Downbound Books

This is definitely one of my favorite bookstores in the city. It's smaller than most but it's so well curated. This ends up being a better experience, less time browsing endless shelves and instead immediately finding so many good books. The staff is super helpful and friendly as well. I asked the guy working there if he had any recommendations of a more specific genre and he immediately was able to pick out a whole stack of options for me. I can highly recommend this place, and I can't wait to go back whenever I finish getting through my current stack of reading!

Very cute little book shop! Not a huge selection but the books there are cool and the kids area is nice. The proprieter was very kind and happy to give recommendations! He seemed very knowledgeable about everything I asked him.

I finally got to take my young boys to use their gift cards at this phenomenal neighborhood bookstore since they've opened back up for in-person browsing. My oldest (10) was really taking his time going through their small, but very carefully curated children's section. Sarah, who is amazing (!!), came over and asked him a few questions about his recent reads and favorites, and then appeared with an armful of additional books for him to peruse. So thoughtful and knowledgeable. Love it!! He chose three of her recommendations and is currently enjoying them. Highly recommend!

The best curated local bookstore I've seen in years. This quiet shop packs a punch with fantastic publishers and thoughtful balance of award-winners and lesser known authors. It's rare for us to see so many of our favorites and books recommended to us all in one bookstore.

Don't let the small footprint fool you - the selection here is wide-ranging and thoughtful. I've been delighted with the books recommended to me by the staff, and the inventory on the website seems to be very accurate. Street parking is easy to find, and the shop is wheelchair accessible. I'm making this my first stop when book shopping from now on!

I regularly purchase my books from Downbound. It’s a relatively small shop which makes it easy to browse. You can also order books online for instore pick up which is a great way to support a local bookshop rather than the big chains. They will special order books for you and text you when your order is ready to be picked up. They also have a frequent buyers program where you receive money off of a future order. My favorite place in the city of Cincinnati while I lived there. Wonderful selection of carefully curated books, which made it easy to spend hours here just perusing. A great escape for any book lovers and the staff were always friendly and helpful when asked for recommendations. Could not recommend them more.

I am so glad to have found this book store. After seeing the selection of political, sociological, and race/gender-study titles, it sparked a new passion and got me reading for fun again. Gregory is extremely welcoming when you come in and makes an effort to get to know his customers. I came back about two weeks after my first visit and Gregory remembered me and showed me new books that he thought I would be interested in. I would be willing to pay higher prices for this type of customer service but it really is no more expensive than chain bookstores.

Happy to have an amazing local bookstore to support. They have a broad selection on hand, and I've requested special orders online that arrive promptly. This place is a gem! ❤ Get a book and grab a coffee at Collective Espresso or Sidewinders nearby!

I have been twice. Both times I bought books. I was so happy with the selection of kids' books. They are thoughtfully selected. I also found books for myself. I even suggested that my husband go there for holiday shopping. I am going back this weekend.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to visit in person, but I've ordered twice online and I'm so pleased that we have such a great local independent bookstore now! I preordered a book recently and it ended up coming a few days late, which isn't something that bothers me, but they were so prompt about emailing me and letting me know they were waiting on the shipment that I never had to worry about it being a lost package. Truly such amazing customer service, I had to write a review and gush a bit. Please order your books (and puzzles!) from here so I can visit in person one day!
