This museum is a hidden gem on the east side of Milwaukee. It's small but punches way above its weight.

The permanent exhibit mostly centers around how the Jewish people came to Milwaukee in the early years. You then wind your way through a time-line that takes you through how Jews contributed to the growth of Milwaukee.

The tough part is reading about the holocaust. The exhibit is scary, and for good reason. We should never forget.

The museum then has a traveling exhibit that they curate. This exhibit is in the front of the building as you walk in. They always do a good job to make sure this exhibit is relevant to what's happening in real life.

It's depressing that you have to be buzzed in, as it's a secure building. It's cheap to get tickets. Only 9 bucks!

Check out this museum. It's a Milwaukee icon.

A wonderful, educational exhibit, "Brother Can You Spare a Dime." It was the last day so I'm glad I got there.

I also checked out the Museum's ongoing exhibit again that depicts the Jewish experience in Milwaukee as well as across the globe. Of course it's an indescribably sad story, but a story that must be told now and forever.

Everyone should experience the exhibit. It's so informative and arranged in sections of the complete story. Every facet of Jewish life is laid out before your eyes with photos and artifacts and stories.

It's a wonderful museum. Milwaukee is fortunate to have this.

I have been here many times. Every time i go i learn something new. It is very eye-opening to how blessed and gifted the Jewish people are, and how the world benefits from that. Thank you for sharing such a rich heritage.

Interesting, informative, enriching.

I hadn’t been in ages, brought my kid for the traveling exhibit, Jews In Space, which was awesome beyond my expectations. Just a fantastic mix of AV, cool artifacts, and insightful supplemental / explanatory material. Really wonderful.

I suggest leaving enough time to visit the general collections on local Jewish community history separately from any additional special exhibit that might be there, as the museum itself has a real bounty of fascinating stuff, quite a bit beyond what I expect from a typical local ethnic museums. (Which are always nice, it’s just that this one is a bit more elaborate.) It’s nice to see just one or the other, take a break & grab a bite to eat in the neighborhood, and come back. Or better yet, make 2 days of it as they’re not open late.

I’d definitely recommend a membership. This museum is great for people of any ethnic background, and a definite must see for anyone interested in Milwaukee, immigration, or history buffs in general. I wish I could have brought my older relatives here and seen their reactions & additional family stories around so many of the exhibits. Homeschoolers should definitely make it a regular part of their history & culture studies. The collections are so varied and beautifully presented, the layout gives a flow that really draws you in.

They don’t have quite the elaborate gift shop I tend to associate with museums, mostly just a nice selection of books. Overall, it’s an outstanding and uplifting visit. Highly recommended.

The Jews in Space exhibit was really wonderful - a mix of history of Jewish astronomers, astronauts, and science fiction writers and characters. Some in-depth history, and a nice touch of fun and humor. The heavens are telling the glory of God. Live long and prosper.

I enjoyed my experience and just wish it was bigger. The next time I go I just need to get there earlier because I didn't have enough time to read everything, which I really wanted to.

I have been to the beautifully and thoughtfully curated exhibits and I have been able to attend a few of their panel discussions and presentations.
Not only are the organizers welcoming, other attendees are equally friendly.
I wish I was able to take more advantage of all they offer, I have not had a bad or even so so experience!

Great place, very inviting and friendly staff. The exhibits are amazing and very informational, you really learn alot about the Jewish people that came to milwaukee. Also their current Jews in space exhibit is fun to look at and educational. It show cases the people who have made history for the Jewish people in space exploration and science fiction. Also having the movie SPACE BALLS playing was so great.

Everyone who has no true concept of intolerance needs to visit this museum! The fact that we're seeing the growth of intolerance in America is worrisome and remind us to learn the lessons of the past. Hate is wrong.

The Jewish Museum of Milwaukee is a wonderful family experience. Learn the history of how many of today's Jewish families arrived in Wisconsin, and then the special rotating exhibits are always fun (such as Jews in Baseball and Jews in Space). Fun, educational, and all for a great price.

Small educational museum about the history of the Jewish community in Milwaukee. They also currently have a special exhibit about Japanese internment camps during WW2 and admission is free until May. It is a bit small so I spent around an hour here. Would recommend.

I've had the opportunity to visit at least 4 times and each time I learn more than my previous visit. It's not a huge museum, but honestly it doesn't need to be--there is a ton of vital, dense information and history. I have brought my mom who was equally impressed. A few months ago, my manager, who lives in San Francisco, was in town. I suggested he visit and he LOVED it. Definitely recommend if you have the time. By the way, I have participated in their Civil Rights History Tour, it is by far the best tour I've had in Milwaukee and I've lived her my entire life.

Parking is located behind the building or on the street. Had a great time exploring when the Houdini exhibit was up!
