A great place to visit to learn about history, biking, hiking. The visitor center has maps, weapon museum, gift shop, clean bathrooms. Beautiful monuments. There are audio guides available. There are park rangers that provide guided tours. The park is dog friendly. Come visit and learn about our beautiful national parks.

This is by far my favorite park. This park tour, you use your car and an app on your phone to have an interactive tour of the whole entire battle site. There is multiple hiking trails, biking trails, and horse trails, and itwill take you days and multiple trips to see everything.

Chickamauga Battlefield in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia is a interesting place. I learned, read and saw things I really didn't want to read, know or see. It's a captivating historic site, beautiful manicured grounds, beautiful area and definitely worth a visit. History buffs will love it. Statues, monuments and markers are sprawled along the well kept battlefields. Lots of folks 🚴‍♀, 🥾around the area. Park was pretty busy -- went on a weekday. Great staff...professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Spent about an hour there, but didn't see everything. Wear comfy shoes👟

Great place to visit if you love history. Lots of interesting things to see. You can drive through the tour and get out and look at statues and read the stones. They also have trails to walk or ride bicycles if you want. So much to see it will take more than one day to tour. It's all free but any donations are appreciated. Very friendly staff too. We really enjoyed it. And can't wait to visit again.

Wonderful tour given by Ranger Jeremy Carroll. His passion for the history of this area was evident as he told us about the battles. Beautifully kept grounds

Loved this place. Did the auto tour and learned so much. Very surreal standing where significant history took place.

I love coming here. Always have. So many quiet, peaceful areas. Lots of wildlife. Great picnic areas. So much history, there’s not enough room to go into detail. You could spend days exploring all the monuments and markers. Many, many trails, most of them level, to walk or ride a bike through. There’s also a parking area for horse trailers so you can bring them as well. Beautifully kept grounds. Everything is perfectly maintained. Very close to a lot of restaurants and stores so you can bring a fresh lunch or dinner. Great for large gatherings outdoors.

Great for hiking! Visitors center bathrooms were clean and has a water bottle filling station located just outside the bathrooms. If your phone is low, there are several outlets inside the visitors center if you've brought your charger outlet plug and cord.

I hiked a little more than 10mi on 3 different trails.

The only bathrooms are at the visitors center- and it closes at 5pm. So if you're going to be there past 5pm make sure you go to the bathroom before they close.

Bring lots of water if you plan on hiking or spending more than an hour there.

Great preserved battlefield with easy to follow tour. Museum was top notch with one of the most excellent long gun collections I’ve ever seen.

Amazing experience to walk the trails and see the terrible losses during the war. We also drove thru the park using the interpretive app to listen to details about each of the main monuments. Well worth your time, especially if you have middle school aged children who would be studying this in school for the first time.

Their visitor center has very helpful maps and info, restrooms, a drinking water fountain and a gift shop. There are hours and hours worth of hiking, biking and horse trails to tour different monuments. You could also drive to some, definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

The 1st National Military Park was authorized by the US Congress in 1890. It was dedicated in 1895. The park encompasses more than 9,000 acres of battlefields, monuments, and forests. It consists of 6 distinct places throughout the Chattanooga area. Chickamauga Battlefield, Lookout Mountain Battlefield, Missionary Ridge, Moccasin Bend, Signal Point, and Orchard Knob.
The Visitors Center has a wonderful short movie that brings all these areas together for you.

We aren't into military things, so can't comment about that part. But we LOVE the miles of trails and old roads to hike. There are so many birds and flowers with all different kinds of terrain - marshland, ridge tops, cedar glades, fields, oak and pine forests. It is a WONDERFUL place to hike and get out in nature.
