This place is the most awesome establishment I've visited in a long time. The food was absolutely the best I've had, and the ice cream is out of this world. The staff is very courteous and happy. They make your experience a real pleasure. My family and I returned the next day for breakfast, and they didn't disappoint. They also have a gift shop attached to the restaurant and it is very reasonably priced.

Consistent delicious food, friendly long-time owner that always stops by your table, even if she's not waiting on you, and asks how you're doing. Fun upstairs shopping you can browse while you're waiting for your food. Also has a 75 to 90 percent off room!

Lunch spot must try if you are in the area .
Sandwiches are delicious. The Beet salad is 1 of my favs.soup are on point. Always hot & delicious.service is great. Food comes out rather quickly together for table. Settingis a old building that dates back to 1912. originally built for a high school for the students in the area later turning into a courthouse. Upstairs is a very unique shopping experience. if you were looking for one of the gifts, you will definitely find There. They also offer clothing, which is unique and beautiful, especially the winter apparel 👍

Kinda like The Silo and Papa's Diner. Great food, and fancy casual atmosphere with a gift shop👍
My travel ambassador friend says it's the only restaurant that gets everything right, including the soup temperature.

Just out of curiosity I had to go read why some people gave this place fewer than 4 stars. Get a grip, folks. Great sandwiches. Shakes to die for. Fantastic nostalgic decor. Way cute place with a hard working staff who, ok, get stretched a little thin when the place is busy. Is there some kind of rush when you're in the mountains!?

The food doesn't look like it was "plated" by a food net chef - it's simply appetizing, tastes great, and pleasantly served.

The nostalgic decor - old soda fountain/diner is very fun. There's an enormous gift/clothing/jewelry shop upstairs. The side yard has Adirondack chairs and picnic tables for sitting around with an ice cream cone. The building itself, on national historic register, is worth checking out.

Well done, folks!

My husband and I found Main Street Ice Cream Parlor by accident driving around while on vacation about 6 years ago. We now go every year. The food and service is great! Staff is always pleasant!!! It helps that there is a quaint shop upstairs where you will not leave empty handed!! We look forward to going back next year.

Fantastic spot for locals and visitors. Breakfast and lunch are great. Tasty and inexpensive fare set in a historic turn of the century schoolhouse, decorated with plenty of local vintage photos and memorabilia to provide a nice history lesson of Chestertown. General store is fun and immersive too. Loved the atmosphere and the staff and will come back!

It's a nice little spot that has decor and items from varying decades. We got there at 3:45 and they were getting ready to close the kitchen down for 4:00, but they were willing to accommodate us which was cool.

I started with a Nantucket chowder, which was really good. For the main I got a Main Street Melt. I was pretty surprised by how big the sandwich was. Plus it came with a side of macaroni, watermelon (so good!), and a pickle. FYI, they don't have a fryer so they don't serve things like fries or chicken fingers. They weren't missed though.

Walking in here is like taking a step back in time! This place has that nostalgic atmosphere of when Coke was king and soda jerks served. The waitresses were all very nice and the prices were reasonable. We only went for ice-cream and it was delicious. Very creamy and full of flavor. The gift shop upstairs had plenty of goodies to choose from! The Adirondack soap they sell smells amazing! Well, at least to an outdoor enthusiast like myself. We'll definitely be back!

Good selections for such a small place. There's a candy store/souvenir shop on the same floor and a full-on gift-shop/souvenir shop upstairs (no elevator) with many local-made/handmade gifts. There's some outdoor eating tables under a tent. There's even a few (four?) historic grave-markers over to the far side of the parking lot for history buffs.

I can't say how worth it dining here is enough! Friendly staff. Awesome vintage decor. Yummy food and delicious Hershey's ice cream. There are many local items for sale on the first and second that are worth checking out. So glad we took the suggestion to eat here after riding at Circle B Ranch.
