I adopted an amazing, older Amazon parrot here. The care and cleanliness of all the rescues is exemplary. The staff is extremely experienced and knowledgeable. This is a wonderful place.

I adopt multiple birds from C.A.R.E. First of all process simple applications in just 1 step. Second cage size you have to provide to them if you have existed setup for your bird. Third, you need to come in and take a look at the bird you're tried to adopt (you need to get the bird out of the cage). A lot of reviews down there or past time is just unreasonable. The owner or head of the rescue center can be rude because they wanted to find a good home for the birds. Usually, you guys have to understand what you get your feet into. Adopt the bird not like ok I get the bird and go he play with it. A lot of birds come back to this center multiple times because they think the bird is cute and adopted it. Then they got a bite from the bird got scared and give it back to the center or worst lock the bird in the basement or garage. That is why the application is not like ok I got approved and come pick up the bird. You have to show them your home is a good home for their birds.

This is a wonderful rescue and sanctuary that does everything they can for the animals in their care. I'm going through my second adoption with them right now and have had no problem with the high adoption standards they maintain. The staff and volunteers have been very nice and great to work with. In addition to parrots, doves, and finches they also rehome guinea pigs and elderly dogs. There are used birdcages for sale along with food and toys made by the volunteers.

I got my bird here 5 years ago and I wouldn’t go anywhere else to adopt parrots. Amazing toys and budget cages, sell a variety of high quality bird food, and the birds are very well cared for. They really make sure that the birds are going to good homes as well, which is a big deal. Some staff/volunteers can come across as crass at first, but once you know them they’re angels, and they all truly care.

I found Oliver here. A male blue crowned conure. And I'm in love!
The staff are careful in screening to make sure their birds are going to a good safe home. And they have a variety of foods and toys. It is also EXTREMELY helpful that they trim talons. 🤟😎👍

Great place for Bird lovers and responsible adopters!

This rescue has high standards for adoption and its greatly appreciated. We've adopted over 8 birds over the years and their requests for safety, size of cages and clear expectations prior to adoption are always reasonable. A good portion of these birds come from breeders who sell to anyone and they end up surrendered here for their safety and care because people don't do the proper things to protect these birds from further distress. Many other surrenders are the result of aging owners who cannot care for them anymore , people who dump them for various reasons and those owners who have passed away. Potential adoptees who are refused are refused because of non compliance with adoption standards or have history of not demonstrating of proper veterinary care.

Without the dedicated work of this Center and the dedicated operators, and its volunteers, many birds would be in danger or abused.

Keep up the great work !!

Sadly I had to surrender two budgies today but I know that they are in great hands. The women there were so sweet, understanding, and overall kind about the whole situation. I got to see where my budgies would go and how they would be taken care of. Very supportive and amazing group of people!

Friendly, helpful staff of volunteers that cares for and about the animals in their care. Animal adoptions to approved homes. My parents and I have adopted a total of eight birds from here and would do so again. They stock toys, accessories, cages, and food for birds and help you make sure you have everything your new friend will need. My mom used to volunteer here and my dad still does.

The birds are all very well cared for. The staff went above and beyond to go out of their way to give me and my young daughter a tour. What a great memorable day for her. Grateful to have people passionate about what they do. Keep up the great work!

I'm able to board my birds with people I know that will look after them properly and care about them. They appreciate any donation. Thanks for caring about all of these birds.

Love this place. It's not a pet store. Here you are not the most important thing. They don't NEED you to take something home. The focus is completely and entirely on the birds. Pet stores sell birds to anyone. A majority of those people should never have purchased one because birds need love, attention and interaction. Some of the birds here came from a bad home and others from a great home that the owner became too sick, old or died. You may get an attitude or the sense of one here. But that is because they only want a bird to leave if they are confident it's going to its forever home. If you love birds you will greatly appreciate this amazing rescue.

We unfortunately had to surrender our 2 budgies due to increasing allergic reactions to them

While surrendering we got to look around and the facility and cages are all super clean, birds looked well cared for. There was no judgment from them and they made this difficult situation as easy as they could.

Highly reccomend them for surrendering, adopting, as well as buying toys/cages!

My twins and I visited the center today and were amazed. I want to say that they staff is amazing. Big John who educated us and gave us the tour is a true delight. He is fantastic. The kids adored him and I was very impressed. I would highly suggest a visit for all ages. The birds are gorgeous and there is so much to learn and be entertained by them. Waukesha is lucky to have this facility and encourage you to visit. We will stop by often to say hello to the staff and visit the residents for sure !
Thank you sincerely !

What a wonderful place!!! I fell in love with the first bird. A beautiful white cockatoo looked at me and be said, 'Hello, how are you? I love you.' I was a goner after that.

They do a great job with the birds. All is clean; the birds are well taken care of and fed. Wish I could adopt one.

I cannot stress enough how amazing this shelter is. Mary (the owner) is passionate, dedicated, helpful and truly loves every single animal that comes through her doors. The volunteers are amazing as well. If under any circumstances you have or know of a bird that needs surrendering, know that CARE will find the absolute best home for your little feathered friend :)

I love absolutely everything these guys stand for. I have loved birds all my life, and it's great to see others who care too. I love that they're nonprofit. The people who staff are volunteers who love animals! Their products are reliable because they do it for the bird (not for the profit). All of the birds are vetted, fed, socialized, and are clean. The only problem I have is that I cannot adopt all of the birds!

The premier facility for bird adoption in SE Wisconsin. Highly recommend. They do an amazing job, and are a nonprofit with volunteer labor. Please support them financially if you are able.
