Freighters Eatery & Taproom

This place took us by surprise. We almost didn’t go because it’s located in a hotel but we wanted somewhere to eat that had a few of the water and Canada. This is our first time in Michigan and wanted to take it all in. The food and the view were fantastic. The portions were much much much larger than expected. The staff was also extremely friendly shoutout to our amazing waitress Marie, she answered all my crazy kids question about the lake and the boarder lol. Best fish and chips we have had in a long time.

Stopped in Port Huron on the way back from my Grandson's hockey tournament.

The perch was very good and the waffle fries were excellent too!

Our server Richard took care of us by feeding Grandpa a perfect porter beer!

Remarkable food and fantastic staff. Kudos to Ryan and Nikki. Always were upbeat and positive and gave great service to every guest.

I was so impressed with this restaurant, that I came back in the Spring 2023 and again, just couple of days ago. This is such a wonderful restaurant in Port Huron and it keeps me traveling over 80 miles (round trip) each time to visit.
Another stellar lunch, today, for the 3 of us. Highly recommend the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, the BBQ Beef Brisket and the Fish and Chips. The server Robert was excellent, too.
The views are over the top, once again. Of course, more pics of the wonderful food and indoor/outdoor views of this establishment. The atmosphere, both inside and out is fantastic. Can't wait to visit again.

Great place to visit when exploring the riverfront of Port Huron. Good food... plenty of fish choices, friendly staff, very clean, nice atmosphere inside, however prices were a bit on the top end. The views of the St Clair River are incredible. During the warm months, there is seating outside to take in the river views, too. Definitely recommend Freighters when visiting Port Huron.

We had a great dinner there! It’s comfortable atmosphere, good water view, and family-friendly. Some big party also was having same time. It’s located ground floor of the hotel and is accessed easily. We will be there again soon!

Spectacular view of the channel from almost any seat in the restaurant. Fries were done to perfection. "The Freighter" burger with a fried egg and Monterey Jack cheese is a great choice.

Food was great, service was outstanding. Our waitress was very attentive without crowding us. The view of the St. Clair river and the Blue Water bridge to Canada is perfect for an evening out.

The Fish & Chips are fantastic! So much food I couldn't finish it. Hubby had a burger cooked to perfection. They sat us at the perfect table outside overlooking the water. Service was on top of it!

They were super busy and it was my mother’s birthday and our server was wonderful🩷she made her birthday even more of a celebration! I had the Lumberjack burger and it was spot on delicious!!!! Also, the bartender made me an awesome mixed drink!!!

Great restaurant, was very hospitable and felt cozy, was also clean and neat. We were well takin care of even with them being shorthanded in the kitchen. Has a really nice view if you sit towards the back you can see outside better and take it in. Good beer selection on tap not the biggest selection but quality over quantity I suppose. Definitely get the fish tacos they were delicious. The mesa chicken wrap was also great with a blackened seasoning on the chicken that had a lot of flavor and a lil spice.

Chili is a sacred food, everyone has a favorite and will go down swinging to defend their choice. I’m not sure I’m that dedicated to that but I will say in my opinion Freighters has the best chili I’ve ever had. I am not in for super spicy, five alarm tonsil burning cuisine. The Freighters offering starts off sweet and gradually works up to a pleasant spicy finish. Also I had the Freighter Burger, which was an average burger. I have a return scheduled soon.

What a great way to rest between rock hunting and fishing by having a refreshing meal at Freighters. This restaurant is comfortable, allows plenty of space between tables and offers an abundance of cuisine for every palate. Although I only had water, their bar selection had various beers on tap, as well as the normal wine and mixed drink selection. I had the Lumberjack Burger with smoked bacon and onion straws. It was pretty darn good! My wife selected the delicious Freighters house salad which was more than plentiful. Our friend's son ordered the Beer Battered Chicken Strips. It came with 4 gargantuan chunks of chicken piled on a platter of French fries. It took a little time for our food to arrive, about average for this kind of restaurant. But that's part of dining here. Come to enjoy the atmosphere, the scenery and the first-class food. We did and so will you.

Had a lovely experience this weekend! We were at the hotel for a culinary competition so I had a bit of downtime while the kids prepped. I sat the bar and had an amazing Brussels Sprouts Salad. So flavorful! The next day I had a Freighters burger. 🍔 It was cooked just right 😊 and the fries were so crispy and yummy!

The bartender, Cody, was delightful to speak with and the view from the restaurant is fantastic! I can only imagine what it would look like in the summer!

If you get to the edge of Michigan, stop in, grab a salad or a burger (they are half off on Mondays!), and tell Cody I say hi!!! Cheers 🤗

Visiting from Califirnia. The food was really great here. Biggest Wedge Salad I have ever seen. Salmon was cooked perfect. Doreen was an excellent server! She took really great care of us. Very prompt and professional. When I return from Cali, I will make sure to visit this Restaurant again

Amanda waited on us. She was friendly, fast and professional. The food was very good. We ordered the bourbon glazed grilled salmon and the freighter burger. The view from the window seating was breathtaking.

Wife and I had the breakfast buffet on a Sunday morning. Server was awesome. Food was good. Had to order pancakes because it was not a part of buffet on this day. They were very tasty tho. Very reasonably priced, Overall good breakfast experience.

This was my first time there and the atmosphere was very nice and quiet. I went with my daughter and her family late in the evening, and they were not busy at all. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was very helpful. With us having a table full of children, the staff was very understanding and great with any request we had. The food was very good and I quite enjoyed it. My fish was cooked perfectly. This is a very nice restaurant, I would come here again next time I'm in town.

Well, you cannot beat the view. Do a little research about when some ships are coming thru and enjoy the show. The burger was very good but I hate seasoned fries. The bread pudding was just too heavy on cinnamon. The calamari appetizer was high quality but a little bland. Overall it is a nice place. We will return.

Spent the weekend in Port Huron for work. Had never been to Freighters and decided to finally go and order some dinner. Glad I did as it was absolutely a great experience. The view, the service, the atmosphere, the delicious food and the will definitely return soon. Hailey, our server, was absolutely the best!!

Food was delicious, staff was very attentive. I went for dinner one night and breakfast every morning while staying at the attached hotel (DoubleTree). I ordered the Lumberjack burger with a side of Mac n Cheese. Both were fantastic. The maple flavor on the burger stood out. Even the fries were amazing; I almost forgot to eat everything else.
