Chickamauga Coke Ovens

This little park is a cool part of Chickamauga History. It is well kept and very clean. There is also. a nice walking trail behind the ovens.

I hadn't been here since a field trip I went on early in elementary school, but for my husband it was his very first visit. Still standing and appears to be in good shape considering how old it is. Unfortunately in some of the ovens, disrespectful visitors chose to leave their garbage in there. Quiet and peaceful there, just what we needed.

This was a good history trip that I just so happened ran across. I never knew this was here and have lived here all my life. Even have family that lives in that area that never talked about it. Growing up we use to pass by this place and I never knew.

A very interesting display about the coke ovens, which I knew nothing about. Fascinating how it all took place way before the industrial revolution.

It was nice to see what "16 tons" referenced in real life. An actual piece of history. Beautifully kept and well maintained.

Good place for kids to run and play.and learn some history

I found them by accident. Had never heard of them until I moved to the area. There are some historic markers there which will tell you about their significance during the civil war. They're a few miles from the battlefield. A cool. obscure piece of southern history.

It's just really super interesting!! See what our ancestors done! I have been in alot on Sand Mtn that hasn't been touched or messed with just somewhat protected & watched over by us the ppl that grew up lived around them !! There really awesome cool very hard to get to but definitely worth the effort. But to see etchings on the walls relics of time passed !! So much history been destroyed in building yes alot has been saved or preserved but so much lost that was just swept under the rug

It was very interesting, I never knew the coal mines was here. Much less up Lookout mountain and all the way to Alabama. The plaques on the monuments took you back in time.

Nice quiet place. Historic place with a small water feature. Learned something new.Stop by on the way to battlefields.

A quiet place of history in Chickamauga and it is at the end of a wonderful family friendly paved walking trail along Coke Oven Branch.

Very nice park as well as historical site.
