Lore of the Oregon caveman originated from the ancient marble caves 50 miles south of Grants Pass in Cave Junction. This statue has been in the city since the 1930’s. It now sits in front of the visitors center as soon as you exit I-5.

It is an ok roadside attraction, I preferred the welcoming town sign and the bears. Would have been great if the building was open, there was limited information outside. Would be interested in visiting downtown/area more, have just been able to drive by thus far.

I do like the cute bear statues and the pretty welcome sign. The caveman statue did not originate in lore of the Oregon Caves. It was a commercial travel promotion. I like the GPHS Cavemen teams and other local teams.
