Ellen's on Front

Expectations. My expectations were of the highest degree when I entered this seemingly delightful establishment. Disappointment. This is the emotion I experienced as I grabbed the mystery-flavored dum-dum lollipop left for me. I unwrapped the treat and saw something that culminated my whole experience. A butterscotch flavored lollipop. Atrocious. My troubles began when I sat on the uncomfortable wooden chairs; my back yearned for comfort without resolution. I waited 22 minutes and 38 seconds for my appetizers to appear. These appetizers were the only saving grace to my dining experience that evening. The buns, although ten minutes delayed, were moist, filled with life and joy. The meatballs simply tasted scrumptious. I soon ordered a burger with no toppings, but only extra mayonnaise. Then, I spent many minutes imagining what could arrive at my table. Would this burger truly have the amount of mayonnaise I desired? I tried to be nonchalant; I asked only once when my burger would be ready. 1 hour and 36 minutes. This was the time I waited for my mayonnaise covered burger. Yet, I looked with horror as I received ten pieces of fried chicken. At that moment I thought I’ve had enough. I reluctantly gobbled down all ten pieces. Now, as I reflect on this experience, I’ve come to a seemingly paradoxical conclusion: within all this confusion lies the truth. Maybe, I only waited 20 minutes for my food. Maybe, The chicken was seasoned well. Maybe, just maybe, all of my concerns are just the result of my confusing mind. I entered that restaurant knowing that I may have either a good or bad experience. My mind chose the latter. My heart knew the truth. I thank this restaurant for teaching me that.

I cannot say enough good words about Ellen’s on Front. I had my bridal shower here with a Valentines Day cocktail hour theme and it was absolutely perfect. The owners, Andrew and Jennie, are the most accommodating, hard working and attentive people. From the very start they took the vision of what I wanted and ran with it. The food and cocktails were delicious and the ambiance is so well thought out and beautiful. Each staff member did not stop for a minute the entire night, all while having a smile on their face. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more to family and friends for not only special events in your life but for a delicious meal on any night of the week. Andrew, Jennie, and their gorgeous mother Ellen, truly embrace the culture and family values of the North Fork.

My family and I went to Ellen’s on Front in Greenport this weekend. Everything we ordered was amazing. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The fried chicken with the hot honey sauce was amazing. The Cacio E Pepe Pastina was light and fluffy. We also loved that the restaurant featured wines from local North Fork vineyards. The inside is decorated beautifully with high ceilings an abstract painting on one wall and an elegant painting of Ellen above the bar. Our waitress was attentive and had a smile on her face and the owner greeted us when we came in and even chatted with us at the table. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is so good! Very nice ambience and service, but the real star is the incredible food. Unique, delicious interpretations of food you already love. If you’re visiting from another place, this is also located in Greenport which is a beautiful waterfront town with lots of fun shops to visit. Try it!

We came to Ellen’s on the first night of our honeymoon (same day we got married). I mentioned as much in my reservation and they pulled out ALL of the stops. Combining such a special level of service with truly phenomenal food... I cannot recommend the place enough. You shouldn’t leave Greenport without eating here, every aspect of the meal was phenomenal.

Delicious food! Sitting down eating now Ellen’s on Front is worth a look. Fresh food, served hot and ready to eat. I would eat her again if in Greenport.

The waitress was very friendly and courteous, the food was amazing the grilled peppers was very tasty, the fried chicken was crispy and juicy without being greasy, the dessert was amazing A custard type with fruit

This was my husband and I's first time eating here and I so wish they were in NYC!! I would eat here every week if I could. The grilled Caesar was perfectly charred and the crispy chickpeas were delicious. The duck wings - speechless. The skin was so perfectly crispy and not over sauced. You could really taste the duck, which was moist and cooked to perfection. The fried rice was not only comforting, but extremely flavorful without being too salty. Fried rice can typically be simple, but this had so much personality. The atmosphere is adorable and the service was great. Would definitely recommend eating here if you're in Greenport.

Lucy is amazing - works behind the bar and out in the floor effortlessly. The food is fantastic but if the service stinks it doesn’t matter. Ellen’s hits the nail on the head.

Thank you Ellen’s on Front + Family! After receiving a raving recommendation, I ate here for lunch alone on the patio outside. The signature duck fried rice is filled with complex flavors. Absolutely delicious and a great portion. I am already looking forward to eating the leftovers!!

I stopped into Ellen’s by chance and I’m sure glad I did. My meal was delicious and the staff were accommodating and kind. I am a wine drinker but the signature cocktail looked great....next time for sure. Definitely worth stopping by and I will be back for sure.

Delightful understated place - feels under the radar a bit. But the team was lovely and the food was terrific. Very gracious with kids - great kids menu ($9!) and star pasta - a total hit. Will be our go to. Low-key and gracious.

I immediately felt right at home at Ellen's on Front. Their friendly staff walked me through their menu favorites, from comfort food to their crispy quinoa salads. A number of items had a fun flair to them, like their gazpacho with jalapeños and bloomin' broccoli with orange marmelade. Their drinks were great and very reasonably priced, too! My family and I had the opportunity to meet Andrew and his sister, Jenny, the brother and sister partner-in-crime duo who run the business and kitchen respectively. It was my first time in Greenport - I would take two ferries again in a heartbeat just to get back to Ellen's.

My sister in law had the rehearsal dinner for her wedding here. We were met with excellent service, delicious food and drink, and a welcoming environment. Towards the end of the evening Andrew came around and greeted us and even offered suggestions of things to do in the area with children as he noticed we were traveling with 2 young boys. We appreciated that so much.

Amazing family dinner! Came in late on a busy Sunday night and we were seated and treated like family. Great drinks, the staff was even better. The food was delicious, came out prompt and even our picky 6 year old ate everything on her plate. Thank you Andrew, Ellen and special thanks to Chef Jennie for spending time with our little aspiring chef. Couldn’t recommend it more. This will be a regular stop for us anytime we are in Greenport.

There were so many fun and exciting options on the menu! It was such a cool variety of flavor profiles available. Eventually, my wife and I ordered two entrees and a starter to share and they were all great! Probably not surprising at this point, but the cocktails were also unique (and good). We’ll definitely come back here!

- Shrimp Toast

Food was awesome. Met the owner. Very friendly. Had the fish and chips and calamari. Very good. Mushy peas at last!

Had such a great meal here on a Saturday afternoon. The food and service were both great. Fried rice, BLT, and egg sandwich but the calamari was the absolute highlight!
