The George Inn

This was an absolutely amazing experience. First of all, the restaurant was beautiful down to every detail. And the food was amazing with an excellent selection to choose from. We came here from New York City for my birthday because I like visiting major cities and towns in NJ. And since Vernon is the largest town in Sussex County, we decided we'd visit. And since this is a famous restaurant in Vernon, we just couldn't resist. And boy, are we happy that we didn't.

I just recently had my engagement party here and it was absolutely wonderful! The staff set the room up perfectly. I was aloud to get there ahead of time to put my center pieces and some personal touches on the tables. The food was hot and delicious. Cooked perfect. The staff made sure to ask me when I wanted the food out and when I wanted the dessert out. Always check in to see if the room was too cold or too hot. They even let us barrow their Bluetooth speakers so we could have background music. My guests and family had so much fun! Thank you again to the staff and owners of The George Inn for adding to this special day!

This was the first time for me. The atmosphere was great. There was a big bar and lots of tables in the bar area. There was an adjacent dining room. They had about 10 beers on tap and a wide selection of wines. They have a sales area for beer, wine and alcohol inside the building.
They open at 9:00am and are open 7 days a week. They have been there since 1872.
And the food was delicious.

We had a great dinner here. The owner is super friendly and even sent us home with a free bottle of each of their home made root beer and cream soda. We had the thanksgiving turkey special and the greek pasta. Food was awesome, home cooked and delicious. Great value for the money, too.

The food is great here. I came here twice with my husband, who partakes in the spartan races nearby. Both times we enjoyed our meal. The waitress is very kind and attentive. If I am in the area, I will come back.

I was a little hesitant with a 2.5 star Google rating, but what a great place. atmosphere, service, and the food was excellent. the price was really good too. The menu shows a little history of the restaurant, and has been running 130 years. I will definitely be returning in the future.

This is the place to be after you finish skiing or you just need a place to hang out to eat food ....

The menu is awesome ..... Stop by and have some food ..... My favorite things on the menus are the burgers .....

Stopped in for some packaged goods, and what a variety they had. Prices were good and the counter help was great 👍.

We had a wonderful wedding rehearsal dinner at the George Inn. The private room was beautiful and dinner was delicious. The staff is amazing and extremely helpful. Many thanks for a special evening.

A much more extensive menu than I was expecting. The food was great as well as the drinks. We are staying at crystal springs and couldn’t get a reservation at dinner so we came here. What a pleasant surprise. Much better than anything we would have eaten at the resort. Service was a little slow, but luckily we were in no rush. We are going back for the second night as well, I’m all for better tasting food at a great price.

Really big menu and the food was very good. Draft selection was limited due to Covid 19 but they had some nice IPAs in bottles so that was cool. Service was really friendly but really slow. However, it's COVID right now so we have to excuse that. Outdoor seating is fine but near the road which is loud. It'll be nice to go inside again! Overall, a really nice dining experience and we'll be back. Also, Ice Cream place down the road is a nice bonus...

Me & my husband `had Christmas Eve dinner .here today .The food was excellent I had the salmon with rice very tasty ,salad was very fresh .my husband had the stake he love it .We were so happy with our dinner & the people very friendly especially our waiter his name is James ,highly recommended him & I want to complement him for the best service we had with him ,he the best can't wait to go back & hope James still be there .working so he can serve us again .

We went in in the last hour of a weekday, and Heather took care of us as if she was our own mother. We had a party of 8, and she anticipated our every need.

What a wonderful place. They have an extensive menu to please everyone. The prices are moderate and the portions were more than enough. The staff was pleasant and attentive. ☺

Great taco salad, fish and chips, B L T, sweet potato fries. Our group of 8 enjoyed our meals.

We had a buffet dinner for our Rotary Club's new officer installation here. The buffet was probably one of the best in the area. Everything was prepared very well with a good variety which is not often the case with buffets. The drink server and staff were very attentive.
I have been here in the past for a normal dinner and that is very good as well. They have a large bar area with music on occasion. They also have a full liquor store. Enjoy your visit and your eats.

The atmosphere was was great several tables are made more private divided by partitions.
Service was great and the food was fresh and tasty.
We didn’t not feel rushed at all. Overall, our experience was excellent. John always treats us like family.

I can't remember a time that I've been at the George Inn where I had any issues. Anybody that knows me knows I usually find and exploit a flaw here and there but they've always taken care of my family and that works for me. Their penne a la vodka is a hit continuously and their burgers can't go wrong. The food continues to satisfy my appetite. It's worth a trip if you haven't been here. It's nice but not too fancy. Even if you disagree and one-off this place, at least you can say you stopped by. Even they appreciate it.
