Howards Drive In

If you wait all year for carnival/fair season to get hand cut fries, you can get them without the rides or farm animals. These fries were out of this world. Crunchy, tender, hot, salty. The union rings were real onions, breaded, and fried. Also delicious. For real, go for the fries.

I ordered a smash burger and clam chowder and they were both delicious! Wont order clam chowder from anywhere else because it doesn’t measure up to Howard’s chowdah!! Never disappointed coming here 🫶🏻👍👍

Delicious food, people were very nice and understanding when we came last second before closing. Sorry about that! Won't happen again! But we WILL be back at better times lol

The food is what you'd expect from an ice cream place like this. Nothing is over the top delicious or terrible, Mediocre food. Same could he said about the ice cream. The staff is super friendly though and it's in a nice location

Howard's is a great drive-in style establishment that focuses on ice cream, seafood, chicken, burgers and fries. The portions for the ice cream are big, I got a medium and it was like a large. The ice cream was really good, I had the pistachio. My friends had some seafood and they said it was good too. Prices are reasonable and it is located right on Rt. 9 just east of the town center. Highly recommended.

Whole clams were great, fries not so good, but the onion rings are very good. Soft serve was very good also, worth the trip.

This is by far the best fish and chips and ice cream in central mass

Decided to try Howards Drive In. I was looking for some whole belly clams and ice cream. They had so many offerings to choose from. I was more than pleased to be able to try the haddock and whole belly clams together. They allow you to choose any 2 choices in one meal. They also have a fisherman's platter with more included if more desired. I chose the onion rings instead of the fries, and they were perfectly fried and delicious. My daughter had the scallops with fries. The weather was warm and sunny, so we ate outside on their lovely grounds. They have ample seating outside. The parking lot was full, but they were very quick with our order. I was happy to see my favorite flavor of ice cream offered, the graham central ! I was too full to have the ice cream, but taking some home fixes that. I will definitely be returning to Howard's Drive In, no doubt about it. I am so glad to have found a spot with delicious seafood and ice cream, and their prices are too good to be true. It is no wonder why they have been in business so long.

Great place for quality food. Love the whole belly class, bang bang shrimp and of course the ice cream. One of the few places that still have actual soft serve. Picnic tables outside to eat at. Great spot.

Howards has been around for a long time. That alone tells you they know what they are doing. Still not sold? Well go check out the 50’s vibe and enjoy some fried seafood, burgers, and a host if yummy foods. I highly recommend their milkshakes, but they also have ice cream sodas, and malts. The outside got a nice little makeover this season too! More 50’s feel with signage, old records, era music, and space in the back for kids to play some games. Parking can be tight at the busiest times but if you sneak around back chances are you’ll sneak into a spot. Prices are about what you would expect, though I feel with portion sizes you are getting a deal. Pro tip: order off the kids menu which comes with a decent amount of food with a cheaper cost. My go to is the kids clam strips and a shake! Teens at the counter are all friendly and do a great job. Tip them a little something!! Great place to see some cool old cars if your lucky. Ice cream is fantastic too! A small is like other places medium/large fyi. Definitely go this summer!!

Randomly stumbled upon this place looking for a bathroom. Stayed because of how inviting and busy it was. Did not disappoint!

I've been going to this place for 20 years. Good food for great prices & the ice cream portions are a lot bigger than what you'd expect for the price.

I have dined at Howard’s three times since the new ownership. I can tell you they still have their signature fries. Their seafood is what I can speak to you right now and it is top-notch and not far from what it was before but a upgrade I noticed on the scallops. I’ve had the grilled shrimp and haddock and it is perfect. You will not get a greasy feel in your mouth from eating the fried food here. If you liked Howard’s drive-in before new ownership ,you should definitely like it now!

Howard's is a great old school eat out place. I had the fish burger fries and a shake. The fish was a decent size portion hanging out both sides of the bun. It was delicious. I miss their home cut fries but that's out of their control. Shake was delicious too. 👍🏼👍🏼

Service was quick and excellent as always — my favorite seasonal drive in — first visit of 2023

Tried it for lunch on the second day of the season with new management, which is often NOT the best time for a good experience. My food was delicious, the fries were fantastic, they were definitely understaffed but they made it work. For everyone complaining about prices, I have to wonder if you’ve been to a grocery store lately.

Great food at a great price. Can get busy but it moves very fast. The Net Buster is a gut buster

Place may be under new management and new ownership but please be patient and kind to the employees doing their best. It’s not easy when it’s your first day at work and having your first job and it can get very overwhelming for them at times. The employees do their best to make good food and provide excellent service. Of course a new food place will be packed when it opens up and everyone has to come and try it out but doesn’t mean mistreat the employees.

Ordered a fish sandwich and it could have fed three people! It was very reasonably priced especially with how everything is so expensive these days! It was massive & delicious! Crispy and alot of fish. Love javing some for tomorrow. Quick service and great old fashion music for the drive in experience. We love The Clam Box & Howard's. You can tell the owners put their heart & all in their business!
