Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital

This is such an awesome hospital. I was there from 11/27 - 12/8/2023. I had been transferred by ambulance over to this hospital after spending a night in CPEP on 11/26 at the main Stonybrook hospital. The staff in 2 South are very nice, friendly, caring and helpful. They listened and cared for me when something was bothering me and they also accepted my special accommodations as well. The meals were very good including their pancakes, scrambled eggs, fish, meat and even their homemade personal pizzas. The snacks were very good as well. The recreation and therapy groups were very good as well.

Thank goodness for the existence of psychiatric inpatient units as they take care of our mental health issues.

I highly recommend this place for patient health care and others.

Went there with abdominal / groin pain and diagnosed with a hernia. Nursing staff was wonderful - caring and friendly. The chief of surgery came out and spent time speaking with me and I am going this week to schedule my surgery there. Since I am now a full time resident of the North Fork it is very comforting to know there is such a tremendous facility close by.

By the grace of God, I was transferred here a little over 2 years ago, coming from CPEP.
It was a very positive experience personally! The staff was very supportive and helpful, they always filled up my water when I needed and were willing to listen to what I had to say.
Wendy was extremely supportive and caring! She always gave me what I needed and was willing to chat a little as well!
Stacy was helpful as well, as she helped me settle into the place, and kept my mind at ease!
The overnight man Charles I believe? This man would check in on me every hour of the night!—Seeing if I was sleeping, and after he came in the third time, he knew exactly what I needed.
Snacks were given as well, and they let me outside to feed the animals! It’s a beautiful hospital off the coast of the bay, and you have a great view from the physciatric ward.
The hand of the Lord was on the people at this hospital!

I was very thankful and impressed with the efficiency and care I got in the ER at ELI on 11/28/23. The entire staff and particularly Dr. Mark Fenig were so caring and I am very grateful to them all. Thanks so much, Constantine Makris

My mother-in-law recently passed away in the care of this hospital's ICU. She was 99 years old and in failing health. Our entire family congregated in her room to help her ensure a comfortable and peaceful transition. Each and every nurse and doctor at this hospital were caring, attentive, understanding in a time when we were at our lowest.They brought us coffee, tea, cookies and more...mostly, they brought us compassion and care. We all feel strongly that we could not have asked for a better facility.

When I was at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, the service was really great and everyone treated me with kindness and respect. I’d like to personally shout out Kenya, a nurse who was very easy to talk to and extremely patient. I feel comfortable recommending this hospital to anyone in the area.

I had severe pain in my right side which turned out to be a twisted ovary and a cyst In my fallopian tube. The staff in the ER were attentive and compassionate. They decided that surgery was necessary and wisely advised me to go to Good Sam. I would highly recommend this hospital.

October 23 I experienced extremely severe lower back pain. At 3 pm the pain was so intense I went to the Emergency Room at ELIH. The check in staff were open and friendly and quickly completed my admission papers. I was turned over to the ER nurse, Angela who took history and vitals. Quite efficiently and with compassion towards my pain. Christopher Edelstein was in charge of ER desk and listened intently and informed me of the possibile conditions. He immediately ordered a technician to perform a CT scan of my body. Knowing my family and medical history of aortic aneurysms he ordered further testing. The discomfort from the procedure was apparent to the Tech and he tried his best to comfort me. Christopher then ordered ultra sound testing. Laura Nagida performed a series of ultra sound tests which required considerable time. All thru these procedures Laura was very very patient and understood the pain I was experiencing.Her professionalism truly showed off her great ability to keep a pained patient comfortable. start to finish I want to thank all the ER staff with their technicians. Fortunately the condition did not require overnight stay at the hospital. Elliot Levine

My mother had very high blood pressure and a bad headache. Brought her to the ER. They were quick and considerate, kind and professional, thorough and personable. Did all the tests and quickly got her BP down. I think they averted a possible stroke. Thank God, and thank the ER staff at ELIH!

We were at ELIH emergency room Saturday night. They saw my husband immediately who was having a sever peanut allergy reaction. The CAT scan technition was sleeping at the hospital and got a report back within 5 mins. They administered the drugs to calm the reaction and called in a surgical team who all traveled very far in the middle of the night. Despite my husband arguing not to have a breathing tube inserted they talked him into it (which was no easy task) and saved his life. They did a tracheostomy and then transferred him to Stony Brook. Everyone from the ER doctor, nurses, technician, surgical team, ICU nurse were such professionals and all around lovely people. We will be forever thankful to all of them. I sleep easier knowing ELIH is our local hospital.

I had come into the ER with an injury while I was visiting Long Island this summer. There was little to no wait to be seen and the nurses, staff, and doctors did an amazing job at making me feel comfortable and providing excellent care.

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful hospital in our community! ER staff is amazing!
