Excellent atmosphere, service and food. Food, beverage and ice cream selection was astonishing. Wow such quality and great flavor served with tons of smiles and yes hospitality. Where else could I get goat cheese on my sandwich? They have a true wow factor. A must try for all. Justine was our waitress ...great job. All staff were pleasant and helpful and felt more like family than guests. Establishment was spotless and apparently under top notch management with a staff of industry leading professionals. No cons all pros here. No changes needed.

Absolutely worth the minor detour off Old Route 66. The food and service were excellent, and the entertainment was a pleasant surprise. The pork chop special was hearty and the banana split was to die for. We'll be back!

Great food and fun atmosphere. We really liked the food and the building has so much interesting Rt 66 memorabilia to see. The old cabinets filled with antique pharmacy items are interesting to check out. Only thing I would change would be to have the option of fries or onion rings instead of chips. We were too full to try the ice creams but will definitely be back later!!

What a hidden gem! Located in a historic building with lots of antique things inside. They offer old fashioned soda fountain options as well as ice cream flight. Staff is very friendly.

One of my favorite restaurants!!!
The manager Maddy (sp?) Is awesome!! I took my friend (who is a nurse for 40yrs) there a couple days ago and it took her way back. She looked at everything there was to look at. The food was great as usual! The service was exceptional also! I've never had a bad experience there!! I tell everybody I know about it.

The food was superb. The service was even better. And the atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant is a converted pharmacy from probably the 30s and it still retains a lot of the original fixtures (like cabinets and counter, etc). Our server was the absolute best. There is actually a flight of ice cream. None of us were disappointed.

It was my first time there tonight, and I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, and the staff very friendly!
Sat down and was attended to promptly; menus, silverware, napkins..."your server shall be right with you"
Drinks came out right away, and was given time to look over the menu before placing order.
I ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich with chips, and my daughter the kids cheese pizza. The pizza came out fresh and hot and super cheesy. And the sandwich smelled amazing as well; chicken seasoned just right, and the homemade ranch was also very tasty!
My daughter and I also decided to try the ice cream flight; and OMG was the blackberry cobbler to die for🤤 (yummmm), and my daughter loved the caramel praline pecan.
We will definitely be coming here again!

Doc's just off Route 66. Girard Illinois:

Time Travel Is Real!   Alright, maybe it's not real but you will feel like it even before you walk through the doors of the unique establishment located in this quaint and rustic little town.   This has been a drug store and soda fountain since the 1800's. There was a period where it was used as something else, but It has been restored and is now a great little restaurant and soda fountain once again.

The entire inside area is just brimming with items from the past. Many of which are from the original pharmacy now encased behind glass or on shelves.  There is even the traditional bar and stools that you can step up to and enjoy some ice cream, food or a delicious float.  There is literally no place you can look that does not transport you back in time.

We had an excellent lunch here and the best part was the root beer floats, they were just overflowing with delicious ice cream!

While talking to our server and getting a bit of History we also learned that she was the daughter of the woman who purchased and restored this place to such a fantastic feast for the eyes.

When we are in the area again we will definitely be stopping back for another great round of food and floats!

What a fun place! Ice cream parlor on one side, restaurant on the other. Had the chocolate cherry float. Yum!! Served with a big wide straw. Girlfriend had the ice cream flight--6 half scoops in a cupcake tin, your choice of flavors. Flights are not just for airports & wine anymore, LOL! Interesting old photos & memorabilia. Highly recommended, & supporting a small local business.

Excellent both times this week! Charming drug store atmosphere, wonderful owners, good food selection, and the ice cream creations out of this world! I highly recommend!

This place is wonderful and charming. I love the pharmacy museum inside and the friendly crowd and staff. My 6yo son LOVED the chocolate milkshake. We will be back! A big thank you to a very kind woman from the DAR who told me about this place.

I love everything about Docs Just Off 66! The atmosphere is phenomenal. Located in an old drug store, the owners have tried to preserve the history of the loaction and keep that old-time drug store feel with original shelves and display cases. It's like taking a step back in time.
Some of the servers are young and are still learning the ropes, but with a little grace and patience that every human deserves, you still get excellent service with a smile.
There are essentially two rooms separated by some pretty french doors that remain open for access back and forth between the different areas. I would call the area off of the kitchen the main dining area where there are more tables for seating. The side that you enter on has mostly bench style seating. There are also bar stools and a few bar height and regular height tables near the slots area. I prefer the bench tables as you come in if dining with only a couple of people during the warmer seasons because of the atmosphere the old drug store bar provides. But I would opt for the main dining area during the winter months to avoid the cold when people are entering and exiting the building.
The food! Oh my gosh! The food is delicious! I signed up for the text alerts and the photos of their specials instantly make my mouth water. I hate that it's a 20 minute drive. If I lived in Girard, I would be there multiple times each week. I have tried a few things so far and haven't settled on a favorite yet, but I for sure recommend the Deck Burger. The flavor was amazing! And you have to save room or find room to enjoy dessert, as well. The last ice cream I got was the Royal Banana Sundea (see photo). Grandma got the Deck Sundae with 3 choices of toppings. We were stuffed after our 3 course meal. But so happy. 😊
My other favorite thing about Docs is that they host events. Definitely like them on Facebook to see what events they have coming up. Me & my boyfriend's grandma love going to the Group Pull events they just started in December 2023. So if you like to gamble, give that a try. I have seen a few events where they have local singers and musicians as well.
Docs is a great restaurant to support if you are looking for good food, nice atmosphere, friendly service, and entertainment (on scheduled nights).

Ate here on 5-7-24. Had milkshakes and they were some of the best we ever had. Plus it's just off Route 66

Great little gem tucked away on Route 66 in small town America! A must see while driving through.

Experience a REAL soda fountain where they mix up the syrup and carbonated water right in front of you!

Amazing place! Had a hand dipped strawberry shake that was dreamy and it even had a wide-mouth paper straw. The owners were working and told us some of the history of the building and route 66. The food was delicious and the portions were perfect!

Normally, I rate the food. And the food was great. The atmosphere was fine too. But the wait staff was just spectacular. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly. Turns out he us from our hometown and just about the nicest kid you could meet. Definitely worth a quick detour off the highway for a sandwich and milkshake.
