Grand opening, Natalie our server was fabulous, Tom very welcoming. Food delicious, crab pretzel app, steamers, cheese burger wrap and onion rings.

Just attended the grand reopening weekend. Fantastic local restaurant with a great atmosphere. Service is top-notch. Thanks to Rich for going the extra mile!

I took the family out to eat on a random Wednesday night and surprisingly the restaurant was quite busy! Downstairs it was full but it still only took 5 min to get a table for 6. Once ordered, the food came out extremely fast and was delicious. Great experience all around, and great atmosphere. Thanks.

This place is a hidden treasure in my opinion, and underrated. The Onion soup is beyond amazing. I get it every time. I've been here dozens of times, tried numerous things, and have always enjoyed everything I've ordered. It's casual, but it is amazing food with a reasonable price. Downstairs at the Rathskellar is the place to go (if you're very tall, might have to duck) but it's where the true atmosphere is. Staff are very friendly. I also chuckle when I go to the restroom and there's an old school sign to pay $0.05 to use the toilet. I usually order beer, but their cocktail menu is extensive and posted on a chalkboard. Highly recommend!

I sat downstairs in the bar. I had the chicken sandwich! Everything was excellent! Atmosphere, Food, and Service Was Great!

I don’t dine here often, but I have to say it really is an enjoyable place. good beer, good burgers. Cozy atmosphere. They were even booking a high school reunion for 60 classmates.

Consistent, quality, elevated bar food. Solid drink selection. Incredible service. Lots of value for your dollar. I grew up in Dunellen and this is the best eats in town. This will be my first stop every time I return. A truly local spot. They really give back to the community.

Picked up take out tonight and the owners happened to be sitting where I was waiting. The owners were extremely nice and personable! He checked on my order to ensure it would come out in a timely manner. Food was great! Highly recommend you check this establishment out! Gem in Dunellen!

Love this place. We have been eating (and drinking) here for a few years and the food is consistently great. Service is friendly and efficient. Owners are usually around, unlike many other restaurants. Weekly specials include several choices under each menu category; apps, salads, sandwiches, and main course. My favorites are the Grilled Veggie Wrap, Hot Pastami sandwich, Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos, and the Baby Spinach Salad w/Blackened Chicken added. The Wedge Salad was a favorite when I was able to eat dairy. Food is reasonably priced for what you get. We love the atmosphere and decor in the cellar, as well.

My husband and I stopped by a few weeks ago to try and find a new local place to hang out. I'm so glad we did. It is a Cheers type of place with what looked like several regulars. Nonetheless, the bartender Scottie, who EVERYONE endearingly greeted, was very welcoming and attentive! It was a full night but service wasn't lacking in the least bit. Now to the food.....SO GOOD!! I lived in Germany for awhile so when I saw their Oktoberfest menu I was intrigued and they absolutely did not disappoint! That chicken schnitzel was everything! Honestly, took my back to the very first one I had with my family. Delicious thick brown gravy, red cabbage and ALL! We'll definitely be back. Maybe to stay even!

Nice old rathskeller, built in 1875, good burgers and friendly people.

Great mixed drinks and draft beer with a number of non-alcoholic options also. The appetizers were delicious and the entrees even more so. Just be aware It is a ratskeller and it is in the basement. Being over 6'2" I was very aware of the very old large timbers that make of the ceiling. It is my new favorite go to for dinner.

This review is for the downstairs part. Very cool and rustic. Atmosphere was great. Went there with my wife and 2yo daughter who was treated great by the staff. Food is good and great choices. $15 pitcher sangria, which is awesome. Friendly staff, awesome food, atmosphere is great. Can't wait to go back.

Loved the food, the staff was super friendly and pretty quick with the orders. Really cool vibe in a small basement bar. Will definitely come back to try out their other items

This is a very friendly local restaurant. We held a friend’s going away dinner here. The owner was very hospitable. Food was great. Excellent place to hang out all evening!!

Came here with some friends to the downstairs bar and they were super busy, there was a 30 minute wait which was no big deal we just hung out at the bar until our table was ready. When we got seated our server Sherry was very attentive! She got us drinks right away and stayed on top of refills, my drink never went empty and I never waited for another one. Food was pretty good too, I'd say a step up from your typical bar food. I asked for a side of ranch and it came in 2 seconds. I was overall just very impressed with how the serving staff stayed right on top of things even on such a busy night. I will definitely go back here!
