The only experience I had in this court was almost 2 decades ago (20 years in February), but i decided to look for the justice that married me to the man i am still wed to today. We were homeless, I was pregnant, but we were so in love. My mom fronted us the money to get married, and we went to the courthouse to get it scheduled. The clerk went through the process of getting us set up, then went into a side room for a moment, and returned saying that his honor had a few minutes between cases, and could marry us now if we wanted. We agreed- of course!- and were taken to chambers. He sat down and talked with us for a few minutes, and then took us through the ceremony. Once all was said and done, he said he had a wedding present for us and pulled an envelope from his desk and gave it to us. When we got outside, we opened it to find the entire fee we had paid for the wedding! This might seem like a small thing to many, but when you are living not even paycheck to paycheck but on the generosity of others... This was huge. Fast forward to today, we are stable, working, the bun that was in my oven is healthy, happy, and working his first job. Judge Jones, I really hope that someone brings this to your attention, because I want to thank you for setting us on the path that brought us to where we are. I hope that you are well, and you might be hearing from us for a return engagement to officiate at our vow renewal! 🥰

I have made appearances at this court for 12 years and have to say they have the best staff now of all the courts I have dealt with in Dallas and Fort Worth. They have an excellent clerck who has selected capable new staff and trained them to be attentive to the public, pleasant and informative.
As to Judge Jones, he is the best, without par. I have never seen another judge to have the patience he has to listen to, sometimes, cockamamie explanations for this or that or the other. Whereas most plaintiffs have their papers and case prepared, Judge Jones takes the time to ask questions to flesh out a defendant's arguments and help them produce proof in support of their arguments.
Judge Jones should also be commended for organizing very informative and productive annual sessions for plaintiffs and defendants to dialogue with representatives of HUD, housing authorities, Dallas county's constable, and others. I wish he could convince some of his judge colleagus to attend these sessions. I'm not to pleased with his engaging some of the local legal aid minds, who turn the court into an exercise of "gotcha" to favorably resolve their clients' cases through procedural formalities. Most plaintiffs are not represented by attorneys and, may not be familiar with court formalities other than through their own experience.

Judge Thomas G Jones put me up 1, on game (knowledge) and I really, really appreciate that. Although I should've already been aware, (I wasn't) he told me to utilize my state officials. They are here for a reason! N he quick to tell you, "You're not listening!" So just know, the words that he may share with you are very valuable...don't let the feeling of "defense mode" overwhelm you, and miss out on some great data that can make/break your situation. Court is court.... it's LONG... So, besides that fact... The Honorable Thomas G Jones gets a 5 frm me... Very patient, and a great heart. Real talk.

I would just like to say that I am thankful for Judge Jones. He really worked with my situation and I left out of the court room in tears. Also, the clerks there were awesom Sylva, and the other ladies explained all of my options. If you have a situation at this court, do not hesitate to talk to them.

Yes, getting someone to answer the phone is aggravating but Judge Jones was fair and provided knowledge to plaintiffs and defendants, alike. Overall, a good experience.

After calling 5 times and pressing "2" for "Traffic" and it proceeding to hang up on me every time. I finally just pressed the number 4 "No idea what extension that is for" and someone picked up. My recommendation is to not press the number "2"

This was the first time I've ever gone to court in my life. This has got to be the most unprofessional judge in the country. Not only was he rude, but he was also bias. My case was scheduled in the month of December, 2016. I was given until January, 2017, to rectify the problem. My husband and I did exactly what this judge instructed us to do to resolve the issue. During the hearing in December, 2016, the plaintiff clearly stated in front of this judge that she "did not want any monetary compensation". When we went back in January, 2017, the plaintiff asked for court cost and other ridiculous fees that she deliberately incurred. My husband reminded the judge of what the plaintiff said during our first hearing and he claimed "that he could not recall" . He then ordered that we pay court cost plus half of an unnecessary expense that the plaintiff lied about. When I advised the judge that I respected his decision, but I did not agree with it, he grew angry. I also advised him that I heard that he was fair, but I disagreed with his fairness in our case. This judge then stated "if you had won you would have thought I was fair". What he did not realize it wasn't a matter of win or lose for me. It was about listening to the facts then making an unbiased decision. In my opinion, he did not exercise good mediation skills which requires the mediator to be fair and unbiased to all parties involved, instead he used his power to try and intimidate us. I will pray for Judge Jones and may GOD have mercy on him.

Judge Jones on an eviction case, all he cares about is that landlord wants you out. It didn’t matter the landlord was openly being discriminatory, didn’t care the landlord was retaliating for my filing of discrimination case with city and HUD, didn’t care my rent was paid in time, didn’t care the landlord openly admitted they were not applying their policies consistently as the landlord was exercising “their discretion”. No justice here, wouldn’t even let me present my arguements to jury, which he was very annoyed I exercised that right. Openly hostile to me in front of jury so of course the jury did what he wanted. No justice here. He is for the landlord, for the ones with lawyers and $, not justice.

The court is a joke. Received a disputed citation and went to court in person 3 times to argue, but was never on the docket. Received a warrant letter 6 years later only to be told that I would have to pay additional fees just to speak with someone in the court regarding the validity of this fine. Ticket was crap as was this entire process. Clearly a money machine for Dallas. I am a teacher and if I did that to students, then I would be fired.

This is the most rudest Judge on the bench I have ever been before, he doesn't listen to the case and says rude remarks to people, he should retire, I don't know how he keeps getting elected, but do not file a civil case in his court PERIOD....
