We love the Dolphin. Great food, service and atmosphere. Amazing views. And dog-friendly outdoor seating, in addition to dog-free indoor seating.

We went two consecutive days, once as a couple and then as a 5-person group. In each case, everything was excellent. We've now had the lobster, swordfish, salmon, fried clams, blueberry pie, carrot cake, key lime pie and the burger. We can recommend it all.

What an amazing venue over looking Dolphin Marina. We ate outside in the patio and we couldn’t ask for a better day. Our waitress suggested multiple dishes and they all came out cooked to perfection. Only Critique would be to have a designated bartender, for the drink line. They lost sales because of the 30 minute wait to get a drink. The bartenders were slammed along with taking care of tables and bar chairs. So the drink line would be unattended for 10 minutes at a time with 50 people in line.

Some of the best views from a restaurant! Our waitress was friendly, professional, and readily available. The food is a little on the pricey side but you can get creative. The views are spectacular!

Just had drinks. But the food looked and smelled great. Everyone seemed to be enjoying everything and themselves.
Indoor / outdoor seating. Deck or lawn seating overlooking the ocean.

Highly recommend the salmon and shrimp risotto, it was the best risotto I have ever tried. The restaurant has beautiful views. The blackened haddock sandwich was great. Gluten free options are available!

The food, atmosphere, view and the service was phenomenal. Our server was Kate and like the other reviewers Indicated she is the definition of what a good server should be. She was very attentive but not intrusive at all. We will definitely drive or fly from Toronto to just dine here again.

The nice location is complimented by great fresh seafood, and it comes with fresh blueberry muffins. This restaurant is already very popular.

Oh my goodness. Crazy amazing lobster soup. Best accentuating of lobster magic ever. Salad with goat cheese, blueberries, and hazelnuts was lovely. My partner loved his scallops. The views are outstanding and on a blue-sky August Friday afternoon the wait was short. This is my favorite restaurant experience in a long, long time.

We had a delightful lunch. Fish chowder was some of the best ever. Simply made, the ingedients were fresh and stood for themselves, not wallowing in an overly thick base. The blueberry muffins were a real treat. Perfect, airy lite crispy on rings. We were greeted in a friendly, sincere manner. Our server was engaging and most attentive. Highly recommend Dolphin Marina and Restaurant.

The service is top notch, from drinks to appetizers and even clearing plates. Great views, and all the food was excellent. Loved the blackened swordfish, the table loved the haddock, and the bacon wrapped scallops. Blueberry muffins and pie were as good as advertised.

Fresh and clean, tasty friendly creative but traditional. I really like the style of the chef’s light no heavy oils very clean. The lobster stew alone is worth the trip.

This is THE PLACE to see the coolest sunset in Maine. Lots of out seating area wrapping around the restaurant. This is one of the 2 we came back the 2nd time. They are closing for the 2022 so I’m not gonna list them food I would recommend as they might have a different menu next year. Over food food, good view.

When we land in Portland, we drive to the Dolphin for lobster. Then we plan our daily excursions so we can eat there two or three times more before we leave. We can't think of another place in the country we'd rather eat, and this year we are planning our vacation around their open and close of the season!

I went on my birthday and ordered a Caesar salad with a lobster roll sized portion on top. Can you smell freshness? Yes you can! There's a synchronicity between the experienced staff as they float around the dining room. Of course the ocean view is almost panoramic which adds a special touch of its own to enjoy. I would recommend a piece of fresh Maine blueberry pie. Definitely a must visit whenever you’re near the coast.

We had a short wait and even though we we're seated at an inside table, it offered a great panoramic view. That staff were really welcoming very timely with their service. The five of us all ordered something different and no one was disappointed. The food was excellent, but and had a very nice presentation. I ordered parmesan crusted haddock - wow! This place is a bit off the beaten path, but well wit worth the effort to find it. Plenty of parking, handicapped parking is available too.

The Dolphin Marina and Restaurant is the most amazing restaurant I have been to in a long time. The service is amazing, the food is amazing, the view is amazing, it's just an amazing place!! My wife and I had Kate as our server and she was super attentive to us but not in an intrusive way at all! She had wonderful suggestions and we will definitely be back!!!

July 5, 2021 - Like a puzzle with all the pieces fitting perfectly . . . The Dolphin Restaurant’s (Harpswell, Maine) great food, attentive service, and scenic coastal harbor views offers the perfect dining experience . . . which earns top rate of 5 !

Over the last 30 years our family treks Harpswell’s Rt. 123, enjoying the coastal scenery along the way to the Dolphin Restaurant. This family operated restaurant started in 1966. The Dolphin’s winning “fish chowder & blueberry muffin” combo contributed to its expansion in 2001, with a newly constructed 180 degree circular restaurant with loads of windows! On a sunny day, with cobalt skies & wispy clouds hovering above the boats nestled at Potts Harbor, who could deny these iconic Maine views?

What about the food? Lunch is always a bowl of their famous fish chowder, just the right amount of haddock fish chunks, potatoes, and onions in a buttery both! True fish chowders are not covered in bacon bits, drowning in a thick heavy cream broth, but rather a lighter broth. Thanks to Mimi & Bill Saxton for continuing their family’s secret fish chowdha recipe all these 50 years! Over the years we’ve eaten about all of their seafood combinations such as the fish & chips, broiled & fried scallops, fried clams, and this time the new blackened haddock sandwich. The menu offers items for those “land lovers” & children too . . . such as Curry Chicken, Braised short ribs, burgers, and Mac n’ cheese, and a couple of vegetarian options.

A big “ shout out” for providing 16 Maine beers ! I enjoyed a flight of 4 local Maine beers : ( few of the Maine brewers)

Allagash
Bissel Brothers
Baxter
Foundation Brewing
Lone Pine Brewing
Belfast
Orono Brewing
Boothbay Brewing
Atlantic

I hesitate mentioning the tourist stops (eg. Lands End, Giant Steps, Nubble’s Bait Shack, Cribbstone Bridge, Orrs Island Candy , Harpswell Cliff Trails, etc.) in Harpswell . . . which will draw more folks on summer vacations ( The Dolphin closes in the late fall & winter). Our server ( thanks Ambrose) mentioned that they can serve over a 1,000 people a day. All the pieces fit perfectly at the Dolphin Restaurant!

Amazing location with a fantastic view. Food was delicious and servers were so friendly and welcoming. They accept reservations for parties of six or more. In the summer this is a popular spot, so be prepared for a table in the summer.

Came here yesterday with my wife and her parents. My wife had the seafood risotto, which was incredible. I had a tuna dish that was very good. The others had haddock, which I tasted and pretty good as well. We also had calamari as an appetizer, and it might have been the best I've had. Service was excellent. The view was fantastic. The drinks were ok, but the pain killer was by far our favorite cocktail.
