Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South Lamar

We visited this theater twice and it's been impressing me. It's been a great time coming here, the staff are chill, the servers are awesome, and the pre-showing clips are terrific.

They have awesome props such as from the Shining, 2001 Space Odyssey and more. You got to visit them to understand the nostalgic film vibe, whatever if it's called, it's so awesome.

The food is great obviously and the speedy service is two thumbs up. Hope you enjoy your stay as we did. Enjoy your movie and have a great family, date or solo movie time. Have fun!

Fantastic redo with the 237 addition and the new recliner seats are a dream (dare I say better than Mueller). Would love for them to move to gender neutral bathrooms like Mueller, but as always top notch movie entertainment going experience from Alamo.

Drinks are expensive, but its a night out. Went with friends and had fun the areas that looked like movie sets. Good mixed drinks. We chatted up with a bearded movie buff fellow on the way out about the Shining and Kubrick. Guy suggested we check out the comedy bar next door too. We're down.

I really like the new Kubrick re-theme. The recliner seats with the swivel trays are an improvement, too. Glad The Village got them, too. Maybe its lobby will get a little love next. Hint, hint.

I’d never been, but got the pleasure of attending a private premiere of the Book of Clarence last weekend with a friend! The renovations that did last year are GORGEOUS!

My friend, who’d been to the location several times, said it looked completely different inside. There’s a bar just to right when you enter, in case you arrive earlier to your movie and want to kill time. They had cocktails that looked amazing, but we had other plans.

Service was pretty fine, but attributed that to a busy night with a packed theatre. Everyone was very nice to us and made sure we had what we needed at the end of the day.

This place is my go to Movie Theatre.
I've come and gone to this Alamo several times and I can confidently say that I've never had a bad experience with the place.

The sound is great in every theatre, phenomenal in the Dolby Atmos theatre, and the food is always delicious. The staff is phenomenal, especially Jason who assisted me with changing my showtime for tickets I had previously purchased earlier today!
The process was real quick and real easy.

I went with family to see Dune 2 and had a great time. We arrived a little early and ordered food that arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. I had the omnivore pizza and highly recommend it. The service was fantastic, the seats comfortable and the popcorn came in a large bowl perfect for sharing.

The atmosphere is like no other, the front counter service on this visit was 10 stars. The servers inside didn't make us feel like we had to order anything from the menu, huge plus. Always a great place for a movie. I hope they don't sell to the wrong people.

This is nicest Alamo Drafthouse I’ve ever been too, it’s so nostalgic but modern at the same time. Went to go watch the bob Marley and the sound quality was amazing. Our waiter was amazing and all staff was professional. Parking was easy and on top of that free! Recommend taking a light sweater as it does get cold

I bought tickets for an upcoming show while I was distracted, and picked the wrong time. Then, somehow, bought more for the wrong date. I got a call from Starr and not only did she process a refund no problem, she also didn't laugh at me! (Not sure how, because I was an idiot) Per usual, great customer service!

I love all of these 1-star reviews of people who showed up late and couldn't get in - props to management for holding the line on that policy!

The best place to watch a movie and enjoy a cold beer! This movie theater is very cool, unique, and has an really retro vibe to it. It's very refreshing that it's not like all the regal cinemas which are boring. This one has really comfortable leather seats with a long table infront of each row, so the wait staff can place your food and drinks in front of you. It's really nice to have such a wide selection of beer and food for watching a movie! Thanks, I'll be back for sure, this is my new favorite theater!

Wow I couldn't ask for a better experience. I won't spoil it but the ambiance is stunning. I brought some cinephiles in to see Monkey Man and they were floored at the experience. Staff was attentive and helpful. Great food. The truffle popcorn a must.

Such a cool concept! This is how movies should be done! A great movie theater taken to the next level with gourmet food and drink that is brought to you while you enjoy your movie. It's everything that you would want!

They have burgers, pizza, salads, chicken fingers, great appetizers including cauliflower wings, mozzarella sticks, great popcorn and much more. My personal recommendation is to try the milkshakes (adult versions too) makes for a perfect combo while you watch your film.

The staff and service is incredible. They are prompt, kind and super friendly.

This is a great venue and makes for a great overall atmosphere for your movie day or night!

You've got grandma and grandpa doing the hustle like they are back in their teens again.

I was out there dancing with them teaching those who didn't know the hustle how to do it. Man! It was a wonderful night.

Drinks were pouring, legs were dancing, hands were up in the air , no Shame!

During my recent experience, I went to go see blue beetle at the Lamar Alamo Drafthouse. At the time I went, they were doing minor construction/updates to the theater. I was able to experience than you recliner seats. My favorite part about using the new recliner seat is using the new rotating food tray. This is definitely a great update. I hope the other Alamos get this new rotating tray. I look forward to my next adventure at Alamo Drafthouse.

I always love my visits to South Lamar Alamo (or SLAMO as we call it). Excellent beer selection, fantastic burger and fries. I’m dying to try the cauliflower buffalo bites, I’ll have to report back on those. The lobby and The Shining Hallway are looking awesome after the renovations.

Great place and great vibes! We visit here a lot, but most recently came for a pre-screening of Netflix's new show, 3 Body Problem. They've recently renovated a lot, so the comfort now matches some of the other, newer locations. The table at each chair swivel so you can enjoy your food more comfortably or move the small table out of the way and relax to watch the movie. The chair also recline at a better angle and are more comfortable. Service and food is always great, so not much more to elaborate there. We'll be back soon!

I’ve gone to several movie theaters in Austin and have been disappointed but when I came here I was SO happy. Great AC, comfy chairs and the crispiest Coke Zero ever.

Amazing experience at this Alamo Drafthouse. The inside design is very unique amongst the Drafthouse in the Austin area. As others have noted there are garages around the theater, when I went on a Friday night there was no problem finding parking.

The waiters and food were top notch and enjoyed the bar style table setup for popcorn, drinks etc as opposed to Lakeline and the Village Drafthouse locations.

A pro tip, in theater one at least, strongly suggest getting row 3 or 4 to avoid having to slouch!

So I have not been here since their new remodel. I have to say the remodel is awesome everything works everything's super comfy The chair was different I will say I think I'll have to come over to really get used to everything restrooms were super clean. Everybody was super friendly and I would definitely be coming back.
