I grew up down the road a couple blocks so I'm biased when it comes to this park, a lot has changed, a lot is gone and missed. Needs a concession stand, needs some type of entertainment, needs a lifeguard, seriously folks, this lake needs a position open for lifeguard on duty ....

Beautiful, lots of open green area, a very nice play ground and lots of picnic area. We really enjoyed Kayaking on the lake. The only thing missing is a sand beach, otherwise perfect!

Truly a great day out on the water.... so many little places to explore and the 4 hours is ample time to enjoy them all!! Will definitely be returning.

I love this park, did a lot of picnics and swimming there. I would loved to have seen it when the amusement park was there.

Kayaking and Fishing Across Vandercook, Also Cove Lake. One small mouth bass, a rock bass two bluegills and a sunfish and almost a baby turtle. Then I paddleded all the way back wasn't white caps but it was Rocky....... Let it be known my arms are going to feel like two noodles tomorrow. Had fun got me some sun 😁

Kayaking, swimming, sunning, walking the dog or fishing, always lovely at the lake. ADA accessible kayak launch, right on the beach.

Love this lake although you do need to be careful and stay inside the swim area cause it does drop off right after but other then that its a great place plus has a little park and BBQ grills

We like to play on this playground especially if it's a warm day because the wind from the lake is nice

This park is beautiful!! And the water was actually starting to warm up weeks ago. Although swimming allowed it's not my fav place to swim...but their park is clean fully equipped for families n kids or groups. On site kid toys. Bathrooms. 2 picnic areas with grills n under roofs too so no rain ever ruined a picnic. It's an outstanding addition to Vandercooks history n beauty. Make sure to make kids n teens wear life vests if swimming is desired...n sandals_footwear. It has some dangerous deep dropoffs n Rocky bottom at first n water is dirty so you can't always see the holes.

Great place to bring the kids just stay away from the left side. Some holes that swallow you up. So keep all eyes on you baby's. I have a old friend who's past know.. God bless him but he lost a daughter to the lake so please be careful and boaters try not to dry dock..I've seen it to many times

Always a nice quiet place to relax and read a book or something. During the summer I like swimming here and love that you can kayak the lake for a decent price!

It's a free park, and lots of people live on the lake so sometimes they set off fireworks at night.
There's a little play area for small kids that's got a jungle gym and swings, as well as a couple of benches around it so that you can watch your kids and make sure they don't get hurt.
The water was full of algae though, and it was very warm, almost like bath water. So if you're squeamish you might not like it at all.
There was a creepy guy here too, we came on the 4th of July and he wouldn't stop approaching us and he walked around the parking lot for a while checking doors. If you're very concerned about losing valuables I suggest that you keep your doors locked and your windows rolled up.
Very few zebra mussels or anything like that in the water as well, not a lot of fish either. I think it's because the water is so hot.
There's no beach part, it just goes from grass to Lake, no sand in the middle.
we went and the concession stand was closed because someone had died in the lake the day before, which surprised me because why was the lake still open for the 4th of July? That's a little disrespectful.
