Winkie's

Winkie's has been around forever and one of those shops that will leave an impression. Located on the corner of Silver Spring and Lake Dr. In Whitefish Bay. Upstairs, there are beautiful items to decorate your home for every day and for the holidays. A wonderful selection of keepsake Hallmark ornaments and other treasures. Items here can be a bit pricey. They also have a delightful candy counter filled with favorite Chocolates. You will also find a nice selection of cards, baby baby items, and other gifts. Downstairs, you will find a variety of items, including hard to find oil cloth on the rolls, craft items, and candy from days long gone, including the Reggie bar for those that remember that. This floor is more of the 5&10 variety, but not at the prices of past variety stores. Unfortunately, this store is not accessible if you aren't able to get up a few stairs. My daughter was able to access the four stairs to get in while I lifted her wheelchair up them. One staff member told me we'd be able to use the freight elevator to get downstairs, but when we were ready to head down, the upstairs staff said it wasn't available to the public. This has happened to use once before when we came. Eventually, someone called downstairs, and the woman who initially said we could use it assisted us, along with a young man, with the elevator.

I stop in here rather often and generally each time I find something to buy. This store has two floors: a first floor and the basement.

The basement contains things like toys and puzzles, art and crafts, yarn, paper goods & school supplies plus household items. The first floor has candy, decorations, cards and party supplies, fancy dishes, clothing and a few other neat things.

Over the months I have found some very neat stuff here. I had found two beautiful hand crafted orange bowls for my apartment as lots of my things are orange - that was a cool find. And I've bought leggings here too one day - including a pair that had horses on them! The other day I stopped in I went into the basement and picked out some art supplies for a project I am doing. I also needed a new squirt bottle as the one I have had stopped working and they had one of those too. Oh and the very first time I was in here I had bought a few packs of cards with envelopes...and I had thought I had gotten a good deal on those too. Oh and the cute little donkeys and horse figurines! I just love horses!

The bags they use are pretty sturdy and I never had a problem with carrying my things home, even the heavy ceramic bowls.

The employees here are always polite and happy to help you.

Generally I stop in here each time I go up to Silver Spring Drive.

Two shops in one, a toys & housewares assortment downstairs and various seasonal & party items upstairs... Also a fine assortment of bulk candy upstairs. If you need a unique item, give Winkie's a try, odds are you'll find several!

Great little store with so much to offer. Cards, gifts, and the best candies. Always find something special here and the staff is awesome.

Great old fashioned dime store experience with updated gifts. I love the candy counter. The basement toy department is amazing! Our kids loved going to Winkie's as kids and have great memories.

I absolutely love Winkie’s Toy Store. They are the only place I go to purchase birthday and Christmas gifts for my nieces and nephews. Since I work down the street, they are a one-stop shop for my family and I. Especially since they provide complimentary gift-wrapping for your purchases too. All you have to do is ask! Now that is quality customer service!

They have a very large selection of toys, holiday items and other gifts. This is not your run-of-the-mill toy store either. It is more of the one of a kind finds instead of where to go for the coveted toy of the season. The store is always clean and organized. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. Every time I visit, I have one if not two or three employees ask if I need help.

Prices are very reasonable compared to mass produced department stores, but you won't find most of these items elsewhere. If you are looking for unique gifts for the kiddos in your life, this is your place!

A great place to get a last minute birthday gift, or a great place to get stuff for a party. There’s a section for decoration and lifestyle upstairs and there is a place downstairs for any gifts like coloring books and supplies. There are legos in the basement and sporting equipment. Lots of candy as well. Take your child here if your looking for a simple treat.

Been over 30 year's since I've been there. And it was fantastic!!! Brought back memories. Still the same! It's a little kids heaven!!! It was so great to browse downstairs! Hope this place never closes! My daughter loved it too! Wants to bring her kids here someday. That's saying something, since she's only 13.

This place has EVERYTHING! From greeting cards, clothing, candles, housewares (including hard to find items like oilcloth)! An old fashioned candy counter that includes mouth watering taffy! Collectibles, souvenirs, and a nice toy store in the basement! If you like Hallmark, this is your new favorite Hallmark store! Plenty of parking in rear lot! And they always have the best window displays!

Wonderful staff! The best selection of greeting cards, Hallmark ornaments & some unique gifts! I've been coming here with my mom since I was a child. Today, my mom & I made a special trip to Winkie's for fun!

Very cool items for all ages at this store!! I've been coming to Winkie's as long as I can remember and it's just as good as it was all those years ago! Also, a fantastic staff makes customers want to keep coming back time and again 😀.

Great place for gifts, cards and unique finds. They still have Quality Candy chocolates in their candy department. 😊 Downstairs is awesome... Like an old five and dime variety store.

This place has a lot of items that are pretty fun to use. Just a random story about coming here is that when I come here I buy some small firecrackers (ya know, the ones that look like a small piece of Carmel in a Hershey’s Kisses wrapper) and then at night (around 8:00 or 8:30 PM) I would hang out with my friends and have a little Firecracker War. It’s not important but I just wanted to share it. Anyways, this is a fun place to be.

This is my favorite place to go for kids birthday presents. Actually it's my "where to get something special" for anyone on my gift list. There's a great card selection. They will giftwrap for you. The candy selection is plentiful. Highly recommend.

Cute store, surprisingly large and a lot of interesting things to be found here. The basement is usually where I end up but there’s all sorts of souvenirs and trinkets on the first floor as well as cards

Great toy store! We loved walking through and buying several gifts. Great variety for all ages, but could use a larger board game collection.

Winkie's is awesome! As a kid I begged my Mom to take me there. Now I take my son. Everyone working at Winkie's is friendly and helpful. They have really cool gift , crafts, toys, candy.....

Iconic Whitefish Bay Store - almost 60 years in the same location. Winkies has a quirky mixture of stuff - a true variety store. Put this one on your bucket-list, It's a fun shop to visit.

I hadn't been in Winkies in over 60 years when my mother used to drag me along with her. I was looking for an odd-colored yarn to patch a sweater and finally found it at Winkies.
