I was shocked at the lack of professionalism by this firm. First off, there was no formality or contract signed. I have worked with several accountants and never not had an engagement letter signed by both parties detailing the work to be completed, rates, confidentiality, etc. Second on the topic of confidentiality, I found out that the firm had been communicating with parties outside of the the firm--sending my personal information back and forth without my consent. I deal in a line of work that require strict confidentiality and compliance and would never dream of sending that type of information over unsecure communication and without consent of all parties involved. I also tried to provide documents regarding certain tax items, and not only was I told the wrong information, I was not able to provided the documents before the tax forms were filed due to lack of responsivness. I was shocked at the unprofessional way the whole situation was handled. I received a recommendation for this firm from my financial advisor. I have informed them of the situation of how things were handled and due to my line of work have also informed other financial professionals to not work with this firm. I had to hire another CPA firm to file an amended tax return and clean up the absolute mess that was made of my return. I also will be filing a report with the state due to the fact that I am dealing with an IRS fine.
