Ulu Factory

Good place to visit and get a souvenir. One can get custom engraving on the blade. The knife and the cutting bowl are pretty good for certain dishes. Prices are very decent as well.

Parking is plenty and staff is good except the person on the reception. Looked like he was not interested in job at all, not welcoming or making tour interesting.

We stopped by as a tour bus group and even though 49 people rushed into the shoppe the staff were incredible. The service was friendly and informative. You can get a custom handle and laser engraving on blades. Since I was flying out they offered to ship the items I bought no problem.
As i write this I am back in Georgia and was just on the phone to order more and the service was still impressive.

Absolutely a must see! Their gift shop has all the usual tourist stuff but at better prices and better selection. And it’s very interesting to watch the whole process of how they make the ulu knives. You can even have them laser engraved or customize the handles and in a matter of minutes, your customized ulu is packed and ready to go! I used the one I bought just tonight to cut up our homemade pizza!

I was there in September 2019 and it was a great place to visit. As a knife collector it was very interesting to me to watch as they made the Ulu knives. If you're in Anchorage I strongly recommend visiting the Ulu Factory.

We purchased 83 knives as client gifts. Can I tell you the customer service was incredible. All we had to do was provide the mailing addresses and what we wanted on the handle and they took care of the rest. Ulu Factory is a must.

After a fun trolley ride from downtown to this small factory that manufacturers a unique utility knife named 'Ulu', that has a long and current history with the Alaskan people. You can see them manufactured from start to finish. In addition, there is a wide assortment of nicely crafted wooden, leather and artistic goods for purchase in their gift shop. It was a fun and educational side trip. Enjoy.

Not of the the place so much as the product. I was gifted a Ulu knife following a cruise. I refused to get an Alaskan Ulu made by a company in China. This knife is exceptional. It is compact and the stand is perfect. I have used this daily: pizza, sausage, bread. It cuts perfectly and wipes clean. Highly recommended, plus a lifetime guarantee.

We visited the Ulu Factory and we were impressed. Very interesting to watch how they make the ulu’s and how they have been used in history. A worker shared that they would ship our gifts home. This allowed us to shop and not worry about what could fit in our suitcase. We were there on Friday, arrived home (FL on Sunday), and our gifts arrived on Tuesday (after a Monday holiday). All items were packed with care (bubble wrap) and arrived in perfect condition. Quite a selection available. Definitely recommend this stop!

Such a cool place to visit. My in laws got an ulu when they first married and so my husband and I did the same!! High quality Ulu!!

We had already dropped our bags at the airport and was unable to purchase Ulus while we were in Anchorage (we took a tour bus from Seward, where our cruise ended, and only had an afternoon to kill). After returning home, I was really bummed, especially after someone at the airport told me they were the best quality. I contacted The Ulu Factory, they mailed a catalog, and I was able to order exactly what I wanted! Kudos to Melinda for great customer service!

Great place. We have gotten these knives before and our friends love them. Couple of them placed orders for us to get them. They are so nice here and yes they do ship them home for you by usps large flat rate box. Easily fits two large sets or knives and boards along with other small items. Pay the $18 to have them shipped home as you wont have to deal with any possible issues of getting them onthe ship or going thru customs in Canada.

Excellent choices including ‘seconds’ offered at a discount. Super friendly and helpful staff. Overall wonderful experience!

This was the best gift shop we visited in Anchorage! They have so much more than Ulu's. Such nice and helpful staff. This place is great! They even have a gift for the person that has everything...just ask the cashier!

This is a great place to send / take out of state vacationers. They throughly enjoyed looking at the variety of items for sale and watching the demonstration of the artisans making ulus. They made several purchases of ulus as gifts to take back home for friends and family.

Wow, what an incredible store!! I was fascinated when I started learning about the Ulu knives and made this my first stop in Anchorage after a long day of flying from NY. I didn't realize they had so many incredible Alaskan gift items. I ended up buying 3 Ulu knives and a bunch of random gifts (including gold painted poop..yes poop..earrings for my sister!!) As if the amazing selection wasn't enough, the staff weny above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I will definitely be returning before the week is over for more gifts!!

The Ulu Factory was smaller than I anticipated but has a very cool see through wall where you can watch them make the ulu and they do a cool demo where you can see how to use the knife. This is a great little gem to check out while you're in town.

I mostly just use ulu's to cut pizza, but they're good for many other things too! The last ulu I purchased was from the store in Anchorage in 2017 and just recently (2022) I discovered a defective rivet. Customer service was amazing, they rush mailed me a new one to keep and also repaired the old one (they provided postage and packaging). I haven't experienced customer service this good in years, maybe ever. It speaks volumes to thier company.

Great store, friendly staff and great deals on some with minor imperfections. Bought two with ulu and dish for foodies on my Christmas list and two more with imperfections for me and my daughter... also the dvd how to which I will pass along after I see it. Perfect Alaskan gift and slightly cheaper than the same ones sold elsewhere at retail stores.

They sold me something, but forgot that selling is service, and service is selling.
