Martha Merrell's Books & Toys

This is one of my favorite local Waukesha businesses. It has that cozy, local bookstore feel. The selection is amazing. We were looking for a specific book for a student my husband tutors, and the owner personally ordered the book, and called us when it came in. You just can’t beat the personal service, the selection of books for all age readers, the puzzles and the unique gifts. And they host a wonderful little winter farmer’s market.

Wonderful community centered independent bookstore run by two public school educators. Fantastic selection of books, toys and games of every sort.

I stopped in last night with my daughter near closing time to pick up some last minute books for my son’s birthday. We were immediately helped and shown where all the books we were looking for a 6 year old were and more. Martha had a deep knowledge and love of books and authors. Their selection was impressive and the icing on the cake was the gift wrapping service. We got to hear a lot about the store’s history and how involved they are with the community. It was like stepping into another world. We will be back, city gems like this are so inspiring and important!

I come here primarily for the winter farmer's market but I've visited this place since I was a kid and love to see it still active!

You can always find something worth gifting to others or yourself here. Great selection for kids, and if they don't have it, they can offer to order it for you. They're very accommodating and knowledgeable and up-to-date with local work.

Excellent hands on service! Great deals and a pretty wide selection for the size of the store. They have a lot of good things in the works, please check them out if you love bookstores!

My grandchildren and I love our regular visits to the bookstore. Eve and Norm are wonderful with the kids. Eve spends time with each of them individually to help them find books that they will enjoy and are challenging for them. She knows so much about children's books. We also love all the stuffed toys and educational items. They love to explore the store. There is always something new to see. I buy many baby gifts there as well. They put them in cute gift bags. I can always find a special gift in a variety of price ranges there. They have a reward program which is a nice bonus. The bookstore is a destination for us. Each time I am there I love watching the kids and their interactions with each other and Eve as they find something they like. The store reminds me of a favorite movie with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan-You've Got Mail about a very special bookstore that mesmerizes people of all ages with an owner who loves sharing her love for books. A wonderful, cozy bookstore with comfortable chairs to read in, snacks and beverages for sale, and very friendly staff. They also have the most AMAZING selection of soft, furry and fluffy hand puppets!!! Everything from the basic dog to a dragon. So cool😁

Such a cute local book shop and the owners are so friendly. One of the few places that will still wrap gifts for you too! They have an awesome selection and if they don’t have what you want in stock they will order it for you and tell you when it comes in. They also have a coffee shop and places to sit and read.

I really like there acrylic/crystal sun catchers as well as their gift and toy selection. Their prices, quality and selection of merchandise. I've gone here many times over the years and I recommend this shop for anyone looking to purchase gifts for others or even themselves.

The couple that owns Martha Merrell's bookstore are quite helpful and kind. The store is delightful to wander through and find unique gifts and books. Our book club meets here and is always made to feel welcome.

Our favorite shop in downtown Waukesha. Huge selection, great prices, great customer service. Lots of activities for the kids and adults alike. Plus Great Harvest bread and cookies. We never go downtown without at least stopping in. Don't miss it.

I called Martha Merrell’s to purchase a gift for my nephew’s first birthday. They not only suggested great books and had everything on my list but wrapped them all beautifully! Shop small and support local stores like this vs. Amazon!!! The service is worth it!

I had a five dollar coupon from a past purchase. They have a loyalty program where you get five dollars off after you have spent a certain amount. I had received the coupon last year but they took it.
As you can tell, I love visiting this bookstore. He has special ordered a cookbook for me to look at and see if I wanted it once.

Books. Toys. Gifts. Nice selection of local authors. Host to book clubs. Give yourself time to look around. Small surprises tucked here and there. Owners are very service oriented. If a book isn't in stock, they'll do their best to find it for you.

A great selection of best sellers and latest releases. If they don't have what you're looking for, they will order it and it's usually in within 2 - 4 days. They also have a large selection of greeting cards, games, toys, stuffed animals.
