaking tastic barfood!

My wife, daughter, grandson, and I had lunch at the Wood Duck on January 18th. The food was wonderful. I would recommend anything on the menu. I've had the Voodoo chicken wings, and they were delicious. They have wraps, sandwiches, burgers, horseshoes, and much more. The sides are priced separately, but they're worth it. The place has a wonderful, friendly atmosphere, and is very kid friendly. My family is very choosy about eating out; so if they like the food it has to be good. I'll be back soon. Keep up the good work.

The food here is epic great wings and the ranch dressing is awesome! Cold beer and bar tenders are fun and quick! Everything we have ever eaten here has been great!

Pulled pork sandwich and onion rings. Ruben sandwich and chili was all great, waitress was very nice and fast kept drinks going and food was quick. Lots of family's and couples. It was a bit small inside had a bar when you first come inside. Pulled pork was so so good I will be going back when we go visit Carlinville again. Felt like home low light comforting.

Good food, very good service. Had waitresses come by our table every 2-3 minutes asking if we needed anything. 👍👍

Went here on a 12 Jeep, 30+ person Jeep cruise for lunch on a Saturday, the whole group LOVED the food and the service was very efficient and friendly! If you're in the area, it's got a great family dining area that's bright and clean with very fair prices

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant where the owner went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and appreciated. After being kicked off a train and stranded four hours away from home, I was feeling lost and frustrated. However, the hospitality and kindness shown by the owner was beyond comprehension.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm arms and a sincere concern for my well-being. The owner took the time to listen to my story and offered me a Pecan Pie Float Shot. The food was delicious, but the genuine care and concern shown by the owner left a lasting impression.

I am truly thankful for the kind and compassionate service provided by the owner of this restaurant. I will definitely be back to visit and highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for exceptional hospitality and delicious food. Thanks for having me 😊

Food was amazing! I had the kamikaze grilled cheese and the pulled port was excellent! Well worth the stop.

Each time I am in Carlinville visiting family I always find time to dine at The Wood Duck. The bar fare menu is really quite tasty and the prices are extremely reasonable during this time of rising food and other costs. The steak sandwich is off the chart awesome! Wings, burgers, horseshoes, Philly steak sandwiches and daily specials ALL have been tried by me and my friends and we have never been disappointed. Drinks are reasonable, the crowd tends to be 'hometown friendly' and the owner has an awesome personality and appreciates her patrons. I'll be visiting again in another week.

I eat here every chance I get! I always get the BBQ horseshoe and various appetizers. It’s the best around and can’t find another to top it. Always a friendly atmosphere. It does take a bit to get your food; however, they have signs saying that. My meal is always fresh

This place is great!! The owners are amazing and unbelievably friendly. They came up to us and talked to us like they knew who we were. They were extremely accommodating and the food was top notch too! I had the grouper and the breading was light and the fish was very tasty. My daughter had the pretzel bites and they were great too! If you’re in Carlinville or traveling through, I’d highly recommend you stop here!

The Wood Duck is always AWESOME!! I had the grilled chicken Horseshoe with sweet potato fries and the best ever cheese sauce on top, for the 1st time and it was FANTASTIC!! The service is always an A+ and I like the laid back feeling whenever we go there to eat! If ya get the Duck Pond adult drink......ya get a free rubber🦆 duckie! And ya gotta try the 1919 root beer too!! 🍺

This is a great stop for everyone. I’ve taken 3 groups of friends here and everyone has loved this place. The owner and her husband are very friendly. The bartenders are great and very friendly. The food is always so good. Be sure to order a duck pond drink while your there.

If you go make sure you are hungry. Had a great experience.

I’m celiac so tho I know what foods are gluten free, I have to be assured the food is still gluten free when I get it. Cross contamination is always a concern. Staff seemed well informed about gluten free and I had a grilled chicken salad with all the veggie options (no croutons of course) and it was so delicious! I so appreciate restaurants who train their staff on dietary restrictions! Thank you!!!

I love the wood duck! The food is always so good. You may wait a bit for it to come out, but it's worth the wait. If you love horseshoes, or you've never had one, you definitely have to get one from the wood duck!
