Good surprise!
Was looking for a breakfast/lunch spot and this place came to mind. So glad that it did. The food was great and it is super cute inside! Great tables by the window to just relax and enjoy. I've known of the place for years but have never been in (stopped by on a Sunday once but they were closed.) All in all, it was a great choice. Eagerly awaiting my next visit!

Lovely diner and bar. We went for dinner the other night and and enjoyed this place immensely. I ordered smoked pork chops and my partner ordered a cheese steak. All was delicious and the prices are unbeatable.
There was one waitress who was also the bartender. The place was busy but she never kept us waiting. What a hero!
We'll definitely be coming back!

Excellent little joint. We stopped by in the mid-morning for some breakfast/lunch and all the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Overall, I loved the atmosphere of the place, but I took off one star because the back-rests of all the chairs were sticky and had accumulated filth over time. I'm not sure if I'll be back in the area any time soon but if I am I'll definitely drop in again. Would highly recommend.

This was a great spot to visit after being in the area for a few hours. Seems like a speak easy. Nice chilled environment and laid back. Food was great and well done.

The best dive bar restaurant in NJ. Family owned and operated. Mom is in the kitchen cooking amazing comfort food. Always great daily specials at realistic prices. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Stopped in on my way back home from a beauty convention/training... Food was amazing, friendly bartender, and the host was attentive even the customers were friendly... I would definitely go back there in my travels... Simple non pretentious and good...

I've been to this place a few times, always good. Straight-forward tavern food (burgers, sandwiches, fries, salads, entrees, desserts), all good. The waitress always gets our orders correct, nice to work with, incredible memory, and pays attention, great service. It's a great casual place to eat and meet. They also have a beautiful, huge, 320-year old white oak next to parking that is amazing.

I visited here on 21 September 2018, meeting a friend of mine as the location was roughly between her in Flanders and I in Matawan. The tavern comes up a little quickly as the driveway is slightly obscured by the surrounding hill, but this place is worth keeping an eye out.
We settled in to get drinks and spent awhile catching up, with the waitress giving us plenty of time and not rushing us. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger, which was done perfectly with a lightly toasted bun and the meat and cheese tasting perfectly. My friend and I spent about another hour just catching up after eating and, again, we were given all the time we needed without any rush.
The interior is designed to replicate a pub, with exposed ceiling beams, all wood floors, and a large bar. Sitting inside surrounded by the tall trees on the hill, it's easy to imagine oneself in an Irish pub. A local gem.

This place is a classic
Last of a dying breed
Food has great flavor made by family!
People and staff have great character
You can sit for a beer
Have some appetizers
And/ Or get together the family/friends at a table.

That kind of place that when you sit, there is no real reason to leave!

On our way home from the shore and wanted to stop somewhere for some good food and have a couple drinks to cool off from the day at the beach and I chose to stop in and check it out. The environment was just what we wanted (" not fancy shmancy "). Then the food came out for 8 of us. Blown away with the ample sizes and dug right in. Not a complaint from any of us. Great food and clearly found my new "on the way home from the shore" spot to grab a bite to eat. Highly recommended.

This is a warm, friendly place with a great family feel. The owners are fantastic people who care.
Recently my older brother passed away and the owners (friends of my brother) closed down to the public and hosted family and friends to celebrate his life. I will never forget their generosity and gesture of caring. Thank you so much on behalf of my whole family.

Great Saturday night bands: "Jake Mosco & The Travelers" and "Mama's Stew" I dance to. Family business hospitality. Friendly fun clientele. Home cooking. Delicious pulled pork, burgers, cucumber salad, blueberry crumb pie.

Good food, the place was comfortable. I get the issues some of y'all have had but when I went there the service was quick and good enough. I really recommend trying this place if you're near.

Great bar and grill, no frills but awesome food, live bands and bartenders that fill you glass with beverage vs ice and soda.

Jim, Amy, Craig and Family are the friendliest people in the family restaurant genre. Their family food, made by Jim's mom, will comfort your soul. A local's go-to place for mid-week dinner. A favorite place for Saturday night dance bands. Can't wait for it to reopen after Covid-19, as we miss the good times!

Top o' the Hill is our go-to place for comfort food. We recommend the potato pancake appetizer, any of their delicious burgers, and all the wonderful home cooked dinner specials.

Love the Top; have been dining there for years. Great menu, best salads, burgers and steaks, not to mention the homemade specials: meatloaf, pot roast and pork chops are super.

Local family owned restaurant. The food choices are typical american fanfare but somehow it just tastes so much better than a typical joint! Definitely recommend stopping by here as the food is amazing and the prices are low!!!
