Pretty African Hair Braiding

I always go to Tanya to get my hair braided and I've gotten every type of braids, twist, corn rows, locks, ect.. that you can think of. I'm always in love with my braids. Other hairstylist that I've been too always make my braids look unorganized or messy. Sometimes they are so tight but they can't even last 2 weeks. Since I've been going to Tanya my hair is neater and it actually last how long it's supposed to instead of loosening up so fast that the top of my hair looks like my hair is just out. I'm happy to have found a hairstylist that'll last.

I love this hair salon. Tanita is an amazing person. I brought my daughter here to get her hair done and she loved it so much and kept getting complemented on it. The pricing range was great and the braids looked neat and beautiful and they lasted.

I booked an appointment online as she requested for 8am. I called the night before just to confirm again. She tells me she can't do my hair at 8am & to come at 9am. I reluctantly agree. I had used her services once before & although the braiding is tight
it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I booked the exact service I did previously, but this time when I hand her the money & included a tip, she tells me it isn't enough & that prices on everything is going up. This is true, but why not tell a customer you are adding money to a service BEFORE you start or when they book the appointment? Then has the nerve to get an attitude with me & fusses in her language. This is the US speak English in front of your clients . RUDE. I won't be going back.

This place was highly recommended from a friend, so I disregarded some of things that I read about the place. I contacted the owner, Paola, to set an appointment and told her that I wanted to have my hair done by her, and ONLY her since she is who had done my friend’s hair in the past. She assured me that she would be the one doing my hair and I asked if she had a #4 hair color and she said yes so, I was happy that I didn’t need to purchase my own hair at the beauty supply store. When I arrived at the salon for my 9am appointment, no one was there so I texted the owner and she advised me that she would be there shortly, and that was at 9:15am. Myself and another lady were waiting in the parking lot and then 2 ladies with 2 children showed up and I asked one of the ladies if she was Paola and she replied yes. Once I got into the chair at the salon the ladies got the 2 children settled and began doing my hair. I confirmed that they would be using a #4 colored hair and the lady replied yes. The lady that claimed to be Paola started braiding my hair for a few hours and then she switched with the other lady and started doing someone else’s hair. The 2nd lady was very heavy handed and was braiding so tight and I reminded her several times to loosen up. Fast-forward, it took 10 HOURS to finish my hair, I’ve NEVER sat in a chair longer than 5 hours when I lived in Texas and my twist were smaller when I got them done back home. Once my twist were finished the ladies put a ton of mouse in my hair and began to cut the frizzy pieces off, which I am used to, however, they were cutting fast, but I figured they have done this many times before and know what they are doing. By the way, after I paid the lady she said, I AM NOT PAOLA, I AM HER SISTER!! WTH??? She lied to me for 10 hours and even answered when I called her Paola several times while doing my hair!! I just let it go because my hair was done and there was noting that I could do about it and it was late, and I live 45 min from the shop. When I got home I noticed that the hair was a #1, which is black, not a #4, which is brown.
Now I am at 7.5 weeks and took my twist down, and to my surprise a lot of my hair was cut when they were cutting the frizzy hairs off the twist. I noticed that when I took a twist out and stretched out my hair to check growth that one half of my hair from the twist was a few inches shorter. I called THE REAL PAOLA and told her what happened, and she said, “call my sister” and texted me her number and all her sister could say was “sorry it was a mistake.” I am highly upset because my real hair was cut in sever spots and I had to get 3 inches cut off at the salon because my hair was so uneven. I will NEVER get my hair braided by PRETTY HAIR again and I do not recommend anyone else to go there if you want to keep your hair.

Very unprofessional...you never know who knows what languages so it would be wise for you not to talk ill of your customers as you're doing their hair. Very unprofessional would not recommend anyone to waste their time or money at this location. Spend your money on a person/salon that has class and professional services.
