Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee

This has been on my bucket list for a long time.

We got here late afternoon. Seem to be after the rush but saw another wave of people coming in.

The crew working yesterday was awesome! Very friendly and great service! We are from out of town and we saw the special for free donut and coffee. Miss was patient with me and was nice especially during the busy time to help me with the app.

The doughnuts are truly amazing! Fresh, light and so so good! It was worth coming here.

The shop was very busy, there was allot of people coming in and out of the shop. The donuts were really tasty and everything was made in house. Which also means that not everything will be there on your arrival. Many fan favs get sold out and you have to wait for the next batch. Store is pretty small so they will ask you to wait outside if you have ordered and get your donuts thru their window near the store seating area outside.

The donuts here are delicious and beautiful! The staff is helpful and the store is clean.

My team and I just experienced a delightful culinary adventure with the "Box of the Best 12" from Sidecar, and it was nothing short of extraordinary! Each donut was a masterpiece of flavor and texture. The variety was astounding, featuring unique flavors I never knew existed. Take, for instance, the maple bacon donut – a surprising yet perfect blend of sweet and savory that tantalized my taste buds.

The "Box of the Best 12" is an absolute must-try for any donut lover. Not only do you get a wide array of incredible flavors, but they also sweeten the deal with a 13th donut for free – a baker's dozen! This little gem of a shop has truly outdone itself, and I can't recommend it enough. If you're looking to indulge in some of the best donuts of your life, Sidecar is the place to be!

Ain't gonna lie...if you on a budget, a Bakers dozen from this place will break your pocketbook. However, you will not be at many places like this one. Next to my neighborhood mom and pop doughnut shop, they are the best donuts I have ever had. Soft, moist, and the perfect sweetness. You shouldn't ask for more.... but you want to. Thanks to the wonderful staff. Great presentation. Nice upsell on the Best 12 plus 13th free. My kid loved the Blueberry one. Will be back.

Amazing, fresh donuts. Can’t get enough of the clean look and design of the space. Even the boxes are classy. Company did a fantastic job hit the mark with the product and branding. A little on the pricey side, but definitely worth every penny.

I came here after brunch with some friends and their kids. The kids were super excited to try everything so I got half dozen. These doughnuts were really fresh and quite tasty. The vegan chocolate tasted like a warm brownie and we waited for it to come out of the oven. My favorite was the passionfruit which had cream and filling inside and the huckleberry. I would definitely come back here on other days to try other flavors with family or friends.

My fiance and I love this place. I personally think this is the best donut shop in SD (over Randy’s). There was a night that we came a little after closing and one of the employees, Naia, gave us two free donut cards b/c we didn’t realize the closing time. So sweet! Definitely deserves a raise. Thanks Naia!!

The best way to kick off your holiday moods is to eat your favorite treats! For me, it should be good donuts. As an adult, I won’t waste my calories on bad desserts. But for Sidecar Donuts, it’s all worth it. I brought my parents in law there at the morning right after Thanksgiving. I am surprised how many people have the same plan, the line is sooooo long. But I can see everyone is so happy, and the line goes really fast. The staffs working there are fast and friendly. And of course, you know how delicious their donuts are. My new favorites are Pumpkin pie and Cho-co-lat donuts.

Previous review: I have heard Sidecar Doughnuts has been a lot of people’s favorites, but I’ve never got a chance to try. Luckily, my friends bought two donuts for me as a gift! The box is beautiful. When I received it, I couldn’t wait and just opened it in front of her. You know once I opened it, I couldn’t leave my eyes off from them, I had to try these two beautiful beautiful donuts! They are my friend’s personal favorite flavors - huckleberry and Apple pie. Both are amazingly delicious!!! Soft, flavorful, not over sweet. I have to say, people love their donuts for a reason, and you will join in the fan club once you take a bite.

Donut Series, Part 2
Sidecar Donuts was referred to us by @donuthunting (“The Godfather of Donuts”) and for good reason. Somehow they have managed to elevate their creations to a level that transcends the typical donut experience. You can just forget about sifting through stale offerings here since they produce new batches every hour.

Ordering was a bit of an ordeal, but that had nothing to do with the attentiveness of the staff (who were great). Our ordering issues were the direct result of our indecisiveness and FOMO was clearly a complicating factor. It is important to note that 4 of their donuts are made only once per week, so plan your order accordingly (Malasada—Mondays; Twist Tuesday—Tuesdays; Cinnamon Roll—Wednesdays; Apple Fritter—Fridays). When you do place your order they are placed in what reminded us of a corsage box.

