A historic landmark which serves as a reminder that in America, particularly The South, great things can come from humble beginnings. The students of the "Bayou Paul Colored School" went on to be important and prestigious members of their community. Segregation is a dark and ugly period in our nation's history, and this school reminds us of the perseverance and and resilience possessed by African Americans. There is a nice, small playground, pavilion and PokéStop.

Nice for family gathering but shelter is very small

Poorly maintained. The gazebo is falling apart, and is roped off to prevent people from going into it. The fence is down in several places where trees have fallen on it. Seems like more of a hang out for city of St. Gabriel workers than anything. They can often be found there hiding instead of working. Needs some serious work done to it.
