If you've never been here, WHAT are you waiting for?!? If you like meat or plants, this is your place! Like pie? This is really your place! All of the food was great and the pie did not disappoint, EXCEPT for the fact that if you are going to have pie, order it right away! I missed out on a couple choices. Now I know. Order pie first, then get the food. They package it up very nicely for you. Eat it there or take it with you. The Lake is close - a beautiful view to see while eating your pie. If you make it that far before you open the bag! The service was great and the workers were also! If you are in the area - or not - stop in and enjoy!

Honestly one of greatest breakfasts I’ve had in years. The fact that I had a wicked hangover made it even more special. Pork belly and grits plus a side of hash browns and two extra eggs. I’m pretty sure if it was put in a blender and introduced intravenously it would have had the same glorious effect.

I had the Big Boss Hamburger with french fries, and I thought it was really good. The service was good, and it was quick. I sat at the counter, and I am a huge lunch counter fan - so I was already in a good mood once I saw they had counter service. The Big Boss is like a Big Mac or a Big Boy - I was happy with the hamburger (since I will admit I do like McDonald's Big Macs). The bar on the other side of the restaurant (opposite wall of the counter service) is beautiful.

After years of hearing great things about Comet Cafe, I finally had the opportunity to eat brunch there. The restaurant was very busy and now I know why. The staff was very friendly and the food was really good. I went all out and ordered the biscuits and gravy which I almost never order and I was in for a wonderful treat as they were delicious. The portion was large, half of it went home with me. The biscuits were perfect. And, since I had already splurged with calories I ordered Door County Cherry pie which was amazing. I really enjoy all the restaurants in this group of restaurants. All of them are outstanding.

Comet is my go-to hangover cure. Their breakfast is awesome and, while it’s not exactly relevant to me, they do a great job catering to gluten friendly (not gluten-free!) and vegan diets. Last week was my first time trying something that wasn’t breakfast (and not hungover lol) and it was equally as good. Sometimes you just need a simple burger and this did the trick for me.

The service here is always really friendly. It’s casual and they talk to you like they’re a friend. I’ve never had bad service here. The atmosphere is cool too—a classic diner feel with a fresh modern look.

Don’t miss out on their pies either! A good variety of flavors on rotation and they’re good quality. Comet is a great neighborhood spot for brunch or dinner.

This cafe is one of my favorite places to eat in MKE. I’ve been here so many times and have tried multiple dishes. Everything from breakfast, pie, sandwiches, drinks and more are all great. The coffee is arguably the BEST…even when compared to some of the nicest coffee shops around, and only for a fraction of the cost. They rarely disappoint. The servers are also just down-to-earth, trendy, and genuine. This is a great place for a leisurely meal and highly recommend to anyone in MKE.

Comet Cafe is a great place to eat. My friends & I came for breakfast.

I had the eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns. All of the food was hot & fresh.

The staff are very friendly and professional. They play great background music as well.

Definitely recommend!

Picked up take out. The Meatloaf dinner, the Compact turkey dinner and a slice of Mud pie. The Meatloaf was the best and still made the same way as many years ago. I say the Meatloaf is the recommended entree if you never tried CC. The Turkey entree could have used a bit more turkey in it but was still a favorite. The Mud pie was omg outta this world. A100 CC!!! <3

Comet Cafe has such a cool vibe & atmosphere! The staff were very friendly & provided great service. Lots of food & alcoholic drink options, including vegetarian/vegan & nonalcoholic options. Prices were reasonable. Milwaukee is lucky to have Comet Cafe!

We went on a Friday night around 6 pm and it wasn’t very busy. We ordered two sandwiches for dinner and it was delicious!

Super cute place with an old fashioned diner feel! We had cherry pie, packed with tons of fruit and topped with crunchy streusel. Waitstaff was very attentive, but not disruptive.

Everything about this restaurant is phenomenal.
It has a whole in the wall feel but is busy anytime it’s open
Comfortable seating and very pleasant staff. The apps come out fast and can’t miss with any of them. The spinach artichoke dip is incredible. I had the roast beef which had great flavor, texture, and great portion size. Fries are perfectly cooked.

Everything on the menu is phenomenal. Warning: it can be a wait during peak brunch hours

Great place for breakfast for families with both vegans and omnivores. Music is a little too loud. Very nice people. Had extra hashbrowns and they reheated really nicely the next day.

Always a favorite stop in Milwaukee. Love the incredible selection of food that can be catered to almost any diet. As a recovering alcoholic, they have an impressive mock tail drink menu as well as a selection of NA beers. Love an all inclusive spot in regard to food and drink!

This place is a neighborhood staple, after being closed during COVID, its great that they kept everything the same even under new ownership (she was part owner in the past though:)).

They reduced the menu somewhat but kept everything I always ordered so not 100% what was removed. Plus pies, pies, pies, they kept these beauties as a staple and highly recommend ordering a piece of pie with your meal because they DEF sell out!!! Newest pie I tried recently was the apple cranberry and highly recommend, was more of a crumple style and absolutely delish!

Order these anytime and you will not be disappointed:
Avocado toast, meatloaf, grilled cheese & tomato soup, salads (all homemade dressing, yum), fresh cut fries, bacon.

Drinks - great for brunch & cocktails, nice draft/beer list and decent wine list.

The food is top notch diner food, and so is the service. I like to think of the food as gourmet diner. The prices though not cheap will not break the bank. The portion size is generous. I have had the breakfast burrito (tex-mex style) here which is big enough to share between two. I have also had the home made biscuits with gravy. The biscuits are good, a tad thick, the gravy is so good that I was left wanting more of it given the biscuits are a bit too big to get soggy enough with the gravy. The gravy also has satisfying chunks of actual sausage which pleases the carnivore within me. The hash browns are amazing, crispy and well seasoned. They don't need any hot sauce or ketchup. If anything they could be a little less oily. Coffee is refilled and topped up as you continue to eat and/or chat with the company you have.

One of our friends has 3 different food allergies and this place was open enough to accommodate all the dietary restrictions.

In summary, I highly recommend going here. I know I will be back.

Update: With the recent reopening, returnees will find it cleaner, the hostess and servers friendlier and quicker and the food quality is back plus! My turkey balls were outstanding and came with a substantial side of green beans (sad for that, I hate green beans so they went untouched). I will definitely be a regular with the cold months coming!

First let me say, the service is excellent. My server was was pleasant and attentive. I ordered my usual, the compact turkey dinner, or as I like to call it "turkey balls". This time it was very disappointing. The whole thing had an overpowering taste of "smoked", something I've not noticed in the past. And it seemed overwhelmingly stuffed with grainy potatoes. I'm not going to rage and swear to never return but the food has to be good because if it isn't, you're just grabbing a mediocre lunch at a dive bar...which gives it character if the food stands up. Otherwise....not so much.

Delicious food and Aloy was a great server! If you go in the winter get the Kringle Krush it was bomb.
