First and South Restaurant & Bar

Wonderful little restaurant. Food is fantastic. We stopped by for Sunday brunch. Homemade pop tart and biscuits out first amazing!!! Everything else fantastic. The bacon comes in slabs and is wonderful.

Solid menu with small twists on classic dishes that elevate them. The Kale Caesar Salad included bites of crisp apple, something that worked surprisingly well. I do not know the magic they use to create their french fries, and my only regret is not going back another day for a meal that was french-fry-centric.

I would eat here a second time, a third time, a fourth time… fantastic. My first shout-out will have to be the triple-blanched fries. I have never, ever, had a better fry. I’m sure that sounds not particularly exciting, but if you get them you’ll understand.

Entrees: tuna burger, steamed mussels. Both delicious.

Drinks-wise, we went with the Huckleberry Lemonade, Peach Iced Tea, and the Boris & Natasha (not pictured).

This was a great lunch, and the service was excellent to boot.

Wonderful food and service. Good local beer. Great vegetarian cooking. Try the maple carrots with humus. Nicely prepared salmon.

They are open on Tumbleweed Tuesday's with live music, a great bar, low lighting and loud tunes. Had the mac and cheese, yummy! The whole staff takes care of you, it's a great team environment, beautiful in and out and they have Polynesian parties several nights a week. A must visit!!!

Amazing food. The kale Caesar was amazing. Perfectly massaged kale in it. I would absolutely recommend. Definitely make a reservation...it was quite busy even in the off season.

5 STARS all the way! 10 out of 10! The food was fantastic there wasn't a single dish I didn't like. Everything was fresh and made from scratch. You can tell they take pride in every thing they do especially thier food. Three different starters 2 entrees and a dessert. All the flavors worked perfect together I wish I lived closer. This would be a go to spot!

Absolutely incredible meal! We came in at 3 (which is close) and they STILL seated and served us with a smile.
The chowder was homemade and impeccable. The Oyster Po’Boy was phenomenal. The steamed mussels were divine. The Bloody Mary and Bellini were delicious and strong. The Oatmeal Pie dessert was SPECTACULAR!!!
Each worker we interacted with was kind, friendly, polite, and engaging. Overall First and South has been hospitable, delicious, and pleasant. I would recommend this to anyone coming in from out of town. They are a hidden gem!!

Excellent experience. We arrived early for our reservation but they were able to seat us immediately. We had appetizers of the Peconic Gold Oysters, French Onion Soup, and Bread Service, all of which were delicious. Our main entrees were A Really Good Burger which lived up to its name, the Pulled Pork Slider which was lovely with a peach bbq sauce, and the Mac and Cheese which was unfortunately dry and bland. What earns the 5-stars is that our waiter noticed I didn't enjoy the Mac and Cheese, and he me a free dessert that I was not expecting at all. As my first time here I felt valued as a patron. For the dessert I picked the Caramel Cheesecake, which was the perfect topper for the evening.

5 stars for being open. I visited Greenport on Labor Day for 2 nights and every other establishment in the town was closed, really lame. But First and South was open and even had live music by a singing guitarist! The food and the service was great! Bonus points for having a NA Beer! The kale salad was good enough without the protein, and the dessert selection was yummy. We had the banana bread and homemade ice cream with sprinkles. Good food. Good service.

The definitive neighborhood spot. Always welcoming. Full of traditions like the summertime pig roasts on Mondays, winter's Prohibition Party, and great burgers every day. Excellent beer and wine lists. Sit at the bar, outside or in the dining room- each with its own vibe. Often has great live music in an intimate setting.

The Best Sunday Brunch in Greenport Village!!!

Lunch review: Been enjoying their dishes since they opened... had incredible Pad Thai and a Tuna Burger that tops them all.

We had a really delightful lunch today. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, perfect Bloody Mary and outstanding chowder!! 10 star!

The food was out of this world. I had the chicken dish with mushrooms and oh my god. The staff was super accommodating and welcoming. This may honestly be my new favorite. Every dish was so so so good. Live music was wonderful, manager was super friendly. Love first and south so much.

Just a nice, kind of homey place with great atmosphere, excellent food, and wonderful service. One block off main, yet still in the heart of Greenport. I will definitely return.

Has many good Veggie/Vegan options.

Very nice place. Great oysters. "Really Good Burger" was really good! Nice mural with the local map. We had a very good time.

Pre-COVID review:
Bottom line: delicious food and friendly ambiance.
Gluten line: very accommodating and knowledgeable.
Long line: while the wait was a bit long, we loved our time here. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I don't recall exactly what we ate but we loved everything. Would return.

Loved my meal at First and South. Wicked selection of craft beers, including some paired to meals. Service was second to none. Food was delicious

Can’t go wrong here, consistently good. Both the food and the service top notch

The food being absolutely outstanding. My son had the really good burger, which was better than really good. I had chicken mac & cheese, which also was quite delicious as was the truffle and mushroom mac & cheese. However I must say what put this restaurant over the top for us is the service. Which was top-notch. My wife ordered the grilled salmon salad, which unfortunately had a slight allergen issue, not the fault of the restaurant. The staff immediately took the dish to correct the issue, and to ensure that my wife had something to eat while we all ate they brought her a bowl of seafood chowder while she waited for her salmon salad. This gesture showed that the restaurant truly cares about their customers and wants to make sure that they have a good experience. We found this restaurant by chance after a eight hour car ride from Maine and a 1 1/2 hour ferry trip across to Long Island. I can say it was our first time, but certainly not our last time to go to this wonderful restaurant.