The consumption of our donuts seemed completely uncomplicated. That experience seemed primal in nature with the lines of whom ordered what becoming blurry and individual territories needing to be established and reestablished repeatedly. Thankfully all relationships remained in tact and no significant injuries occurred. 😉

We sampled the “Maple Bacon”, “Malasada”, and “Choc-A-Lot” and although they were each unique unto themselves, they did all have some common threads. Their flavors were each decadent and none of them were burdened by that heavy “something’s stuck in my gut” post eating experience. One of our Review Team Members actually viewed them as more accurately falling within the cup cake family than the donut one.

While the reason to visit is totally about the donuts, it’s worth noting that the coffee was also good.

Best doughnuts ever. The staff is always friendly. I ask which doughnut is their favorite to eat and make. They always seem like their doing good while working. The doughnuts though.. shoot. So good. The huckleberry is one I ALWAYS get , I always like to try and seasonal one. The vanilla bean glazed doughnut is insanity, it's the first bacon maple doughnut I've liked. Baked fresh and often. You won't find a better tasting doughnut

Delicious donuts! Love that they have gluten free options. It’s usually only one donut to choose from but it’s delish!

I will say GF beware. There is so much cross contamination, usage of the same tongs, and just how close they all are. I haven’t had issues thus far but it’s definitely not certified GF.

I drive half an hour for these delicious donuts. My favorite is their eggs Benedict donut. So savory and just the right amount of sweetness.

Damn good doughnuts that will leave a dent in your wallet. My favorite was the celebration doughnut. The pink frosting with sprinkles. No line, but when I got there around 9am they were sold out of a few flavors, but it looks like they constantly make more throughout the day.

Wow! The young man who welcomed us at the door understands great customer service! (He didnt have a name tag but had a hat, mustache, and was working at 7am) Donuts were massive and tasty 😊 and the coffee was rich and flavorful ☕ 👍 Will come back next time in the area!

These donuts are amazingly yummy! I never eat chocolate donuts from any other stores because they are just so sweet and make my teeth ache! But I love the chocolate from Sidecar! The dough is just perfect in texture, fluffy and yet slightly dense, covered with good quality chocolate. All the donuts are not overly sweet! Our favorites are: chocolate, butter and sea salt, huckleberry (can really taste the berry with every bite), and lastly, maple bacon. Donuts are still warm if you sit and eat in the shopping center.

If Heaven came to earth & made a donut!! You have to get the Old Fashioned!

Sidecar has the freshest donuts with really unique flavors like Huckleberry and Saigon cinnamon. I prefer a cake donut and they have a lot to choose from. This place is not in my neighborhood but worth the special trip.

Loved my donuts and everyone was so nice. The shop was adorable and I would for sure go again. I ordered the Passion fruit Pavlova and it was delicious. We also bought the Dulce de Leche churro which was also very tasty.

If you have not tried Sidecar Doughnuts yet, you can not even say you like doughnuts, because you have never truly had one, until you try Sidecar. Sidecar was established in 2012 and make the freshest doughnuts you'll have. The nice part is they switch out flavors so there is always something new to try. They also always have a vegan option as well as a gluten free option. They also do cinnamon rolls on Wednesday which is awesome and Apple Fritter Friday which is unreal.

My parents love doughnuts, but my parents are old school, so we are talking about the grocery store doughnut back in the 80's style doughnut. I dropped off Sidecar a few weeks back and they were blown away! I'll be honest, doughnuts are my least favorite dessert. I would take ice cream, cupcakes, cookies and doughnuts would be last. However, after trying Sidecar, they stole the #1 spot in my cheat meal list of desserts and my heart.

Every single cheat meal I get includes a Sidecar doughnut now. Highly addictive!

You'll also notice celebrities IG stories sending each other Sidecar, not as part of an endorsement, but because they are that good! The doughnuts are made fresh and are constantly being made due to the high demand, there is almost always a line (order online to avoid the line). Once you bite into it you realize this is not your ordinary doughnut. Think of it this way, it was like shopping at Sears my whole life, and someone had me walk into Nordstrom's, that literally the difference in quality and flavor. Sidecar is the Nordstrom's of doughnuts.

So fresh, packed with flavor, and no feelings of guilt afterwards. Please go, and when you do, order an extra one for me.
