We love Sugarloaf! There are trails, a nice playground, gaga ball, volleyball, bike riding, clean, clear water at the beach... it's beautiful and is our "home away from home"

Great place for a family weekend camping... More than a weekend if I could. Place has ice and water from 1 pm onwards at the camp office. All cleaning amenities for campers and RV. A small lake next to a play ground for little kids and GaGa ball, etc. Toilets and showers are reasonably clean and not crowded even though the camp was almost at capacity this weekend. Site has access to a mile long trekking loop and another much longer one. The view of the stars at night are breathtaking.

Sugarloaf Campgrounds was a very nice and, very well kept. The sites were large enough and it was fairly level. The bathhouse was really nice for a state park. There was plenty of room to ride bikes and the swimming area was just right for families. We regretted only getting to stay for one night. It's on my list of campgrounds to return to someday.

Great campground! The sites are grassy and relatively level. The playground, gaga ball pit, and beach are nice and well maintained. The bathrooms and showers were clean. It's a part of a much larger recreational area with lots of trails places to enjoy nature and the night sky.

We were just looking for a place to stay the night while making our way from Detroit to Chicago. We found this hidden gem campground and loved it so much that we decided to stay for more! The beach on the lake is nice and the water were so clear! The kids loved the playground. We arrived after the office was already closed but was directed by the nice camp hosts to park anywhere and just go to the office in the morning. Pull thru sites with electricity. At the entrance to the park there is a dump station and you can also fill out fresh drinking water.
We had a great stay.

Large sites, clean space, clear water, and good fishing! Only downfall is the beach needs to be bigger. Not a lot of social distancing because there wasn't enough room. Barely any phone signal, just a heads up. Bathrooms were nice enough. We enjoyed the 1 mile trail attached. Will return.

1st the road to get there is full of pot holes and very narrow. So take your time. Now with that being said, this is a great little campground, they have a small beach and play area close to each other. A boat launch and small dock for the fishermen. And the sites are very spacious and level. I will for warn, you cannot leave your car and trailer at the boat launch all night, even though there are no postings what so ever. I did get a stern talking to about that from a ranger. Even though last year it was allowed. If you like this one, try some of the other waterloo campgrounds.

Very nice clean campground. Larger campsites that are cared for well. Large playground next to the lake. There is a 1 mile hike starting behind the dump stations which was nice for a quick stroll withthedogs.

Great campground, with tons of trees and a nice beach, and a children's play area. I love that there is an attached mile-long trail for me and my dog RustyWiggleBottom. After speaking with the hosts, I've learned of an additional trail down the road that is 25 miles.

Living in the Detroit Metro this is my favorite place to go for a quick camping trip. My young kids love the playground and sandy beach too. We tent camp so it's nice to have clean bathrooms with showers.

Great location. Playground, beach, hiking trails. No cell phone service for a relaxing time. Donuts and hot chocolate, and crafts for the kids on the weekend.

Super clean location and nice sites everywhere. Easy kayak access too. Close to downtown Chelsea for some great food and drinks when you need a break from your break.

Super nice campground, big spots and nice tree coverage, the staff were super nice! Served hot chocolate and coffee in the morning. Just so you are aware there is very little cell service just so you know to prepare beforehand

One of the levelest sites (not just the site I was on, but the majority of them) that I have found a State Park. Beautiful view of the lake.

Lovely camogrounds. Lots of families. Bathrooms are reasonably clean considering the amount of traffic. Dogs are allowed. Great fire pits which the park service will move for you if it is in your way. There are planned activities scheduled. There's also a boat launch.

Great family camp ground. Electric on each site. Showers and restrooms and palaces to get water. The beach is awesome.
If you are tent camping I highly recommend putting all of your food and dog food in your car over night. The raccoons like to steal food. They even took it out of our cooler.
