Very beautiful state park. Definitely recommend this place if you are Maui. Very easy trails to see the needle shaped mountains. There is a beautiful garden. The views are fantastic, breath taking.

Definitely recommend doing the reservation in advance because you may run out of tickets because this place you cannot miss for sure.

Drive is fantastic to go this place, decent parking options and rest rooms are available.

Beautiful views and VERY EASY to enjoy the short walk to the viewing platform.

The walking along the river is great, watch out for flash flooding.

It’s necessary to book a timed entry. I looked for 8.15AM. Great choice as there was almost no one there, although the sun light (for pictures) gets better around 9AM. Disadvantage of getting there after 9AM is that it gets “crowded” with several excursions from cruise ships.

The park was closed last year (2023) when we visited, probably due to erosion in the parking area. They did a nice job with concrete / cement but it’s UGLY. I would recommend Hawaii Park Board to invite artists to paint a beautiful mural over the cement wall. It would be one more attraction there, to visit a giant mural painted by local artists.

I did a movie where you can see the cement. Not many pictures as I was trying to avoid it getting into my pictures, and the mural painting occurred to me after I left the facilities.

If you like the mural painting idea, please give a 👍 on this comment.

Very beautiful place! It was breath taking. Made reservations that morning so I didn’t have a problem but the island was pretty empty when we went. Must stop to see when you visit Maui. Parking was easy we did pay to park inside but there’s not many spots. You could park outside and the walk is very short save the money.

Take your time and walk around it’s a very short hike to see the needle and the gardens where beautiful. There were people going into the water when we were there. The have restrooms as well which was nice. Very nice place don’t miss it.

Beautiful spot full of historical and spiritual significance. Nice walking routes up near the needle and down to the river. The river (Na Wai Eha - The Four Waters of Maui) is a peaceful (although prone to flash floods) and the cool waters felt great on my feet. A curious crawdad even gently tested out my foot! I walked here from the closest bus stop in Wailuku. It took about an hour and wasn't too hard, just walked against traffic to make sure cars saw me.

Beautiful, serene, and great for family. You can take a dip in the fresh water stream.
This day, Dec 30th, the bathrooms were out of order due to water/plumbing issues or something similar. There's an area nearby, the monument that has a restroom and picnic tables & numbered 'patio' areas for small gatherings.
I will be back often and plan to have a picnic there someday soon.

Beautiful monument, very easy hike, we got there at 9am, right before the sun peak over the mountain top. Worth a trip, only took an hour or less to see the whole place.

Great stop!! Reserve online first because they don't take cash on-site, and the phone signal is not good in the area to reserve on the way. The stairs to the top are not steep or strenuous. I've had multiple ankle surgeries and can't handle much hiking or stairs, and I had no issues here. You can see everything from the bridge/bottom area, though. There were areas I saw people swimming in—beautiful lush jungle feel without being crowded.

It's been a few years since my family has been here, mostly because it was impossible to find parking due to all the tourists. Now with most of them not visiting right now, we were able to see a place I spent a lot of time at as a kid.
Though they have closed a couple of the older trails, it was still such a beautiful place to find peace.

Absolutely beautiful. We almost did not see this. Was taken here on our way to the airport before we left. So glad we got to experience it's beauty!

This is an unbelievably important part of your journey in Maui. It is rich in history and it's absolutely beautiful... If you're finding parts of Maui too warm, this is a great place to cool down... Either here or up country. Be sure to walk down the trail and put your feet in the water... Do not litter here as a matter of fact do not litter anywhere on our island...please and thank you.

Great location to spend some time with family out in nature. Unfortunately, the bathroom rest area is still closed due to plumbing issues. There is a pathway for a wheelchair access, but the main viewing site to see the new is only accessible by walking 133 stairs. Great place to view the valley! Technically only guide dogs are allowed Would recommend to friends and family.

Iao Valley State Park is a must-visit for anyone visiting Maui. The beautiful valley is a great place to hike, swim, and simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

Great state park showing very sharp edged mountains with several short hiking trails. The restrooms are closed and it now costs $10 per car and $5 per person. It seems people were parking outside the gate and waking in, apparently saving $10. There are clean portable toilets.

Beautiful area. There are some set paths for viewing that are relatively easy to hike with a number of unimproved areas for hiking. It's a really unique feature on Maui and worth the trip to see.

Beautiful, pristine healing waters! If someone’s in a swimming spot just go a little farther up to find your own area. You won’t be disappointed!

Definitely a treat for someone who loves hiking and adventure!!! The view from the top of the stairs onlooking the peak is breathtaking. One thing to note is that when we went we had to reserve tickets ahead of time. Once we got to the gate our phones had no service so we had to drive back into town to book our tickets. So make sure you book ahead of time. The price is worth it. Definitely bring some lunch and go down to the river and take a dip in. There are a bunch of pools so it’s like you have your own little swimming hole. The water wasn’t too cold and it is great for pictures. There are a ton of hiking trails as well. You can definitely spend the day here. P.S: to avoid paying for parking try to come early and just parallel park right before the gate on the side of the mountain

Great stop for a diverse look at a rain forest. The needle is pretty spectacular to view. Hopefully you can get there on a clear day...tends to be cloudy and rainy in the valley hence why it's so green!

Good spot to kick back and relax in the cool streams. Lots of little pools and space to spread out. $30 for a family of 5 visiting would not have been worth it without the river enjoyment.
