The Rock and Soul

5.4.24 @ 4:30 pm - The Rock and Soul is the most welcoming and appealing gem shop I've ever visited! What a pleasant surprise. I made a U-turn and glad I did. I visit gem shops all over the country, and this was such a beautiful experience. The vibe was peaceful, and the collection was vast and awe-striking. We were able to watch them mine/ clean gems. They have so many different exotic gems here. Thank you for being so welcoming and kind to us.

This is by far one of my most favorite rock and gem shops! These owners are some of the best and most informed owners on the very items they carry! I am a very frequent visitor to this shop and always walk away with a great specimen or two or three or four and more sometimes, I've lost count 😆. If you are in this area, stop by you will never see the same item twice,and you will walk away with something great I guarantee it. You also will never beat their great prices! I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great mineral specimen for a great price.

Just to add a little context to this review. The pictures shown are not in the shop itself. It is my personal collection, a lot of which came from this shop. The majority of the spheres and the stands they sit upon can be found here. As well as the terrariums. Enjoy your experience while you are there,and maybe I will see you there!

What a cool place with beautiful collections. I went in with the intent of just browsing but left with several stones after finding ones labeled as guardian stones to help navigate grief. Just what I needed today. The owner was very accommodating when packaging so that I could gift one to my mom and sister. Highly recommend

We stopped in the area to hike on the drive from Chicago on the way to St Louis. My kids and I loved choosing precious treasures here as souvenirs. They have a large and gorgeous inventory, but so many items are small and in my kids’ price range. They got birth stones, a gazing sphere (which my daughter is certain will help her see the future), a shark tooth, and special freebies from this kind and generous shop owner. For those of you more serious about gems and rocks, you should know I overheard her discussion lots of special items with passion. Stop here and let your kids (and you) spend their money on beautiful treasures and not plastic junk!

What a wonderful store! The owner is a beautiful soul who makes everyone who steps through the door feel like an old friend. And the selection of gems and crystals is breathtaking with several museum quality pieces on display. Worth the drive from Chicago just to see it!

What a delightful stop!!! Stopped on a whim and boy am I get a did! We are able to complete some Christmas shoppin, it was hard there was so many choices. Prices were reasonable, shop had a beautiful flow and wonderfully organized! Owner was training and new employee and I was impressed with her gentle voice towards her young employee. Packaging had a great personal touch! Look forward to many more stops!

I have passed this store a few times, when I have been in the area and they are usually closed, but today was the day. I drove by and to my surprise they were open. What a great collection of items to look through! For a smaller store space, it took me twice as long as I thought to go through the items, because there was so much beauty to take in. The prices were similar to other places in the Chicagoland area, but I would say some of their specimens were higher quality than other places I have seen locally. I would highly recommend checking this place out when you have time! I already plan on going back this fall.

Very friendly atmosphere when walking into the shop! Lots of variety with their crystals, rocks, and minerals here, with an abundant selection from all over the world! Loved the little fact sheets about each area within the sections. Its like a little museum but you get to purchase and take home with you! Also theyre very great with kids, but make sure theyre careful too! Some pieces are very rare and hard to find, with mesmerizing patterns and unique qualities! Hopefully will be back soon, thanks again!

First time visit was yesterday. Loved loved loved my experience. Christy the owner was so charming and helpful. She didn’t mind explaining the different variousness of the gem stones. We could have spent hours there. I left there feeling empowered and so incredibly happy. Looking forward to my next visit.

Had the GREATEST time making Mandela rocks last night! The class was awesome! Such a selection to shop from of crystals also. The sanctuary room is so peaceful. Cant wait to go back!!!!! Well worth the drive!!!!!

This is a great store! I love to visit rock shops whenever I get the chance. This one has a large selection in a small store. The owner is always bringing in new items. She is very knowledgeable. Her and her husband are both very personable. Her prices are pretty reasonable. It's a gem in the village!

The Rock and Soul is located near Starved Rock. When I walked in, I saw a lot of beautiful and colorful rocks, stones, jewelry and other accessories. The staff is welcoming and friendly. They are very knowledgeable in their business. Would highly recommend!

This little shop was amazing! The amount of crystals here is shocking and they are also very reasonably priced. I enjoyed talking to the lady in the shop. She was very helpful. Definitely will visit again.

Very cool shop. Almost museum like quality in the displays. They have a number of items in a variety of price ranges. Really appreciated that they let you look around with any sales pressure. Good vibes in this store.

This is the cutest place to take your kids. They have the nicest lady as an owner. The rock mining is decent price and lots of fun. Such a cute place. Definitely a must stop
