We decided on the Grand Hotel for our anniversary, and it was a fantastic choice. There's a lovely balance of historical charm and modern comfort. The dining was an experience in itself – truly delightful. We enjoyed sipping drinks on the porch and unwinding at the Cupola Bar. Plus, the car-free atmosphere of the island is such a refreshing change. A heads up: they have a dress code after 6pm, which added a classy touch to our evenings. Overall, a memorable stay that we'd highly recommend.

We only visited the Grand Hotel rather than lodge there.... Too pricy for our budget! What a beautiful and grand place, though! The interior is historically correct and the colors are fresh. Even though the temperature was hovering around 50°, the sunny porch was shirtsleeve weather. The service was exceptional. We had a cocktail and our server was pleasant and treated us like royalty. Will go back and stay another time!

Grand is the proper word to describe this magnificent hotel. I was amazed by the story regarding the construction of the facility in 92 days. Each guest room is uniquely decorated in a way that takes you back in time. The grounds are impeccably kept and the flower gardens are amazing. My only regret is that we did not book a longer stay.

We did not stay at the hotel . We did pay the $10 to tour the hotel and sit on the massive porch. It was absolutely beautiful. The views, landscape and drink service was amazing!

My wife took me to the Grand Hotel for my birthday. It’s one of those bucket list places you’ve just got to see! The Grand is everything it’s built up to be. The accommodations, the views, the experience of crossing the straits on a ferry! That said, when we go back , I would choose another one of the many options for our stay. The Grand offers beautiful amenities such as the huge lobby and the large porch, but you have to share with the constant influx of tours coming through. I get it, it’s a destination hotel and everyone wants to see it, but for the money you pay to stay there you don’t expect to fight crowds! Twice a female employee at the ice cream entrance yelled at me and my wife asking us if we are guests of the hotel! A bit odd and embarrassing being we paid 700 per night to stay there! Actually that bothered more than anything. What did we do to deserve that. Everyone looked at us! Kinda deserved an apology for that but nothing. Anyway, it Just takes away from the charm of this beautiful hotel when you have hundreds of senior citizens cramming into the lobby with their name and tour number on a lanyard hanging around their neck. Again love the Grand and top notch service just next time another hotel would be more relaxing

Amazing! Beautiful! Majestic! The Somewhere in Time memorabilia room is great. The souvenir shop had lots of items pertaining to the movie. The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The day pass allowed us to roam the entire grounds and inside the hotel. They honestly didn’t check for the passes at all. I am so happy I was able to visit this filming location!

What can I say is the grand hotel? Absolutely top-notch amazing!!! My wife and I and two girls went here for the night. Enjoyed dinner, High Tea and a bountiful breakfast! The dinner offers a multitude of options that are not in your ordinary menu. Very classy, high-end dining experience for breakfast tea and dinner alike dancing in the evening after 6 PM must be formal attire simply walking around the ground and enjoying all the hotel has to offer is unlike any other experience you have likely encountered!

Beautiful and interesting, historical building. We had the lunch buffet. Amazingly delicious. There was soup, a salad and cheese, meat and cracker bar...shrimp and oysters on the half shell...roast beef, chicken and salmon with mashed potatoes and roasted mixed vegetables the best tasting ham I've ever had plus a fruit and dessert bar. Can hardly wait to go back.

We did not stay here. We paid the $10 to do the self guided tour. Which was cool because you are able to see the Grand porch in person and the main areas of the Grand.
We were able to go to the Cupola Bar, which was really nice, and had beautiful views!

A must see, and a once in a life time experience.
The retro atmosphere, and the smell of horses, is not something you can get many places in the world.
Dinner at the Grand is always great, and the service was exquisite.
No one leaves the island without a box of fudge. Sticking around to see the process af making the fudge is a must see

It can either be a once in a lifetime experience or an annual trip. The experience is awesome and the food is gourmet. The menu is different every night. The pool is beautiful and warm (89), the workout area is excellent. The history behind the hotel and how it came about is mind blowing.

A great historic hotel. While expensive, it is worth it so you can experience a night in a hotel that is well over 135+ years old. The porch is a great place to relax and admire the view of the lake and the grounds are well maintained. The pool is great if you have kids. Staff was helpful and very friendly.

A very nice place to see. The hotel rooms are expensive but the food, drinks, service, and entertainment was great! There was dancing which was really fun, too.

We did not stay here but went and walked around. It was amazing, to say the least. What history has this place seen over the years. My wife could not get enough of this historic hotel!

Was on a cruise lunch tour in the hotel. It was a buffet. Nothing special, the beef boneless ribs were great as was the shrimp, class, and desert was ice cream ball rolled in pecans and served in a dish of chocolate. Classy staff experience. One time thing. They actually charge to access the hotel just to sit on the long porch or walk around. Went to the bar on the upper floor but wasn't impressed with the prices or the ambiance. No real comfortable seating.

Incredible historic hotel. Should be on everyone's bucket list to stay here once. The decor and landscaping is amazing. If you're a fan of the movie "somewhere in time", then you'll enjoy seeing the filming location. My only recommendation is to not buy the meal package. The food is overpriced for the quality of what you get. Yes, you should spend the money and eat in the dining hall once for the experience. But I've had better food for 1/2 the price elsewhere.

Really enjoyed our afternoon tea and pastries and champagne! A little on the pricey side but a great experience, not a big fan of how commercialized it's become over the last 20 plus years though a little sad but we'll go again because it was a wonderful experience.

Such a fabulous place! Everyone has been exceptional and very in tune to our needs. They take care of your luggage to the city you are going to. You do not have to worry about anything when you stay at the Grand!

There is the Grand Hotel…and everything else. Have to experience it at least once in your life.

The renovated Ester Williams $10M pool area is EXCEPTIONAL. The nicest pool area I’ve seen in Michigan anywhere. Don’t miss it.

Grand Hotel, excellent all around, we stayed 2 days and 2 nights. 358 rooms, each one decorated differently. Great food. Largest front porch in world 600ft.
