So wonderful and understanding. As a new mom who doesn't always know what to do these people are patient and not judgmental and very understanding if I am for example changing an appointment last minute because I'm not sure whether or not to bring my baby in for a cold! Also! It was like a miracle watching them give my baby his shots. He never even cried as opposed to the last hospital we were with where I felt like the nurse was stabbing his legs zero empathy.. I know it's just a little shots but the fact that Island family medicine was playing and singing with him to make it better meant a lot.

Please don’t waste your time with this clinic. The front staff is rude as others have expressed but most importantly, there have been so many times where they delayed cared. It seems that the Dr wants an appointment for every single request even though the issues were covered in previous appointments. For example, they have all my medications on file and know the doses I take. I requested a refill for a non habit forming medication to help with my mental health diagnosis and I was told I had to make an appointment even though We had discussed all my medications and how long have been on them etc. Not once did they say that for each medication refill I would need to be seen by the Dr. Also, I suffer from chronic sciatic pain and have seen the Dr numerous times for this issue where she mentioned it was” most likely “ I will need a steroid injection to help with pain management as I refuse to take narcotics. I requested this referral and they again said I needed to come back into the office for an appointment. My appointments have been moved and canceled several times at the very last minute. I have never experienced this lack of communication nor the healthcare delays that occurred because of their poor management. I am overall very healthy so don’t need much medical attention so I can’t imagine what it would be for those who have higher medical needs!!!! Finally, I am a registered nurse who has worked in primary care and I can guarantee that you don’t need an appointment for every medication on file that was already discussed with your PCP. Please don’t visit this office!

Some of the reviews below mention the disorganization and difficulties with the front office staff, those are all accurate but also things I can typically look past. Unfortunately, Dr. Petrovich is also an issue. Her website promotes pediatrics and the care of children, but to be clear she will only care for children who are healthy and don't have so much as a runny nose. As parents we know that our children get sick, its a fact of life, but Dr. Petrovich will only see your sick child via telemedicine. This morning I called and expressed concerns over my four year old's breathing, and with it being cold/flu/RSV season I specifically requested for her to listen to his lungs (even if it was outside on the porch or in our car, since I know the office policy). The office let me know they would not see him in person and they would only see him via telemedicine. While telemedicine is a wonderful tool for many aspects of medical care, a doctor cannot listen to a person's lungs or look at their ears from an iPad. When they would not see him in person today, we took our four year old to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Our very young child had pneumonia and she wouldn't see him to listen to his lungs, despite my concerns over his breathing. After we came home from the ER I called and asked for all records to be printed and left the practice immediately.

To be clear, Dr. Laura Petrovich does care for adults and children alike, but only if they're healthy. If you have a sick child you cannot count on her to care for that little love of your life.

The front office is disorganized and scheduling an appointment is like planning a trip to the moon. I took my kids to balboa instead.
