Tony's Original Restaurant

We came here with about 25 people with no warning and they handled it so well. (We should’ve decided where to eat and called before hand. Don’t be us!) Our waitress was a rockstar in taking our orders. The food portions were HUGE. Everything tasted great! Thank you to all the staff for their patience and our apologies if other customers were affected by us. We recommend anything at Tony’s!

Last time, I ate at Tony's 40 years ago. It was good to come back. I ordered the original steak sandwich grilled with mozzarella and mushrooms and the family size Sundae.

Wow I don't get all the bad reviews. I understand there's a few imperfections like they may hire new waitresses which one was nice and new. She has dark hair and Italian looking..she kind of reminds me of a friend I have.

I ordered a pizza and they forgot to put the high stand out first but they did get it to me after it was placed to me on a oven pizza pan but besides things like this, I don't see a real problem eating here.

I went two times two days in a row so a place has to be pretty damn good if I do even that. I don't go to a place 2 days in a row most times. The meatball sandwich sold me. I liked how it was done like a meatball cake on scali bread and the next day I got a 16 inch cheese. The only imperfection maybe was the crust didn't have as much a crisp to it but the dough is still delicious and everything they have is so that can even be overlooked. At least it wasn't raw but it remained like a biscuity whitish buttery kind of texture. It complimented the pizza fine. The sauce and cheese were perfect and that alone made up for it.

A customer asked for a southern style bisquit and the owner said he didn't know what that was, I found that so funny on the customer and the owners behalf that one would ask that there and the response the owner gave. And I thought their dough sort of tasted like that too in a way in pizza form yet it wasn't a bisquit or cracker crust.

At the very least, they offer a lot of things here, I was surprised a true italian restaurant actually offered both breakfast and Mexican food too. Never seen that in my life going anywhere yet it's here in Saginaw. And normally if a place offered tacos with pizza or pasta, the quality didnt taste as good maybe ok.

To those haters, I would say that maybe you're being too hard on them here. And another that made me laugh is that patrons were supposedly cussing up a storm and acting ghetto. Didn't see that either. I'd comment on it if I did. It's mostly nice older people in an older pretty nice neighborhood. In that area haven't been bothered.

Ok end review...great food and I would trust the steak and cheese too even though I didn't get it here. If i had to guess, it's put in a roll . They might put different stuff in different bread for different sandwiches, that be pretty cool if they did. I don't like as many michigan steak and cheeses but I'd trust this one to be good so that says something judging by the food I had here.

Had a great experience with takeout! Never had takeout from there before, food yes, but never in a takeout setting. Well let me tell you, it was just as enjoyable, if not better than, dining in. 10 outta 10, highly recommend!

I prefer State st, since this one on Gratiot made me pay for fish that wasn't cooked properly! Haven't been there since!!
As for State st. During my last visit with my mom in August of 2020 my mom was so concerned about not wearing a mask. The waitress recognized us as being regulars and told us we could sit in the table marked for call in orders. Cause the other handicap table was occupied. I told my mom not to worry with 1 lung you have medical exemption. So neither 1 of us wore masks. I was researching all the pandemic crap so I knew. But the waitress treated us so fantastic and made my mom not feel so bad about not wearing a mask. That Tony's was awesome! Unfortunately I haven't been there since cause my mom passes in that October of 2020. But a BIG THANKYOU AND SHOUT OUT TO STATE ST TONYS! MY MOMS LAST MEAL THERE WAS AWESOME AND I APPRECIATE IT GREATLY!! THANKYOU!

Clean, big portions, bacon was actually fresh and not reheated like some others Tonys. Server Ann is friendly and a hard worker.

I grew up enjoying Tony's steak sandwiches and their banana splits. I visited Saginaw this past weekend a finally was able to find time to stop in for a meal. This time for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised that after all these years the food is still rich with taste. I love breakfast and they did not disappointe me!

My favorite Saginaw restaurant. I love going there every time I am in town. I always get the Giant Steak Sandwich with Pizza Cheese. The food is always good, and even though the staff was behind on orders (because they were so busy), they were friendly, attentive, and patient with customers. It was worth the wait for this Yooper traveler.

I've been dining at Tony's since I was a child. I grew up a few blocks from the one that used to be on Genessee ST.
When the crew and I breeze in from Mortville, we always visit Tony's. I recommend the giant steak sandwich with pizza cheese and mushrooms or the Woppy burger. Or eat them both!

I love Tony’s, and this one may very well be my favorite. Staff is always super friendly and the food delicious

I went home for a funeral and Tony's did not disappoint. The food and service were better than most 5 star restaurants. Would definitely recommend

I ordered a Pizza and Wing Dings, the PIZZA WAS THE WORST I EVER HAD, THE CHEESE DIDN'T SMELL RIGHT AND IT WAS DRY WITH NO PIZZA SAUCE! I THREW AWAY HALF A ALL MEAT PIZZA THAT WASNT CHEAP! VERY DISAPPOINTED AT TONYS ON STATE ST

My wife and I, and our kids, stopped here for brunch after church on Sunday. My wife had an omelet, and I had their breakfast burrito again. They serve breakfast all day, which I appreciate, since I personally enjoy breakfast any time of the day. Their lunch and dinner offerings are good, too. This Tony's has been in business for over 30 years. The service is good. The food is delicious. And the price is reasonable. And, if you leave hungry, it's your own fault, because the servings are big.

Best breakfast in the area! The food is always tasty and well prepared. The staff is friendly and as prompt as possible. Weekend mornings are busy and the staff look like they could use more help. If you don't mind a chill slow morning it is well worth the wait!

Normally great food but this past time the cook spent 20 mins in the bathroom and therefore my fish and fries were all burnt. My guest ordered a breakfast and was finished before they even started the bacon. Next time I'll wait for the regular cook before I go.

Walking in you can tell it's been there for a while and is established with the local clientele so you know the food is going to be amazing, and it was. I recommend it to everyone and if you go on a Monday bring your own banana for a half off banana split :⁠-⁠)
