Chan's Garden Mongolian Grill

Probably the closest I’ll ever get to my Florida Chinese take-out. Tastes way better than any other restaurant I’ve tasted since moving up north. Need a little more flavor in their fried rice but my opinion though. Delivery guy is very nice and respectful! Always smiling and seems like he’s always having a good day. Definitely coming back for more!! ❤

This place… oh my goodness, this place. The GEM of the Illinois Valley. I could sing praises to Mongolian Grill from the rooftops, and I would if I had access to a roof.

Let me state that I have been eating here since they opened, around 2013-2014 perhaps. Everything has stayed consistent, including the pricing, and that’s been impressive. When you walk in, you have the option of ordering from the menu or doing the buffet and let me tell you- get the buffet. If you can cook at all, you will enjoy yourself here. You’ll get your soft drink, then it’s off you go to build your masterpiece. Five separate buffets with two side stations, there’s a lot to process. There’s two small stations, one for fried rice and one for ice cream. There’s a cold bar in the back which features some salad items and desserts, and one buffet table full of ready to eat apps and foods with some soups offered. I did giggle that the one says “eggg dorp soup”. It’s what you’d expect at any Chinese buffet.

Then we get to the good stuff- the hibachi stuff. You have three bars for hibachi: your noodles and veggies, your meats, and your sauce ingredients. You get a bowl and load it up with your choice of noodles and veggies, there are so many options. Tofu, egg, zucchini, baby corns, broccoli, water chestnuts, sprouts… I can’t get enough color! Then you move over to the meat buffet, where you select your raw cuts and place the pieces in your bowl. I typically do the beef and shrimp, always good quality. You’ll bring your bowl to the hibachi grill and set it on the counter so they can start cooking it. You’ll go make your sauce at this point, which is where it could get overwhelming if you don’t know flavors well. There are probably 20 sauces to mix and about 25 seasonings and the likes to add flavor, so there’s a lot of room for creation with your sauce! You’ll bring it up to the hibachi again when you’re done, and they’ll plate your order and bring it to you if needed.

For $10.99 a person, what a stellar deal. So much fresh produce and variety from a family owned business, it’s a staple in the Illinois Valley. Although I’ve moved to another state at this point, this is the one restaurant I haven’t seen done this well and one I miss whole heartedly. I visited the IV from Florida recently and ensured I ate there several times because I just can’t get enough of the great service and incredible food. If you haven’t eaten here yet, you’re missing out. Stop by today and build yourself the meal you deserve.

Placed order online. There was some confusion when we arrived because I had ordered off an older menu. The boy who greeted and took care of us could not have been any more accommodating or kind and respectful toward us. We experienced only a short wait due to the confusion, and everything was delicious!

I really like their new setup. My dad is a healthy eater, so this was a perfect option for him to eat just plain vegetables and a choice of scallops, whitefish, pork, chicken, crabmeat, beef, calamari, shrimp, or sausage, as his protein. They have a really nice salad bar, with plenty of cold salads and fruit. They also now have a selection of premade Chinese dishes, like general tso's, sesame chicken, broccoli and beef, crab Rangoon, chicken on a stick, etc. Or...you can do like I did and made my own sauce and had them cook my vegetables and meats on the flat top grill. Two dinner buffets, with a soda a and an iced tea was $25. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The salad bar had fresh salad and fruit. I really liked the crab Rangoon. I didn’t try much from the buffet because we came for the grill. If you know what flavors you like in your food, this is a great place to go. I came with someone who was on a low salt diet and the cook was very helpful.

How did I not know this place existed?! I’ve had a lot of Chinese food in my day, from near and far, and this is surprisingly one of the best! We had delivery so I can’t speak to how the physical restaurant is (yet). What I can say is the food was so delicious! Everything had wonderful flavor and was cooked perfectly. And the portions… army sized. One order of whatever you choose is enough for multiple meals or people. We had chicken lo mein, chef’s special fried rice, general tsos chicken, sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon and shrimp and chicken egg rolls. I couldn’t believe the amount of food for the money. I can’t wait to eat my leftovers later and probably order from them weekly! Highly recommend!

