We just stopped by to check it out and the first thing I noticed was how clean and tidy it was. The staff was very helpful and easy to talk with. We didn't look at the cabins but I'm pretty sure they're fine.
They rent snowmobiles.

This was the perfect respite for my cooped up kids. Lots of space and it backs up to the black hills forest so we were able to see some deer. Everyone in the main building (where check in and the restaurant is) was very friendly and helpful and the young son even asked if my 11 year old wanted to play basketball after her ate so that was a HUGE bonus after 7 hours on the road (YES! GO OUTSIDE! DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN POKE YOUR SISTER!)
We really enjoyed our stay there and I think we were the only ones in the cabins so it was QUIET.

Amazing base for snowmobile riding. The owners couldn't have been nicer to me making sure I was well cared for. I felt they took care of me more than the several hundred other visitors who were not staying with them. Everything was clean and professional. This location is central to the riding trails so I was never that far from fuel & food. A plus was I felt the truck/trailer parking was very secure and I was able to park my sled out of the way 1 step from the cabin. They do have wifi at the restaurant so you are able to check in with work/family quite easily. Thank you for a great first time experience.

The cabin we stayed in was spotless, warm and the views were amazing. The staff at this property are all great! They all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. They are personable and fun. They have amazing food right there at the lodge, so we stayed there and ate.

We were able to enjoy the beautiful snow that had fallen the day before on the trails. Access to trails is right there from the property as well as having a lot to park your trailers and trucks. The staff at the lodge is very helpful with trail information as well.

I will return again in winter or summer to enjoy the impeccably kept cabins as well as the staff.

My wife and I spent some of our honeymoon money this weekend and had a great time this at Trailshead Lodge! Sunday we rented a double snowmobile and went out trailriding and had a blast! Sunday night we ate at their restaurant and our food was delicious! We stayed the night in the studio which was surprisingly spacious and pretty comfortable! This morning our breakfast was very delicious also! It was well worth the drive and money spent! The owners and staff were very polite and great to talk to, we enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon!

This is my first Google review- I usually don’t take the time. I recently stayed at Trailshead Lodge with a small group for 4 nights and rented snowmobiles for 3 days. We chose Trailshead because of the location in the center of all the trails, and it is definitely the best location for renting if you want quick access to all the different trails. I can’t say enough good things about our experience. Everything was very clean and well kept, great food and menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the sleds were new and ran great! It was impressive that the owners were on-site running the business, and they truly cared about their customers which is rare to find these days. The hospitality we were shown during our stay was amazing! Trailshead Lodge will definitely be in my plans on future trips to the Black Hills!
Thanks Todd and Julie!!

Best trip ever! Our group of 19 just rented Snow mobiles from these guys. It was the highlight of our stay in Deadwood. If you are in the area for the snow season, Do Not pass them up! We will be back to do this again!!! Absolute best.

We stayed here towards the end of August for our anniversary. The location was perfect since we wanted to take our UTV out on trails. There was 2 gravel roads to head to unlimited amount of trials right next to lodge. Can ether hit the Northern part of the black hills or the Southern. The 3 days we were there, we drive about 200 miles worth of trails. It was really convenient that they had gas on side and the price was reasonable compared to other places in the area. The food was good and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They sell a laminated map of the trails for $20 which was well worth it in my opinion. It showed suggested trails and landmarks. It was nice to cross reference it with my Avenza app to make sure we never got lost. The lodge we stayed in was nice. It was cozy. The only thing we weren't a fan of was the bed. It was firm but after a long day of riding, it didn't really matter. We'll definitely be staying there again in the future.

We called same week and they had one 6 seater available. They were very upfront about costs and requirements. There were some negative reviews about their damage fees but after riding the trails and knowing their rules to keep the machines in tip top shape I dont think they are unreasonable at all. We did not incur any on our trip as we were cautious and courteous of the terrain and machine. I can see how if your reckless or non observant or careless it would be easy to find yourself in a pickle..but I also assume people who enjoy the more rugged experience are equipped to make those calculations when out on trails with respect to the machines ability. The owners were very nice and provided a great trail map marked very clearly. We also had 3 kids with us and the machine was very comfortable for a family of 5 our gear and the dog. It was a great experience!! They even allowed us to dry camp in their lot the night before ! We will most definitely be back

This was a great, the greatest, part of our trip to the Black Hills. We rented sleds for the family for the day, and it was a blast. The sleds were in new condition, the trails were full of snow, and Todd and Julie were great hosts. They were far more accommodating for my family's needs than any other snowmobile rental company in the area. This is likely to become a regular part of our trips to the Black Hills!

Thanks Todd and Julie!

Delicious breakfast, very reasonable ATV rental rates, exceptional customer service.

We (me) left our car keys at our campsite in Spearfish Canyon, and the very nice young man that works there offered to drive us to get them and bring us back. Though I repeatedly offered to fill up his gas tank as a thank you, he refused. We are very thankful for his kind gesture and will be back for snow mobile rentals and more breakfast.

Go check this awesome place out!

Todd and Julie rented us Cajuns, 4 sleds for the day. They explained everything, especially the trails and maps which were the best we have ever seen. Also, very blessed that the weather and conditions were perfect. It all started with professional host and good machines to create a great experience. Thanks again from the 4 Cajuns from South Louisiana. Might well come back next year.

We love Trailshead, especially the burgers and beer. Julie and Todd know the area well and are glad to share that knowledge. We have our own side by side, but before we got a snowmobile we rented one to see if we would enjoy it. We did! Highly recommended. Thanks, TH.

Really fun! We had fun snowmobiling here with the family, it was a great day for it. We didn't know what to bring so we brought hats and hand warmers along, but it turns out the snowmobiles you rent have hand warmers on them and they have warm helmets so you don't need to bring that stuff. There is a kitchen there they serve soup and burgers, and a bar, plus theres a pool table. We had never been snowmobiling, but it was a great first experience.

Dont know about the lodge or restaurant, but rented side by sides and did trail riding g for a few hours. Staff was great, treated us professionally, grounds and bldg super clean and tidy, explained all we needed to know about the rigs and the trails, and allowed these novices to have a great and safe time. We took a wrong turn (didnt listen close enough to what she told us) and got a little muddy, were embarrassed to take them back so dirty, but they took it in stride. Fun time with friends, recommend Trailshead to anyone and nearly $100 less than other local rental outlets!

Stopped for lunch while out snowmobiling. It was our first visit. Friendly staff. Restaurant was nice and clean. Food was reasonably priced and very good! Shelves inside for helmets was nice.

We did not stay here, but visited the bar and purchased gas for the sleds. The staff was overly friendly, and they all were happy to see us. We went when the snowmobiling was not the greatest, but they all had smiles on their face none the less. Busy place, but looks like it would be amazing to stay at! We actually made reservations for next year already!

Great experience renting a UTV for a trail ride. Todd and Julie were very accommodating, they weren’t concerned about holding us to our reservation when bad weather moved in and made sure we could go out the next day. They have access to more trails then you can get to in a day, their rates are reasonable as well.

Twenty plus members of our snowmobile club stayed here this past snowmobile season. We rented 5 cabins and found them to be fantastic. Food at the lodge was great. Several members rented sleds and had no problems. the trail riding was awesome! A ride thru Spearfish Canyon should be on every Snowmobilers bucket list. The lodge's central location in the Black Hills works out perfect. Owners were sooo nice. If your going snowmobiling in the Black Hills this is the place to stay.
