Edelweiss German Restaurant

Stopped here on a whim and couldn’t be more pleased! The restaurant is adorable and easily accessible from the highway - the people are super nice and welcoming - and the food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place for anyone who loves German food or anyone just looking for an enjoyable experience!

Edelweiss is a perfect place to relax in its cozy and inviting environment after an incredibly long road trip. The jägerschnitzel was nice and crispy, and the mushroom and onion sauce went wonderfully with it. The sauerbraten was so tender and flavorful, and the sauce that goes with it... it is to die for. I hope to revisit this place again!

Probably the best German restaurant in the immediate area. Lots of traditional German specialties in a nice kitchy German setting. Beer wine some crafts sodas, full range of appetizers traditional German specialties and desserts. The sampler platter is a great chance to try everything. Side dishes served homestyle so you can taste a bit of it all. Just a great dining

Always love stopping at Edelweiss on the way home from a trip. The food and service are excellent and during our last stop a two man band played German "Kammermusik." The atmosphere is always fantastic.

A very pleasant surprise while traveling up I81! We were not in a hurry, but really appreciated the quick service. My husband and I love German food, and this the best we've had. Lots of flavor which made it so enjoyable. We had Saurabrautin and Sausages. Atmosphere and live music made it cozy and welcoming. Hopefully we'll have a chance to go there again!

Excellent German restaurant with a wide variety of authentic German food and a good beer selection. Nice decor and giod service. Highly recommend a stop.

Wanted to treat me 11 year old with another fun experience and found this authentic German restaurant. We shared this dish, it was the goulash. There was enough for both of us to be filled plus some. He wanted to rate the restaurant 10/10 because the service was quick and friendly. We were there about 45 minutes total on our way home. Also this location if easily accessible to the ramps, easy on easy off.

We have been here 3 times because it came so highly recommended. So far, we have walked (from the corner truck stop) in snow once and rain twice. Tonight we are stopping again and, of course, there is rain in the forecast. Folks, IT'S JUST THAT GOOD!

The food here reminded me of the quality and freshness you get in Europe. Everything tasted like and probably was made from scratch. The atmosphere was superb!

This is a diamond in the rough. Super good German food. If you are in the area, lunch or dinner is a good call. I had a late night meal, stuffed cabbage. I got their at 8:45 pm and was greated and served a wonderful meal. Lots of good choices and great beer on tap. I highly recommend a stop if you are traveling along interstate 81 in Staunton, VA.

I just stopped on March 31st., 2024, I had sauerbraten, home run. I highly recommend a visit.

Fantastic authentic German food. I highly recommend the strawberry rhubarb crumble for dessert if you managed to save room for some.

I always wanted to visit Edelweiss after seeing the signs on 81 so often. Finally had the chance and it was fantastic. The atmosphere, service and food was enjoyable. Everything was served family style so we were able to try a bit of everything. My favorite was the Wiener Schnitzel. All of the sides were very good. Will definitely visit again!

I died and went to heaven. The food is amazing and plentiful. I ordered the cabbage rolls and potato pancakes which were out of this world good. I highly recommend this restaurant and label it as authentic German cuisine and atmosphere; you feel as you visited Germany. “Outrageously perfect”

What a wonderful gem. We came in here not expecting much but it had been a long drive and traffic on 81 was backed up as usual, and we needed some good food. We were greeted by a well appointed restaurant, clean and with nice Christmas decorations. German Christmas music was playing that we thought was just recorded, until we turned a corner and found a live accordion player. The food was very good, a top notch meal that did not leave us hungry, and a stein on German beer to boot! Service was also excellent; prompt and friendly.

Fantastic German authentic food surrounded by great Bavarian atmosphere. Sampler entre is a most if you want to enjoy the best of Bavaria in one sitting. You will not go away hungry, and it is always worth a 20 or 30 minute wait for a table. Inside and outside dining are both a wonderful experience.

Unbelievably amazing dining experience. We had the sampler (Amazing) and stuffed cabbage (not your mama’s) and the ultimate feast: the whole ham hock (only on special or can order days in advance). Served family style with all the braised and red cabbage and spaetzle (think noodle) and delicious, melt in your mouth rolls.

The service is on par with any $$$$$ restaurant at a $$ price. The beer…come on! It’s Germany! Such a great selection.

Fun little restaurant off I-81.
Rustic inside with large timber walls. We tried the sampler to get a taste of German food. It was great with 4 different sides and 5 different main course dishes. Portions were a good size for 2 people.

Food just like Oma's! Staff is wonderful. This is my favorite other than IN Germany. It takes 1.5hours to get there for me but worth it. Go! The fried fish is perfect. And the beer is perfectly paired. NOT American. Just right.

I'm in Madison Heights but, I make the drive to eat here. The food is amazing, the selection incredible, I recommend the sampler if it's your first time. It's a lot to eat especially with the 4 sides you get. Wash it down with a good German draft beer. If you still have space at the end their is incredible homemade desserts. If there is no room get the dressert to go. I promise you will not be disappointed going here!!
