The Feed Mill

This is down home country cooking but really excellent. Obviously burgers and fried fish are great but others like the grilled shrimp plate are surprising. The wait staff will remember you and often what you like to eat. It’s just a great family atmosphere with lots of good food. Can get crowded but they’re usually pretty quick.

Dang this place is awesome I flew into the local Airport to get some fuel ran into this older gentleman and he was full of knowledge and great stories so I asked him if they had a place to eat he said jump in and without a doubt we rode to the feed mill he knew everybody in town I do believe that it was his daughter and granddaughter that were our Hostess and waitress the food was amazing the pricing was really good and when I thought I was all done and stuffed they brought out fresh home cooked peach cobbler with ice cream talk about stuffed and happy I was able to buy the tour guide his dinner we were off to the airport and continued our trip to Austin area this is my new stop on my trip to and from Oklahoma to visit my new friend and eat lunch at the feed mill

Tastey food. Good service. Pricey but you get your money's worth.

We had the chicken tenders, onion rings, hamburger and fries. Everything was fresh and made to order. No frozen meat! The chocolate pie was delicious.

Country style restaurant. The food is really good and the waitress was awesome. I enjoy the friendly people/staff and the atmosphere is relaxing. You don't feel rushed to leave so you can sit eat and talk.

Stopped here for lunch. Had the small chicken fried steak with onion rings and fried okra. All were great.

WOW! This was the friendliest place and food is AMAZING! We are on the road today with the pups and in need of a lunch stop. Pulled up The Feedmill on the map and thought we'd give it a try. It's a glorious spring day and hoped for an outside spot to sit. They did not have outdoor seating BUT pulled a table and two chairs right out front under the tree for the perfect lunch! You have got to go see them! Southern fried catfish and green chili cheeseburger were delicious! So full...we took dessert to go.

Delightful experience with a nice historical atmosphere. Besides delicious food the staff was even better, highly recommend anyone for a nice dining experience.

Got the sourdough burger 🍔 catered to my pickiness, loaded up with pickles. My guy got the prime rib it was huge!

This place had a great atmosphere and friendly staff. They team we talked to was helpful and courteous. As for the food, we had the fried catfish, the steak tips, and the popcorn shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection and we all look forward to going back!

We went to the Feed Mill when we first moved here several years ago. The food was really good and prepared just how we ordered it. We just happened to be lucky enough to catch them open today.
Well the food was as good as ever and did not disappoint.
The chicken fried steak was the real deal, seasoned just right hand breaded and fried to a golden brown. The gravy was homemade and so good, I love good onion rings and these hit the mark. Hand breaded and fried just right, no chopped, formed and overcooked store-bought rings for this restaurant. Good food and friendly service. 5 stars. $$

Went here for a reception wedding party at f 20-25. Excellent service; delicious food; and plenty of space for all. Comfortable hometown decor. Almost makes me wish I was from Gatesville!

The chicken fried steak was maybe the best I've had in 4 decades of eating and working in Texas restaurants. Amazing. Delicious rolls and sea salt (not seesaw) caramel cheesecake. Fantastic service as well. Can't wait to go back.

This was my first visit to The Feed Mill and it won't be my last. Met with a friend for lunch. She tried the BLT - it was brimming with crispy bacon. She gave her sandwich a thumbs up. I had the Feed Mill burger with cheese and added mushrooms. It was juicy and flavorful. The restaurant decor is a very eclectic assortment of items from yester year.

I've been meaning to post a review for The Feed Mill for a long time now, but I always forget to take pictures when my food comes out. My wife and I come here on a regular basis because it's by far the best restaurant in Gatesville. The waitresses are always fantastic, and you get treated like a regular from the second you walk in the door.. Everything I've ever gotten has been delicious. Prime rib, catfish, burgers, and the Philly cheesesteak are a few of my favorites. Their homemade desserts are out of this world delicious too. I can't speak highly enough of the folks at The Feed Mill!

Food was soooooo good! It's a very cute little spot, only, it looks little but is actually kinda big. People were kind. Prices were great! But, the food y'all... The food was so delicious!
