I'm the type that usually just pays at the pump and goes about my business. But I try make a point to walk into Sam's little convenience store every chance I get, even if I already paid at the pump. Sam is a hard working businessman and father and I love talking to him. Since I bleed scarlet and gray, I'm not fond of his blue and yellow storefront, but this guy is a genuine asset in our neighborhood, and I'm guessing that the choice of exterior color has nothing to do with collegiate alliances (In fact I know that he has Buckeyes in his family tree)... Next time I drop in, I'm going to ask him about that color scheme... I bet it will be the start of a great conversation over a delicious cup of gas-station coffee ;)

I wish more of my GV neighbors would drive NE to fill up at Sam's. The same people that loved Isaly's, the Claremont Steakhouse, and still love the Christmas tree lighting at Frank Fetch Park, will find a special friend here on Beck Street. They'd find an honest business man who is living the American promise without bootleg DVD's on the counter "that's so Parson's Avenue!", without 40oz beers in the cooler, and without the Parson's Ave drama. Having lived in GV for almost 18 years, Sam has become as much a part of my perception of GV as Pat, Tommy, and other legendary contributors to our little brick paved slice of Columbus. Drop by and say Hi, you might make a new friend...

A regular gas station. Using a non-US credit card though is problematic. Works only at the counter
