You can TASTE the FRESHNESS of the food in the fruit alone. If you ever want to know how fresh of food you're eating, ask for their fruit or a salad.
I had the Filloas, savory crepes and they were bursting with flavor! No disappointment there. My daughter got an omelet with a side of fruit. The best part is the fruit was so FRESH we requested an actual side of fruit.
Now we were going to call it good there BUT when our wonderful server brought out the desert tray & I saw key lime pie with homemade whipped creme, I KNEW it was going to be fresh & have that beautiful zest with the sweet smooth creme to even it out & oh did it!
In short, there's a reason the Morning Star Cafe is raved about & it is well deserved.

Everything about this place was great.
Our server Reagan did a fantastic job and the food game out perfect.
I had the Breakfast BLTA and my fiancee had the Stuffed French Toast.
Between the Sage Mayo on mine and the amazing house made Raspberry and Vanilla Sauce on hers, they were both fantastic.
The Irish Coffees they offer were a great start to our New Year celebration.
Would recommend to anyone.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. A little cramped but we didn’t mind! We had a party of 8 so we had to wait about 45 minutes to get seated but it was a Sunday morning around 11 so that’s to be expected! They use a digital waitlist so you can easily go check out nearby shops while you wait for their text. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they had real half and half available for coffee (I hate creamer cups full of preservatives). The South Tuscan Scramble was to die for! Highly recommend fitting a Morning Star breakfast into your Grand Haven trip!

I don’t have many words to say, simply that this establishment had the best french toast I’ve ever had in my entire life. You can tell the cooks put their heart and soul into each dish and it shows in more than just the presentation but also the flavor, worth every penny you spend.

I can't say enough good things about our experience at Morning Star Cafe this morning. The price was right, the portions were just right, and the flavor was incredible! We will probably be making this our go to breakfast spot from now on. I got the Tucson Scramble and a Banana Crepe and it was to die for!

Must try restaurant for breakfast. Get there before 7 to avoid a wait.

This place does it right. Delicious food, great coffee, and their service is fast and friendly.

I got the Morning Star Muffin, the caramel cream dark roast, and their famous cinnamon roll. The Morning Star Muffin had a perfectly cooked sausage patty, a jammy over-medium egg, and cheddar cheese. Delicious- had with ketchup. The cinnamon roll was brought out warm with cream cheese icing- also delicious. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and show great care for your dining experience. In the past, I have also had their cinnamon blueberry smoothie and it was divine- it made me fall in love with that flavor combination!

Can’t recommend small restaurants who do it right just like this one enough.

Had breakfast here on a weekend to Grand Haven. First, the place is fun and has a terriffic menu. I had the Corn Cake Benny and my wife had gingerbread pancakes...great stuff. Second, their coffee is wonderful. Third, the service was some of the best I have experienced in a long time. Somehow this place keeps a full staff and they all seemed pleasant. Our server, Giana was wonderful! Asked us what we liked and made suggestions, and they were spot-on. All of our interactions here were great, but this young woman sets a standard for customer service. Highly recommend!

Great, unique food as always. They were understaffed today, which caused some slower than usual service.

UPDATE after 2/21/24 experience: I had the special Key Lime pancakes. They were among the best breakfast dishes I've ever had. Great texture, the graham cracker dusting was interesting and the key lime curd with whipped cream was outstanding. The service was great today.

Morning Star serves breakfast and lunch and is a great choice for either. We went for breakfast and had stuffed French toast with raspberry sauce, pumpkin pancakes, and one of their signature egg dishes and is was good as usual.

Morningstar has always been my local favorite breakfast stop. It’s nice to go on a weekday and avoid the weekend rush. Plan for a wait on weekends, but it’s nice they do a ‘virtual’ wait list where you can walk around a bit and pass the time waiting for your text that your table is available.

Their menu has Southwestern options in addition to your usual breakfast fare. I’ve always found my meal to be fresh and tasty. I like seeing what new stuff they come up with for specials each day. Also, the coffee… always so good.

Check it out! We always take out of town family who want to go out for breakfast. Never disappoints.

I can not tell you how much I love this place! I ate here one time a few years ago and haven't stopped since!! I live 2 1/2 hrs away and decided to make a day trip, and I was not disappointed. I highly recommend this AMAZING place to eat!

We had heard great things about this restaurant but never wanted to fight the crowd. We caved in and it was worth it. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! If you go, there most likely will be a wait - for a reason! You won’t be disappointed.

Great breakfast spot in Grand Haven. Was busy but the staff worked hard to keep everything moving. Good food and good service!

I came to have some hot water and dessert.
I was served in beautiful kettle and with lemon.
Being a chocolate lover ,the chocolate therapy dessert was well layered with Gamache, chocolate cake and cheesecake with side of strawberry jam. This was amazing combination and I highly recommend for chocolate lovers to try it out.

Best. Food. Ever. I genuinely drive an hour each way just to eat here. And it's always top quality. Great ingredients. Amazing dishes. Everything on the menu is fantastic. I can't say enough good things about here. Typing this review is making me hungry. Sign me up for a big star burrito, first thing in the morning 🌅

A wonderful quaint Southwest themed breakfast and lunch restaurant. We were here on a very busy Saturday morning in July so we had to wait, but it was definitely worth it! (There is a bookstore, wine shop, and other shopping to visit while you wait) The décor is charming and cozy and the food was terrific. They have a wide variety of choices on the menu. We had an egg bagel sandwich and a chorizo wrap. Both were great. They have fabulous coffee. Rich and strong. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommended.

Really excellent breakfast food run mostly by local kids. the service can be a little slow and they get very busy during weekends on the summer. they have more seating than they can effectively serve at once. but the food is great and i highly recommend going on weekdays or non peak season. I also recommend browsing the locally owned bookstore next door while waiting for your table.

one of my favorite things is their generosity with drinks. they love bringing you to go cups to take coffee with you when you leave and will bring carafes of drinks if you need refills.

Very tasty lots of flavor, great deserts. Service was top notch, loved how there always checking is everythings fine. Can't wait to visit again. Ginger pancake awesome. Stay hungry my friends.

Holy homemade goodness! Mexican specialties, fresh and local ingredients, deliciousness! Cool decor featuring local artists. Chilaquiles and homemade cornbread scramble, and Melanie was the best! Knows the menu and able to guide us to the perfect choices. Will be back next time we are in town!