We moved to the area in April and this is one of our favorite places to go for lunch near my husband's job! The owners are very kind, I often come in with my small children and they have always been very accommodating of us. The last time we went there were 3 adults and 5 kids under 4 in our group and it was honestly complete chaos but we had a great time.
The food is great, they always bring out a fresh selection of Chinese staples like chicken and broccoli and Mongolian beef. The teriyaki chicken on a stick is really good.
The stir fry selection is vast too! Many options of sauce, veggies, meat, and noodles. This is my favorite part of this place and it never disappoints! And the price for lunch is honestly the best value.

Very tasty food! Had the tangerine chicken and friends were able to eat Vegan dishes by making selections from the Mongolian Grill. Everything was fresh!

I've never had Mongolian food before, and I'm glad I had it here first. The service was amazing, we called ahead first to make sure they take American Express (they do), and the waitress recognized my voice. The food was great, when I told the cook I had never eaten there before he lead me on a tour and let me taste all of the sauces before I chose which one I wanted. The vegetables tasted fresh, the meat was great. I was very happy with my experience. I would definitely make another trip there.

Best place for Asian food in the LaSalle/Peru. I've been to hunan, master buffett, and hyvee. Dont waste your time at these other places.. I've been ordering take out from chans. I've tried multiple dishes. All fresh, all hot, great flavor and good price.

I’m a long time fan of Mr Chan, who used to be my neighbor for 5 years. I’ve sampled about half of the menu, and I have rarely had a dish I didn’t like. My favorite is the honey walnut shrimp, which is delicious, and very cheap considering the size and number of prawns you get. Load up on those donuts, too. You won’t be disappointed I give it 5 shrimps 🍤 🍤🍤🍤🍤 plus one 👌🏻snap 👆🏻up

Great and Welcoming Staff Everytime I come to Pick Up. Always coming back a second time around for those chinese donuts! My wife loves the chef’s specials! Amazing Fresh Fruit Smoothies!!! We are about to get them every day! Best Place Around!

Love it! Go there all the time. Have fun playing with different sauces every time we go. One of the only places you can get seafood for the same price as other types of meat. I get shrimp, mussels, fish & calamari every time I go. Cheap, too. Only $14 for two people to eat & salad bar & Rangoon are always a good start to the meal. Excellent.

The hard scooped ice cream placed this rating at a 5. However, everything else was fantastic as well. You are able to pick whatever you want in your stir fry including sauces and spices, which is cooked right in front of you. The service was great as well. The only issue I had was that some of the buffet items were slow at being replenished, but everything that was out was super tasty. Besides, there was enough mongolian bbq items for stir fry to make anyone happy. The price was super reasonable for the amazing meal at this place!

Favorite hibachi style place I've ever been to. Owners are very friendly and the food is always cooked to perfection! Plenty of options to choose from, hard to go wrong with eating here.

I was stunned on how affordable the prices were. They even gave me extra rice when I ordered a combination size sweet and sour chicken. Most places would just give you the chicken alone. They have a new customer :)

Super nice and warm welcoming us when we walk throught the door. Had dinner with my coworkers, foods were good. Nice relax atmosphere and feel like I can go here for every weekend. Such a nice restaurant and nice staffs. Especially the owner.

I really like their food because it's reasonable and price well and their Buffet is even the best that I've ever had and and LaSalle County I would recommend them to anybody and everybody because they deliver they have a Great Buffet and you can watch them make your food for you and they're very nice.

Worth the few miles to travel off of the highway. Friendly service. Fast service.

Excellent selection and variety of meats and vegetables for the grill.

Some of the protein selections are: beef, lamb, chicken, shrimp, scallops, mussels, pork, sausage, and a few more!

One section is of dry seasonings and then liquid and oil seasonings. (I took pictures).

There is also a buffet of pre-made foods and soup and rice.

A buffet selection of fresh greens for salads plus fruits. Even liche!

And for dessert...... Your choice of six different 5 gallon containers of dippable ice-cream. YUM! YUM!

We will definitely be back.

I absolutely loved this place. This restaurant is a downtown eatery a few miles off I-39 + I-80 in La Salle. The place is a little dated but so what. There is a small selection of prepared dishes but It is primarily a Mongolian grill where you select your own ingrediants, sauces and spices then the guy at the large grill cooks them. There are many veggies, meats, sauces and spices to choose from and all ingrediants were fresh. The cook did a great job cooking my meal and it was delicious. I will definately stop back next time thru.
